161 Playback via Browser Playback via Browser You can use the Playback via Browser function to access the clips and photos in the camcorder from the Web browser of a connected network device*. You can then play back your recordings using the Web browser and even save local copies of them on the device. * Depending on the device, OS, browser and video quality, you may not be able to play back or save recordings. For details, visit your local Canon Web site. 1 Open the index screen that contains the clips or photos you want to play back (A126). 2 Connect the camcorder to the desired network (A151). • Select a Camera Access Point connection. 3 Open the [Playback via Browser] submenu and then press the joystick to activate the function. [wOther Functions] > [Playback via Browser] • [Connected] and the camcorder’s URL will appear on the camcorder's screen. • While the camcorder is in Playback via Browser mode, only the Q switch, CANCEL button and the joystick (pressing it only) can be used on the camcorder. • You need to actively connect the Wi-Fi enabled device to the camcorder. 4 Connected device: Start the Web browser and enter the URL displayed on the camcorder’s screen. • The Playback via Browser screen will appear. 5 Connected device: Play back your recordings. • To change the index screen displayed, touch/click the button on the top left of the screen. The button shows the SD card icon (2 or 3) and the recording type (·, ¸ or }). Touch/click · or ¸ to show clips of that type or } to show photos on the desired SD card. • Touch/click the desired recording from the list of recordings. For MP4 clips, touch/click Ð to play back the clip. For photos, the photo will be displayed. AVCHD clips cannot be played back. • Touch/click ö to return to the list of recordings. • Devices other than iOS devices: Touch/click õ to save a local copy of the clip/photo on the device. 6 Camcorder: When you have finished playing back, press the joystick to end the Playback via Browser mode. NOTES • Only one device may be connected to the camcorder at a time. • Long recordings, whose video stream file exceeds 4 GB, will be recognized as multiple files on other devices. 8 163 Photos Taking Photos You can take photos when the camcorder is in mode or you can capture a photo from a clip when the camcorder is in mode. Taking Photos in CAMERA Mode You can take a photo while the camcorder is recording a clip or is in record pause mode. If a custom picture file is selected in advance, it will be recorded with the photo (A110). To take a photo, set an assignable button to [Photo] in advance. When the movie format is AVCHD, photos will have a size of 1920x1080. When the movie format is MP4, photos will be the same size as the resolution set for the video configuration. 1 Set an assignable button to [Photo] (A107). 2 Press the assignable button to take a photo. •2/3 and the number of available photos appear momentarily on the upper right of the screen. • If a custom picture file is selected, it will be recorded with the photo. • The SD card access indicator will illuminate in red as the photo is being recorded. Capturing Photos in MEDIA Mode You can capture a photo from a clip during playback pause. To capture a photo, set an assignable button to [Photo] in advance. Photos will have a size of 1920x1080. 1 Set an assignable button to [Photo] (A107). 2 Select the desired clip and press the Ò button to start playback. 3 Pause the playback at the point you want to capture. 4 Press the assignable button to capture a photo. •2/3 and the number of available photos appear momentarily on the upper right of the screen. • The photo will be saved to the SD card that the clip is saved on. The SD card access indicator will illuminate in red as the photo is being recorded. 5 Press the Ñ button to stop playback. IMPORTANT • Observe the following precautions while either of the SD card access indicators is illuminated in red. Failure to do so may result in permanent data loss. - Do not disconnect the power source or turn off the camcorder. - Do not open the SD card compartment cover and do not remove the SD cards. NOTES • If the LOCK switch on the SD card selected for recording is set to prevent writing, you will not be able to record a photo. Change the position of the LOCK switch in advance. Photo Playback 164 Photo Playback You can view the photos that you took with the camcorder. Displaying the [Photos] Index Screen Display the [Photos] index screen to view photos. 1 Set the Q switch to MEDIA. • The camcorder switches to mode and the clip index screen appears. 2 Press the INDEX button. • The index screen selection menu appears. 3 Select [Photos] and then press the joystick. • The [Photos] index screen appears. • After you are finished viewing photos, press the INDEX button to return to the [AVCHD] index screen. Viewing Photos 1 Move the orange selection frame to the desired photo. 2Press the Ò button to view the photo. • The photo playback screen appears and the selected photo is displayed. •Use the Ú/Ù buttons or push the joystick left/right to switch to the previous/next photo. • Press the DISP. button to hide/show the onscreen displays. • Press the Ñ button to return to the [Photos] index screen. IMPORTANT • Observe the following precautions while either of the SD card access indicators is illuminated or flashing in red. Failure to do so may result in permanent data loss. - Do not disconnect the power source or turn off the camcorder. - Do not open the SD card compartment cover and do not remove the SD cards. NOTES • The following photos may not be displayed correctly. - Photos not recorded with this camcorder. - Photos created or edited on a computer. - Photos whose file names have been changed. 