161 i: Setting the ISO Speed N You can set the manually-settable ISO speed range (minimum and maximum limits). You can set the mini mum limit within L (equivalent to ISO 50) to ISO 6400, and the maximum limit within ISO 100 to H (equivalent to ISO 12800). 1Select [ISO speed settings]. Under the [z 2] tab, select [ISO speed settings], then press < 0>. 2Select [ISO speed range]. 3Set the minimum limit. Select the minimum limit box, then press < 0>. Select the ISO speed, then press . 4Set the maxi mum limit. Select the maximum limit box, then press < 0>. i: Setting the ISO Speed N 162 You can set the automatic ISO speed range for Auto ISO within ISO 100 - ISO 6400. You can set the minimum limit within ISO 100 - ISO 3200, and the maximum limit within ISO 200 - ISO 6400 in 1-stop increments. 1Select [Auto ISO range]. 2Set the minimum limit. Select the minimum limit box, then press < 0>. Select the ISO speed, then press . 3Set the maximum limit. Select the maximum limit box, then press < 0>. Select the ISO speed, then press . 4Select [OK]. 3 Setting the ISO Speed Range for Auto ISO The [Minimum ] and [Maximum] settings will also be applied to the ISO speed safety shift’s minimum and maximum ISO speeds (p.405).
163 i: Setting the ISO Speed N You can set the minimum shutter speed so that the shutter speed set automatically will not be too slow when Auto ISO is set. This is convenient in the < d> and < f> modes when you use a wide- angle lens to shoot a moving subjec t or when you use a telephoto lens. It helps to reduce camera shake and blurred subjects. 1Select [Min. shutter spd.]. 2Set the desired minimum shutter speed. Select [ Auto] or [Manual ]. If you select [ Auto], turn the < 6> dial to set the desired speed, slower or faster, compared to the standard speed, then press < 0>. If you select [ Manual], turn the < 6> dial to select the shutter speed, then press < 0>. 3 Setting the Minimum Shutter Speed for Auto ISO Automatically set Manually set If a correct exposure cannot be obtained with the maximum ISO speed limit set with [ Auto ISO range ], a shutter speed slower than the [ Min. shutter spd. ] will be set to obtain a standard exposure. This function will not be applied to flash and movie shooting. When [ Auto: 0 ] is set, the minimum shutter speed will be the reciprocal of the lens focal length. A single step from [ Slower] to [Faster ] is equivalent to a single shutter speed stop.
164 By selecting a Picture Style, you can obtain image characteristics matching your photographic ex pression or the subject. The Picture Style is set automatically to [ D] (Auto) in the < A> mode. 1Press the button. 2Select [ A]. The Picture Style selection screen will appear. 3Select a Picture Style. 165 A Selecting a Picture Style N D Auto The color tone will be adjusted autom atically to suit the scene. The colors will look vivid, especially for blue skies, greenery and sunsets, and in nature, outdoor and sunset scenes. P Standard The image looks vivid, sharp, and crisp. This is a general-purpose Picture Style suitable for most scenes. Q Portrait For nice skin tones. The image looks softer. Suited for close-up portraits. By changing the [ Color tone] (p.168), you can adjust the skin tone. R Landscape For vivid blues and greens, and very sharp and crisp images. Effective for impressive landscapes. u Fine Detail Suited for detailed outline and fine te xture description of the subject. The colors will be slightly vivid. S Neutral Suited for processing the image with a computer. For natural colors and subdued images with modest brightness and color saturation. Picture Style Characteristics If the desired color tone is not obtained with [ Auto], use another Picture St yle.

The color of a subject that is captured in sunlight at a color temperature of 5200K will be adjusted to match the subject’s colorimetrical color. For subdued images with modest bri ghtness and color saturation. V Monochrome Creates black-and-white images. W User Def. 1-3 You can register a basic style such as [ Portrait], [Landscape ], a Picture Style file, etc., and adjust it as desired (p.172). Any User Defined Picture Style that is not set will have the same settings as the [ Standard ] Picture Style. Black-and-white images shot in JPEG cannot be turned into color. If you want to later shoot pictures in color, make sure the [ Monochrome] setting is canceled. You can display in the viewfinder when [ Monochrome] is set (p.409).
167 A Selecting a Picture Style N The Picture Style selection screen has icons for [ Strength], [Fineness ], or [ Threshold ] of [Sharpness ], [Contrast ], and other parameters. The numerals indicate the set values fo r these parameters as set by the respective Picture Style. Symbols Symbols gSharpness AStrength B Fineness C Threshold h Contrast i Saturation j Color tone k Filter effect (Monochrome) l Toning effect (Monochrome) [ Fineness ] and [Threshold ] for [Sharpness ] will not be applied to movies.
168 You can customize the Picture Styles. You can change or adjust the parameter settings of Picture Styles such as [ Strength], [Fineness ], or [Threshold ] of [Sharpness ], and [Contrast ], and other parameters from the default settings. To see the resulting effects, take test shots. To customize [ Monochrome], see page 171. 1Press the button. 2Select [A]. The Picture Style selection screen will appear. 3Select a Picture Style. Select a Picture Style, then press button. 4Select a parameter. Select the parameter (such as [Sharpness ] - [Strength ]) to be set, then press < 0>. 169 A Customizing a Picture Style N 5Set the parameter. Adjust the parameter as desired, then press < 0>. Press the < M> button to save the adjusted parameters. The Picture Style selection screen will reappear. Any parameter settings different from the default will be displayed in blue. By selecting [ Default set.] in step 4, you can revert the parameter settings of the respective Picture Style to its default. To shoot with the Picture Style you adjusted, first select the adjusted Picture Style, then shoot.
A Customizing a Picture Style N 170 Parameter Settings and Effects *1: Indicates the fineness of the outlines to be emphasized. The smaller the number, the finer the outlines can be emphasized. *2: Sets how much the outline is emphasized based on the difference in contrast between the subject and the surrounding area. The smaller the number, the more the outline will be emphasized when the contrast difference is low.
