151 Selecting a Network Connection Selecting a Network Connection You can save up to 5 different network configuration profiles. You can select which one to use depending on where you plan to use the camcorder. If you just saved a new network configuration (A150), that network configuration will already be automatically selected and this procedure is not required. 1 Open the [Select] submenu. [w Other Functions] > [Network Settings] > [Connection Settings] > [Select] 2 Select the desired configuration number and then press the joystick. • The camcorder will connect to the selected network only when you activate a Wi-Fi function. The icon displayed on the top left of the screen will indicate the type of network selected and the connection status. Refer to the following table. Changing Network Settings 152 Changing Network Settings You can edit the settings of the currently selected network configuration profile even after the initial setup. Changing settings manually requires more advanced knowledge of Wi-Fi and network settings. Turn off any active Wi-Fi functions and wait until the network icons disappear from the screen before starting the procedure. 1 Select the network configuration profile whose settings you want to change (A151). 2 Open the [Edit] submenu. [wOther Functions] > [Network Settings] > [Connection Settings] > [Edit] 3 Continue with one of the following procedures depending on the settings you wish to change. Changing Network Settings 4 Select [Settings] and then press the joystick. 5 Select [Infrastructure] or [Camera Access Point]. • Continue the procedure as described in Manual Setup (A149, from step 3) or Camera Access Point (A149, from step 3). Renaming the Configuration Profile Each network configuration profile is stored under a configuration number ([No. 1] to [No. 5]). You can rename it with a more familiar name to make it easier to distinguish between various networks you use. 4 Select [Rename] and then press the joystick. 5 To enter the new [Network Configuration Name], select [Input] and then press the joystick. • Enter the desired network configuration name using the keyboard screen (A148).[w Other Functions] [Network Settings] [Connection Settings] [Edit]
153 Browser Remote: Controlling the Camcorder from a Network Device Browser Remote: Controlling the Camcorder from a Network Device After connecting the camcorder to a network, you can control the camcorder remotely from the Web browser of a connected network device* using the Browser Remote application. Browser Remote lets you monitor the image through live view, start and stop recording and remotely control the shutter speed, gain and other settings. You can also check the SD cards, remaining recording time, time code, etc. * For details about compatible devices, operating systems, Web browsers, etc., please visit your local Canon Web site. Setting Up Browser Remote You can set a unique camcorder identification code and designate the port that the Browser Remote application should use when accessing the camcorder through network. The port number (HTTP protocol) used by Browser Remote is usually set to port 80, but you can change it if necessary. The camcorder ID will appear on the Browser Remote screen, making it easy to identify which camcorder the application is controlling in case of a multi-camera shooting setup. 1 Open the [Remote Settings] submenu. [wOther Functions] > [Network Settings] > [Remote Settings] 2 Push the joystick up/down to select a value for the first digit of the port number and then press the joystick to move to the next digit. 3 After completing all the digits, select [Set] and then press the joystick to confirm the port number. 4 To enter the [Camera ID], select [Input] and then press the joystick. • Enter the desired camcorder ID using the keyboard screen (A148). 5 Select [OK] and then press the joystick to save the network configuration. 6 When the confirmation screen appears, press the joystick. Starting Browser Remote After connecting the camcorder to the network, you can start the Browser Remote application on the Web browser* of any network device connected to the same network. You can check the Browser Remote settings on the status screens (A183). * A Web browser that supports JavaScript and is enabled to accept cookies is required. Preparations on the Camcorder 1 Connect the camcorder to the desired network (A151). • Select a Camera Access Point connection. 2 To activate Browser Remote on the camcorder, open the [Browser Remote] submenu. When the icons turn white, the camcorder is ready to accept commands from the Browser Remote application. • With Camera Access Point connections, you need to actively connect the Wi-Fi enabled device to the camcorder. 4 Check the camcorder’s IP address on the status screen. • Press the STATUS button to open the status screens and push the joystick up/down to select the [Network Settings 4/9] status screen. • Check the IP address assigned to the camcorder ([IP Address]) and, if necessary, write it down. • Press the STATUS button to close the status screen. On the Connected Network Device 1 Start the Web browser on the network device. 2 Enter the camcorder’s URL and start the Browser Remote application. • Enter the IP address you checked previously into the Web browser’s address bar, adding the prefix “http://”. • If you chose a port other than the default port [80], you can specify it by adding “:nnn” at the end of the URL. For example “http://192.168.0.80:095”. • The Browser Remote screen will appear. • While the device is connected, the network connection indicator (‹‹‹‹) will repeatedly illuminate and go out. 3 Check the camcorder’s ID. • The camcorder’s ID will appear on the Browser Remote screen while live view is not activated. 155 Browser Remote: Controlling the Camcorder from a Network Device 4 Select the language for Browser Remote. 5 Use the Browser Remote controls to operate the camcorder. • Descriptions of the controls are given in the following pages. Detailed operation is given in each function’s reference page. 6 When you have finished using Browser Remote, on the camcorder set [wOther Functions] > [Browser Remote] to [Off] and the press the joystick. • The network icons will turn yellow and then disappear from the camcorder’s screen and the connection with the application will be terminated. NOTES • Depending on the network used and the strength of the Wi-Fi signal (for Wi-Fi connections), you may notice delays in the refreshing of the live view image and other settings. • While color bars are displayed on the camcorder, the live view image will not be displayed. • If Browser Remote is set to a language other than the language set on network device, the application may not be displayed correctly.

