321 K Protecting Images You can protect all the images in a folder or on a card at one time. When you select [ All images in folder ] or [ All images on card ] in [31: Protect images], all the images in the folder or on the card will be protected. To cancel the image protection, select [Unprotect all images in folder ] or [Unprotect all images on card ]. 3 Protecting All Images in a Folder or on a Card If you format the card (p.57), the protected images will also be erased. Movies can also be protected. Once an image is protected, it cann ot be erased by the camera’s erase function. To erase a protected im age, you must first cancel the protection. If you erase all the images (p.32 3), only the protected images will remain. This is convenient when you want to erase unnecessary images all at once. COPY
322 You can either select and erase unnecessary images one by one or erase them in one batch. Protected images (p.320) will not be erased. Once an image is erased, it cannot be recovered. Make sure you no longer need the image before erasing it. To prevent important images from being erased accidentally, protect them. Erasing a RAW+JPEG image will erase both the RAW and JPEG images. 1Play back the image to be erased. 2Press the < L> button. X The Erase menu will appear at the bottom of the screen. 3Erase the image. Select [ Erase], then press < 0>. The image displayed will be erased. By appending checkmarks < X> to the images to be erased, you can erase multiple images at one time. 1Select [Erase images]. Under the [ 31] tab, select [Erase images ], then press < 0>. 323 L Erasing Images 2Select [Select and erase images]. Select [Select and erase images ], then press < 0>. X An image will be displayed. To display the three-image display, press the < I> button. To return to the single-image display, press the < u > button. 3Select the images to be erased. Turn the < 5> dial to select the image to be erased, then press < 0 >. X A checkmark < X> will be displayed on the upper left of the screen. To select other images to be erased, repeat step 3. 4Erase the image. Press the < L> button. Select [OK ], then press < 0>. X The selected images will be erased. You can erase all the images in a fol der or on a card at one time. 324 You can adjust the brightness of the LCD monitor to make it easier to read. 1Select [LCD brightness]. Under the [ 52] tab, select [ LCD brightness ], then press < 0>. 2 Adjust the brightness. While referring to the gray chart, press the < U> key, then press < 0 >. 325 Changing Image Playback Settings Vertical images are rotated automatically so they are displayed vertically on the camera’s LCD monitor and on the computer instead of horizontally. You can change the setting for this feature. 1Select [Auto rotate]. Under the [ 51] tab, select [ Auto rotate], then press < 0>. 2Set the auto rotation. Select the desired setting, then press . OnzD The vertical image is automatically rotated during playback on both the camera’s LCD monitor and on the computer. OnD The vertical image is automatically rotated only on the computer. Off The vertical image is not automatically rotated. 3 Auto Rotation of Vertical Images Auto rotation will not work with vertical images captured while auto rotation was [ Off]. They will not rotate even if you later switch it to [On] for playback. Immediately after image capture, the vertical image will not be automatically rotated for the image review. If the vertical image is taken while the camera is pointed up or down, the image may not be rotated au tomatically for playback. If the vertical im age is not automatically rota ted on the computer screen, it means the software yo u are using is unable to rotate the image. Using the provided softwa re is recommended. COPY
327 Post-ProcessingImages You can process RAW images with the camera, resize (reduce the pixel count of) JPEG images, and apply Creative filters. The M icon at the upper right of the page title indicates that the function is available only in Creative Zone modes ( d/ s /f /a/F ). The camera may not be able to process images taken with another camera. Post-processing images as described in this chapter is not possible if the camera is set for multiple exposures, or while it is connected to a computer via the < C> terminal. COPY
328 You can process 1 images with the camera and save them as JPEG images. While the RAW image itself does not change, you can process the RAW image according to different conditions to create any number of JPEG images from it. Note that 41 and 61 images cannot be processed with the camera. Use Digital Photo Professional (provided software, p.456) to process those images. 1Select [RAW image processing]. Under the [ 31] tab, select [RAW image processing ], then press < 0 >. X 1 images will be displayed. 2Select an image. Turn the < 5> dial to select the image you want to process. By pressing the < I> button, you can switch to the index display and select an image. 3Process the image. Press < 0> and then the RAW- processing options will appear (p.330). Press the < V> keys to select an option, then turn the < 5> dial to change the setting. X The displayed image will reflect “Brightness adjustment”, “White balance”, and the other setting adjustments. 329 R Processing RAW Images with the Camera N Displaying the setting screen Press < 0> to display the setting screen. Turn the < 5> or < 6> dial to change the setting. To finalize the change and return to the screen in step 3, press . 4Save the image. Select [W ] (Save), then press < 0>. Select [OK ] to save the image. Check the destination folder and image file number, then select [ OK]. To process another image, repeat steps 2 to 4. To return to the menu, press the button. You can magnify the image by pressing the < u> button in step 3. The magnification will differ depending on the pixel count of [ Image quality] set in [ RAW image processing]. With < 9>, you can scroll around the magnified image. To cancel magnified view, press the < I> button. Images shot in an aspect ratio (p.229) of [ 4:3], [16:9], or [ 1:1] will be displayed in the respective aspec t ratio. JPEG images will also be saved in the set aspect ratio. R Processing RAW Images with the CameraN 330 Brightness adjustment You can adjust the image brightness up to ±1 stop in 1/3-stop increments. The displayed image will reflect the setting’s effect. Picture Style (p.126) You can select the Picture Style. Press the < U> key to select the Picture Style. To set the paramete rs such as sharpness, press the < B > button to display the setting screen. Press the < V> key to select a parameter to be adjusted, then press the key to change it. To finalize the setting and return to the screen in step 3, press < 0>. The displayed image will reflect the setting’s effect. White balance (p.134) You can select the white balance. If you select [ P], turn the < 6> dial to set the color temperature on the setting screen. The displayed image will reflect the setting’s effect. Auto Lighting Optimizer (p.140) You can set the Auto Lighting Optimizer. The displayed image will reflect the setting’s effect. High ISO speed noise reduction (p.141) You can set the noise reduction fo r high ISO speeds. The displayed image will reflect the setting’s effect. If the effect is difficult to discern, magnify the image (p.329). Image quality (p.116) You can set the image quality when converting an image to JPEG format. The image size displayed, such as [ ***M ****x****], has a 3:2 aspect ratio. The pixel count of each aspect ratio is indicated in the table on page 334. RAW Image Processing Options COPY
