(Using the cable for connection is not possible with the firmware version earlier than Version 2.0.0.) - Interface Cable IFC-40AB II or IFC-150AB II (both sold separately) must be used. When using the GP-E2 attached to the hot shoe , preparations as above are not necessary. For how to update the GP-E2’s firmware, refer to the Canon website.