165 Photo Operations Photo Operations You can use the photo menu to copy a photo, delete a photo, or copy a custom picture file embedded in a photo. You can display the photo menu from the [Photos] index screen or photo playback screen. Copying Photos You can copy photos from one SD card to the other. Copying a Photo from the Playback Screen 1 Display the photo to be copied (A164). 2 Press the joystick to open the photo menu. 3 Select [Copy] and then press the joystick. 4 Select [OK] and then press the joystick. • Select [Cancel] instead to cancel the operation. • The selected photo is copied. 5 When the confirmation message appears, press the joystick. Copying a Photo from the Index Screen 1 Open the [Photos] index screen (A164). 2 Move the orange selection frame to the photo to be copied. 3 Press the joystick to open the photo menu. 4 Select [Copy] and then press the joystick. 5 Select [OK] and then press the joystick. • Select [Cancel] instead to cancel the operation. • The selected photo is copied. 6 When the confirmation message appears, press the joystick. Copying Multiple Photos 1 Open the [Copy] submenu. [wOther Functions] > [Photos] > [Copy] 2 Select [Select] to select which photos to copy or [All] to copy all the photos and then press the joystick. • If you selected [Select], use the joystick to move between the photos. Press the joystick to select a photo to copy and repeat as necessary (up to 100 photos). After selecting all the desired photos, press the MENU button. 3 Select [OK] and then press the joystick. • Select [Cancel] instead to return to the photo selection screen. • While the photos are being copied, you can press the joystick to cancel. 4 When the confirmation message appears, press the joystick. Photo Operations 166 Deleting Photos You can delete a photo you no longer need. When you do so, however, the custom picture file embedded in it will also be deleted. Photos can be deleted one at a time from the photo playback screen or [Photos] index screen. Deleting a Photo from the Playback Screen 1 Display the photo to be deleted (A164). 2 Press the joystick to open the photo menu. 3 Select [Delete] and then press the joystick. 4 Select [OK] and then press the joystick. • Select [Cancel] instead to cancel the operation. • The selected photo is deleted. • If a custom picture file is embedded in the photo, it is also deleted. 5 When the confirmation message appears, press the joystick. Deleting a Photo from the Index Screen 1 Open the [Photos] Index Screen (A164). 2 Move the orange selection frame to the photo to be deleted. 3 Press the joystick to open the photo menu. 4 Select [Delete] and then press the joystick. 5 Select [OK] and then press the joystick. • Select [Cancel] instead to cancel the operation. • The selected photo is deleted. • If a custom picture file is embedded in the photo, it is also deleted. 6 When the confirmation message appears, press the joystick. Deleting Multiple Photos 1 Open the [Delete] submenu. [wOther Functions] > [Photos] > [Delete] 2 Select [Select] to select which photos to delete or [All] to delete all the photos and then press the joystick. • If you selected [Select], use the joystick to move between the photos. Press the joystick to select a photo to delete and repeat as necessary (up to 100 photo). After selecting all the desired photos, press the MENU button. 3 Select [OK] and then press the joystick. • Select [Cancel] instead to return to the photo selection screen. • While the photos are being deleted, you can press the joystick to cancel. 4 When the confirmation message appears, press the joystick. IMPORTANT • Be careful when deleting photos. Deleted photos cannot be recovered. • Photos that were protected using other devices cannot be deleted with the camcorder.[wOther Functions] [Photos] [Delete]
167 Photo Operations Copying Custom Picture Files You can copy to the camcorder a custom picture file embedded in a photo. Custom picture files can be copied from the photo playback screen or [Photos] index screen. Copying a File from the Playback Screen 1 Display the photo with the custom picture file to be copied (A164). 2 Press the joystick to open the photo menu. 3 Select [Copy / File] and then press the joystick. •The [/ Data 1/3] screen appears with a file slot in the camcorder highlighted in orange. • Alternatively, you can press the CUSTOM PICT. button. • You can push the joystick up/down to display the [/ Data 2/3] and [/ Data 3/3] screens. 4 Push the joystick left/right to select the desired file slot and then press the joystick. 5 Select [OK] and then press the joystick. • The custom picture file embedded in the selected photo is copied, overwriting the file in that slot. • Select [Cancel] instead to cancel the operation. 6 When the confirmation message appears, press the joystick. Copying a File from the Index Screen 1 Open the [Photos] Index Screen (A164). 2 Move the orange selection frame to the photo with the custom picture file to be copied. 3 Press the joystick to open the photo menu. 4 Select [Copy / File] and then press the joystick. •The [/ Data 1/3] screen appears with the orange selection frame indicating a file slot in the camcorder. • Alternatively, you can press the CUSTOM PICT. button. • You can push the joystick up/down to display the [/ Data 2/3] and [/ Data 3/3] screens. 5 Push the joystick left/right to select the desired file slot and then press the joystick. 6 Select [OK] and then press the joystick. • The custom picture file embedded in the selected photo is copied, overwriting the file in that slot. • Select [Cancel] instead to cancel the operation. 7 When the confirmation message appears, press the joystick. NOTES • You cannot copy the custom picture file to a file slot with a protected file. • By default, file slots [C7] to [C9] are protected.
