418 If a problem occurs with the camera, first refer to this Troubleshooting Guide. If this Troubleshooting Guide does not resolve the problem, contact your dealer or nearest Canon Service Center. If the battery’s remaining capacity is 94% or higher, the battery will not be recharged (p.396). Do not recharge any battery pack other than genuine Canon Battery Pack LP-E6. If (1) the battery charger or bat tery pack has a problem or (2) communication with the battery pack failed (with a non-Canon battery pack), the protection circuit w ill stop the charging and the lamp will blink in orange at high speed. In the case of (1), unplug the charger’s power plug from the power outlet. Detach and reattach the battery pack to the charger. Wait a few minutes, then reconnect the power plug to the power outlet. If the problem persists, contact your dealer or nearest Canon Service Center. If the internal temperature of the batte ry pack attached to the charger is high, the charger will not charge the ba ttery for safety reasons (lamp off). During the charging, if the battery ’s temperature becomes high for any reason, the charging will stop automatically (lamp blinks). When the battery temperature goes down, the charging will resume automatically. Make sure the battery is install ed properly in the camera (p.30). Make sure the battery compar tment cover is closed (p.30). Make sure the card slot cover is closed (p.31). Recharge the battery (p.28). Troubleshooting Guide Power-Related Problems The battery pack does not recharge. The charger’s lamp blinks at high speed. The charger’s lamp does not blink. The camera does not operate even when the power switch is set to < 1>. COPY
419 Troubleshooting Guide If the power is turned off while an image is being recorded to the card, the access lamp will remain on or c ontinue to blink for a few seconds. When the image recording is comple ted, the power will turn off automatically. Use a fully-charged battery pack (p.28). The battery performance may have degraded. See [ 54: Battery info.] to check the battery’s recharge performance level (p.396). If the battery performance is poor, replace the battery pack with a new one. The number of possible shots will decrease with any of the following operations: • Pressing the shutter button hal fway for a prolonged period. • Often activating only the AF without taking a picture. • Using the lens’ Image Stabilizer. • Using the LCD monitor often. • Continuing Live View shooting or movie shooting for a prolonged period. • The Eye-Fi card’s transmission is enabled. Auto power off is in effect. If you do not want auto power off to take effect, set [ 52: Auto power off ] to [Disable ] (p.59). Even if [ 52: Auto power off ] is set to [Disable], the LCD monitor will still turn off after the camera is le ft idle for 30 min. (The camera’s power does not turn off.) The access lamp still blinks even when the power switch is set to < 2>. The battery becomes exhausted quickly. The camera turns off by itself. COPY
Troubleshooting Guide 420 The camera cannot be used with EF-M lenses (p.40). Install a recharged battery pa ck in the camera (p.28). Make sure the card is properly inserted (p.31). Slide the card’s write-protect switch to the write/erase position (p.31). If the card is full, replace the ca rd or delete unnecessary images to make space (p.31, 322). If you try to focus in the One-Shot AF mode while the focus confirmation light < o> in the viewfinder blin ks, a picture cannot be taken. Press the shutter button halfw ay again to refocus automatically, or focus manually (p.45, 110). If a card error message is di splayed, see page 33 or 432. Shooting-Related Problems The lens cannot be attached. The viewfinder is dark. No images can be shot or recorded. The card cannot be used. COPY