157 Browser Remote: Controlling the Camcorder from a Network Device The [Basic Control] Screen When using a smartphone or other device with a smaller screen, you can use the [Basic Control] screen that offers only the most important shooting controls (START/STOP, live view, and focus and aperture adjustment) but will fit in the screen without scrolling. For details, refer to each function's explanation. 1 Open the [Basic Control] screen. From the [Advanced Control] screen press the [Basic Control] tab.
FTP File Transfer 158 FTP File Transfer After connecting the camcorder to a network, you can transfer clips and photos from the camcorder to another device connected to the network using the FTP protocol. The following explanations assume that the FTP server is on, ready and correctly configured. Preparations Before you can transfer clips to a connected device, you need to configure the FTP server settings and other settings related to the handling of folders and files. FTP Server Settings To complete this procedure you will need detailed information about the FTP server that will be used as the destination when transferring clips. If necessary, consult the network administrator in charge of the FTP server. 1 Open the [FTP Server Settings] submenu. [w Other Functions] > [Network Settings] > [FTP Server Settings] 2 To enter the [FTP Server], select [Input] and then press the joystick. • Enter the FTP server’s IP address or host name using the keyboard screen (A148). • Though the FTP server’s host name is not required when using Camera Access Point connections, enter any characters to be able to continue the procedure. 3 Enter the [User Name], [Password], and [Destination Folder] in the same way. 4 To enter the [Port No.], select [Input] and then press the joystick. • Push the joystick up/down to select a value for the first digit and then press the joystick to move to the next digit. • After completing all the digits, select [Set] and then press the joystick. 5 Select [OK] and then press the joystick to confirm the port number. 6 Select whether to turn the passive mode [On] or [Off] and then press the joystick. • [Off] is the standard setting for most cases. [On] (passive mode) is more appropriate for FTP transfers within a network behind a firewall. 7 Select [OK] and then press the joystick to save the FTP server configuration. 8 When the confirmation screen appears, press the joystick. 159 FTP File Transfer FTP Transfer Settings These settings determine the handling of files and folders on the FTP server. 1 Open the [Create Folder by Date] submenu. [w Other Functions] > [Network Settings] > [FTP Transfer Settings] > [Create Folder by Date] 2 Select the desired option and then press the joystick. 3 Back in the [FTP Transfer Settings] submenu, select [Same Named Files] and then press the joystick. 4 Select the desired option and then press the joystick. Options [On]: A new subfolder under the transfer destination folder “YYYYMMDD\HHMMSS” will be created for every transfer operation. [Off]: All the files will be transferred to the folder set as [Destination Folder] in the FTP server settings. [Skip]: If a file with the same name already exists in the destination folder, the file will not be transferred. [Overwrite]: Even if a file with the same name already exists in the destination folder, the file will be transferred, overwriting any file with the same name in the destination folder. Transferring Clips and Photos You can transfer to the FTP server clips and photos recorded on the SD card. You can check the FTP-related settings on the status screens (A183). Transferring a Single Clip or Photo 1 Connect the camcorder to the desired network (A151). • With Camera Access Point connections, you need to actively connect the Wi-Fi enabled device to the camcorder. 2 Select the desired clip or photo and then press the joystick to open the clip/photo menu. 3 Select [FTP Transfer] and then press the joystick. 4 Select [OK] and then press the joystick. • Select [Cancel] instead to cancel the operation. • will appear on the top of the screen, next to the connection type icon. Transferring Multiple Clips or Photos 1 Open the index screen that contains the clips or photos you want to transfer (A126). 2 Connect the camcorder to the desired network (A151). • With Camera Access Point connections, you need to actively connect the Wi-Fi enabled device to the camcorder. 3 Open the [FTP Transfer] submenu. [w Other Functions] > [Clips] or [Photos] > [FTP Transfer] 4 Select [Select] to select which clips/photos to transfer, or [All] to transfer all the clips/photos and then press the joystick. • If you selected [Select], use the joystick to move between the clips/photos. Press the joystick to select a clip/photo to transfer and repeat as necessary. After selecting all the desired clips/photos, press the MENU button. 5 Select [OK] and then press the joystick. • will appear on the top of the screen, next to the connection type icon. When the icons turn white, all the applicable clips/photos will be transferred to the FTP server. • Select [Cancel] instead to cancel the operation. • While the clips/photos are transferred, you can press the joystick to cancel. • When the transfer is completed, the network icons will turn yellow and then disappear from the screen. 6 When the confirmation message appears, press the joystick. IMPORTANT • Observe the following precautions when transferring files. Failing to do so may interrupt the transfer and incomplete files may remain at the transfer destination. - Do not open the SD card compartment cover. - Do not disconnect the power source or turn off the camcorder. • If incomplete files remain at the transfer destination, check the content and make sure they are safe to delete before deleting them.
