    „Adjusting Image Quality
    You can adjust the image quality according to the document to be copied.
    Follow this procedure:
    1Press [COPY].
    2Press [Menu] repeatedly until  appears.
    3Use [ ] or [ ] to select the image quality.
    4Press [OK].
    „Adjusting Exposure (Intensity)
    Exposure (intensity) is the degree of difference between light and dark. Increasing the exposure 
    setting further blackens dark areas and whitens bright areas. Conversely, decreasing the 
    exposure setting reduces the difference between bright and dark areas. You can adjust the 
    exposure between nine gradations.
    Follow this procedure:
    1Press [COPY].
    2Press [Menu] repeatedly until  appears. 
    3Use [ ] or [ ] to select the  or .
    If you select , press [OK] and then use [ ] to decrease the density, or 
    press [ ] to increase the density.
    4Press [OK].
    If you select , the message  appears on the LCD. : Suitable for text-only documents.
    : Suitable for photographs.
    : Suitable for high speed copying at a lower image quality.
    NotezWhen using , if the quality is not as good as expected, select 
     or  and try copying again.
    zSelect  to copy in grayscale. Grayscale renders tones in a 
    range of grays instead of black or white.

    „Reducing Or Enlarging A Copy
    You can reduce or enlarge copies using three different methods:
    The following sections describe how to use these methods.
    zUsing Preset Copy Ratios
    Preset copy ratios are convenient when changing between standard paper sizes, for example, 
    reducing A4 to letter size, or enlarging 4 x 6 to letter size.
    Follow this procedure:
    1Press [COPY].
    2Press [Menu] repeatedly until  appears.
    3Press [OK].
    4Use [ ] or [ ] to select the preset ratio.
    25% / 70% / 86% / 100% / 115% / 141% / 400%
    5Press [OK].
    Preset copy ratios You can select one of the preset ratios to reduce or enlarge copies.
    Custom copy ratios 
    (Zoom)You can specify the copy ratio as a percentage to reduce or enlarge 
    copies.
    Automatic ratios 
    (Fit to Page)The machine automatically reduces or enlarges the image to fit the paper 
    size.

    zUsing Custom Copy Ratios (Zoom)
    In addition to making reduction and enlargement decisions using preset copy ratios, you can use 
    customized 1% increments.
    Follow this procedure:
    1Press [COPY].
    2Press [Menu] repeatedly until  appears.
    3Use [ ] or [ ] to select .
    4Press [OK].
    5Use [ ] or [ ] to select a copy ratio between 25% and 400%.
    zPressing [ ] decreases the copy ratio, and pressing [ ] increases the ratio.
    zPress and hold down [ ] or [ ] to quickly advance through the ratios.
    6Press [OK].
    zUsing Automatic Copy Ratios (Fit To Page)
    You can set the machine to automatically reduce or enlarge the document to fit the paper size 
    you selected in .
    Follow this procedure:
    1Press [COPY].
    2Press [Menu] repeatedly until  appears.
    3Use [ ] or [ ] to select .
    4Press [OK].
    The message  appears on the LCD.
    NoteIf the document is not properly reduced or enlarged to fit the paper size, 
    use preset or custom copy ratios and try copying again.

    Advanced Copy Functions
    The following advanced copy feature is available:
    The following section describes how to use this feature.
    „Sticker Copying
    You can easily make 16 stickers from 4 x 6 (101.6 x 152.4 mm) photos or graphics using 
    Canon sticker paper.
    (1)Platen Glass (Place document face down)
    (2)16 stickers
    Follow this procedure:
    1Load one sheet of stickers in the Auto Sheet Feeder.
    2Press [COPY].
    3Press [Menu] repeatedly until  appears.
    4Use [ ] or [ ] to select , then press [OK].
    5Press [OK].
    6Use [ ] or [ ] to select the number of copies.
    7Load the document on the Platen Glass.
    8Press [Color] for color copying, or press [Black] for black & white copying.
    Sticker copying (MP180) Copies photos or graphics onto stickers.
    Borderless copying (MP180) Copies the images so that they fill the entire page without borders. 
    Image repeat (MP180) Copies an image multiple times onto a single page.
    Fit-to-Page copying (MP160) Copies images so that they are automatically reduced or enlarged 
    to fit the paper size.

