    U Creative Filters
    5Save the image.
      Select [OK ] to save the image.
      Check the destination folder and 
    image file number, then select [ OK].
      To apply a filter to another image, 
    repeat steps 2 to 5.
      Press the  button to return to 
    the menu.
      Grainy B/W
    Makes the image grainy and black and white. By adjusting the 
    contrast, you can change t he black-and-white effect.
      Soft focus
    Gives the image a soft look. By adjusting the blur, you can change 
    the degree of softness.
    Creative Filter Characteristics
    When shooting  1+73  or 1  images, the Creative fi lter will be applied to 
    the  1  image and the image will be saved as a JPEG image. If an aspect 
    ratio is set for Live View shooting an d a Creative filter is applied to the 1 
    image, the image will be saved in  the aspect ratio that was set.

    U Creative Filters
      Fish-eye effect
    Gives the effect of a fish-eye l ens. The image will have a barrel-type 
    distortion.
    Depending on the level of this filt er effect, the area trimmed along 
    the periphery of the ima ge changes. Also, since this filter effect will 
    magnify the image center, the appar ent resolution at the center may 
    degrade depending on the number of re corded pixels. Set the filter 
    effect in step 4 while checking the resulting image.
      Art bold effect
    Makes the photo look like an oil pa inting and the subject look three-
    dimensional. You can adjust the cont rast and saturation. Note that 
    the sky, white walls, and similar subjects may not be rendered with a 
    smooth gradation and may look irr egular or have significant noise.
      Water painting effect
    Makes the photo look like a watercolor  painting with soft colors. You 
    can adjust the color density. Note  that night scenes or dark scenes 
    may not be rendered with a smooth  gradation and may look irregular 
    or have significant noise.
      Toy camera effect
    Gives a color cast typical of toy cameras and darkens the image’s 
    four corners. By adjusting the color tone, you can change the color 
    cast.
      Miniature effect
    Creates a diorama effect. You  can change where the image looks 
    sharp. In step 4, you can press the < B> button to change the 
    orientation (vertical/horizontal) of  the white frame that shows where 
    you want the image to look sharp.

    You can resize an image to make the pixel count lower and save it as a 
    new image. Resizing an image is  possible only with JPEG 3/4 /a /b  
    images. JPEG  c and RAW images cannot be resized.
    1Select [Resize].
      Under the [ x1] tab, select [ Resize], 
    then press < 0>.
    X The images will be displayed.
    2Select an image.
      Select the image you want to resize.
      By pressing the < Hy> button, you 
    can switch to the index display and 
    select an image.
    3Select the desired image size.
      Press < 0> to display the image 
    sizes.
      Press the < U> key to select the 
    desired image size, then press < 0>.
    4Save the image.
      Select [OK ] to save the resized 
    image.
      Check the destination folder and 
    image file number, then select [ OK].
      To resize another image, repeat steps 
    2 to 4.
      Press the  button to return to 
    the menu.

    Resize Options According to Original Image Size
    The image size displayed in step 3 on the preceding page, such as 
    [***M ****x**** ], has a 3:2 aspect ratio. The image size according to 
    aspect ratios is shown in the table below.
    The asterisked image-recording qualit y figures do not exactly match the 
    aspect ratio. The image  will be cropped slightly.

    Printing Images
     Printing  (p.276)
    You can connect the camera directly to a printer and print 
    out the images on the card. The  camera is compatible with 
    “ w PictBridge” which is the standard for direct printing.
      Digital Print Order Format (DPOF)  (p.285)
    DPOF (Digital Print Order Fo rmat) enables you to print 
    images recorded on the card according to your printing 
    instructions such as the image  selection, quantity to print, 
    etc. You can print multiple images in one batch or give the 
    print order to a photofinisher.
      Specifying Images for a Photobook  (p.289)
    You can specify images in the card for printing in a 
    photobook.

    The direct printing procedure can be performed entirely with the 
    camera while you look at the LCD monitor.
    1Set the camera’s power switch to 
    .
    2Set up the printer.
     For details, see the printer’s 
    instruction manual.
    3Connect the camera to the 
    printer.
     Use the interface cable provided with 
    the camera.
      Connect the cable to the camera’s 
     terminal with the cable 
    plug’s < D> icon facing the front of 
    the camera.
      To connect to the printer, refer to the 
    printer’s instruction manual.
    4Turn on the printer.
    5Set the camera’s power switch to 
    .
    XSome printers may make a beeping 
    sound.