    „Borderless Copying
    This feature enables you to copy the images so that they fill the entire page without borders.
    Follow this procedure:
    1Load the paper in the Auto Sheet Feeder.
    2Press [COPY].
    3Use [ ] or [ ] to select the number of copies (max. 99 copies).
    4Adjust the settings for your document as necessary.
    5Press [Menu] repeatedly until  appears.
    6Use [ ] or [ ] to select .
    7Press [OK].
    zIf a paper type setting is selected that cannot be used in borderless copying, the LCD 
    displays the following message.
    zUse [ ] or [ ] to select the paper size, then press [OK].
    8.5x11/A4/4x6/5x7/C-CARD
    zUse [ ] or [ ] to select the paper type, then press [OK].
    NotezYou cannot specify the paper size, paper type, or reduction/
    enlargement when using this function.
    zThe Quality is fixed to . You cannot select other than .
    NotezThe copied image may need to be enlarged to fit onto the selected 
    paper size when making borderless copies. Some cropping may occur.
    zWhen borderless copying is selected, the LCD will display the setting 
    with the symbol “+,” such as , , etc.

    „Repeating An Image On A Page (Image Repeat)
    This feature enables you to copy an image multiple times onto a single page. You can set the 
    machine to automatically select the number of times it repeats the image, or you can specify the 
    number.
    Follow this procedure:
    1Load the paper in the Auto Sheet Feeder.
    2Press [COPY].
    3Press [Menu] repeatedly until  appears.
    4Use [ ] or [ ] to select .
    5Press [OK].
    6Use [ ] or [ ] to select  or , then press [OK].
    zIf you selected , proceed to step 11.
    zIf you selected , proceed to step 7.
    7Use [ ] or [ ] to set the vertical repeats, then press [OK].
    8Use [ ] or [ ] to set the horizontal repeats, then press [OK].

    „Fit-to-Page Copying (MP160)
    This feature enables you to copy images so that they are automatically reduced or enlarged to fit 
    the paper size you select.
    Follow this procedure:
    1Load the paper in the Auto Sheet Feeder.
    2Press [+] repeatedly to select the number of copies.
    3Press [Paper] repeatedly to select the paper size and type.
    4Press [Fit to Page].
    The Fit-to-Page Lamp lights. To cancel the Fit-to-Page copying, press [Fit to Page] again.
    5Load the document on the Platen Glass.
    6Press [Color] for color copying, or [Black] for black & white copying.
    The machine starts Fit-to-Page copying.
    ImportantzThe area read from the documents depends on the enlargement/
    reduction ratio.
    zThe size of the documents to copy should be no larger than one 
    division of the paper. For example, if you copy four documents at the 
    same size, their sizes must be one-fourth of the paper size or smaller.
    Notez cannot be selected for the paper.
    z cannot be selected for the enlargement/reduction 
    ratio.
    NoteIf you select A4/Letter Photo Paper or 4 x 6 Photo Paper, the machine 
    copies images so that they fill the entire page without borders. Some

    Printing From A Memory Card (MP180)
    Using A Memory Card
    Let’s take a look at different types of memory cards and how to insert and remove them.
    „Memory Cards Supported By This Machine
    Supported memory cards are as follows:

    1 Purchase a CompactFlash Card Adapter for xD-Picture Card separately.
    *2 Use the special adapter supplied with the card.

    „Inserting A Memory Card
    1Turn ON the machine.
    ImportantzThis machine accepts images taken with a camera compatible with the 
    Design rule for Camera File system (Exif 2.21 compliant) and DPOF (Ver. 
    1.00 compliant).
    zPhotos stored in a memory card not supported by the digital camera may fail 
    to load or be damaged. For types of memory cards supported by your digital 
    camera, refer to the digital camera users manual.
    zUse the digital camera to format the memory card. Memory card data formats 
    may not be compatible with computer-specific formats.
    zImages edited on a computer may result in improper printing.
    zPlease use only one type of memory card at a time.
    NotezWhen the write protection is disabled on the machine, neither printing 
    nor maintenance can be done. After using the card slot as the memory 
    card drive for your computer, be sure to enable the write protection 
    again. See “Setting Up The Card Slot As The Memory Card Drive Of 
    The Computer” on page 49.
    zIf you used a computer to edit or process the data stored in the 
    memory card, be sure to print those photos from the computer. Using 
    the operation panel to print such photos may result in improper 
    printing.

    2Install the memory card in the appropriate Card Slot.

    3Check that the Access Lamp lights after blinking.
    „Removing A Memory Card
    1Ensure that the Access Lamp is not flashing, then hold the exposed portion of the 
    memory card with your fingers and remove the memory cards.

    as it stops, otherwise the machine and/or the memory card will be 
    damaged.
    NoteIf you use the machine connected to your computer, follow the 
    instructions for removal of the memory card from the computer.
    ImportantRemoving the memory card or turning OFF the machine while the Access 
    Lamp is flashing can damage the data stored in the memory card.