    6Play back the image.
     Press the  button.
    X The image will appear, and the < w> 
    icon will appear on the upper left to 
    indicate that the camera is connected 
    to a printer.
    wPictBridge
      Movies cannot be printed.
      The camera cannot be used  with printers compatible only with CP Direct 
    or Bubble Jet Direct.
      Do not use any interface cable other than the  one provided.
      If there is a long beeping sound in st ep 5, it indicates a problem with the 
    printer. Resolve the problem displa yed in the error message (p.284).
     You can also print RAW images  taken with this camera.
      If you use a battery pack  to power the camera, ma ke sure it is fully 
    charged. With a fully-charged battery,  printing up to approx. 3 hr. 30 min 
    is possible.
      Before disconnecting the cable, first tu rn off the camera and printer. Hold 
    the plug (not the cord)  to pull out the cable.
      For direct printing, using AC Adapte r Kit ACK-E8 (sold separately) to 
    power the camera is recommended.

    The screen display and setting options will differ depending on the 
    printer.  Some settings may not be available. For details, refer to the 
    printer’s instruction manual.
    1Select the image to be printed.
     Check that the  icon is 
    displayed on the upper left of the LCD 
    monitor.
      Press the < U> key to select the 
    image to be printed.
    2Press .
    X The print setting screen will appear.
    3Select [Paper settings].
      Select [Paper settings ], then press 
    < 0 >.

    * Depending on the printe r, certain settings such as the date and file 
    number imprinting and trimmi ng may not be selectable.Sets the printing effects (p.280).

    the printer, then press < 0>.

      Select the type of the paper loaded in 
    the printer, then press < 0>.
    X The page layout screen will appear.
      Select the page layout, then press

    X The print settings screen will 
    reappear.
    *1:From the Exif data, the came ra name, lens name, shooting mode, shutter speed, aperture, 
    exposure compensation  amount, ISO speed, whit e balance, etc., will be imprinted.
    *2: After ordering the prints with “Digital Print Order Format (DPOF)” (p.285), it is 
    recommended that you print by following  “Direct Printing with DPOF” (p.288).

    Bordered The print will have white  borders along the edges.
    BorderlessThe print will have no borders. If your printer cannot print 
    borderless prints, the print will have borders.
    Bordered cThe shooting information*1 will be imprinted on the border on 
    9x13 cm and larger prints.
    xx-upOption to print 2, 4, 8, 9,  16, or 20 images on one sheet.
    20-upc
    35-up p20 or 35 images will be printed  as thumbnails on A4 or Letter size 
    paper*2.
    • [ 20-up c] will have the shooting information*1 imprinted.
    DefaultThe page layout will vary depending on the printer model or its settings.
    If the image’s aspect ratio is different from the printing paper’s aspect ratio, the 
    image may be cropped si gnificantly if you print it as a borderless print.  If the image is 
    cropped, it may look more grainy on the  paper due to the fewer number of pixels.

    4Set the printing effects (image 
    optimization).
     Set them if necessary. If you do not 
    need to set any printing effects, go to 
    step 5.
      What is displayed on the screen 
    differs depending on the printer.
      Select the option, then press < 0>.
      Select the desired printing effect, then 
    press < 0>.
      If the < e> icon is displayed brightly 
    next to < z>, you can also adjust 
    the printing effect (p.282).
    * When you change the printing effects, changes are reflected in the image 
    displayed on the upper left. Note that  the printed image may look slightly 
    different from the displayed image, whic h is only an approximation. This also 
    applies to [Brightness] and [Adjust levels] on page 282.
    Printing Effect Description
    EOnThe image will be printed using the printer’s standard colors. 
    The image’s Exif data is used to make automatic corrections.
    EOffNo automatic correc tion will be applied.
    EVividThe image will be printed with  higher saturation to produce 
    more vivid blues and greens.
    ENRImage noise is reduced before printing.
    0  B/WPrints in black-and-wh ite with true blacks.
    0 Cool tonePrints in black-and-white  with cool, bluish blacks.
    0 Warm tonePrints in black-and-white with warm, yello wish blacks.
    zNaturalPrints the image in the actu al colors and contrast. No 
    automatic color adju stments are applied.
    zNatural MThe printing characteristics a re the same as the “Natural” 
    setting. However, this sett ing enables finer printing 
    adjustments than with “Natural.”
    EDefaultThe printing will differ dependin g on the printer. For details, 
    refer to the printer’ s instruction manual.
