2 Bosch Home Appliances en iSave these Instructions! The TASSIMO machine uses a short power-supply cord to prevent the cord from tangling and to reduce the risk of tripping over a longer cord. Extension cords may be used if care is exercised in their use. If extension cord is used: 1. The marked ‘electrical rating’ (nominal voltage and nominal current) of the electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance. 2. The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over accidentally. 3. The appliance is the grounded type. The extension cord should be a 3 prong “type 3” grounded cord. ¡ Important safeguards When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following: 1. Read all Instructions before using the TASSIMO brewer. 2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles. 3. Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is used around children. 4. Do not operate unattended. 5. Do not use the TASSIMO brewer for purposes other than its intended use. 6. To disconnect, press “off” switch, then remove plug from wall outlet. 7. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before replacing or removing parts, and before cleaning TASSIMO brewer. 8. Do not operate damaged TASSIMO brewer. Do not operate appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after TASSIMO brewer malfunctions, or has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Contact the Tassimo Customer Service Department at 1-877-TDISCS1. 9. To protect against ire, electric shock and injury to persons, do not immerse cord, plug, or body of the TASSIMO brewer in water or in any other liquid. See use and care manual for cleaning. 10. The use of accessories or attachements is not recommended by the TASSIMO brewer manufacturer and may result in ire, electric shock or injury to persons. 11. Do not use outdoors or when standing in damp area. 12. Do not allow cord to hang over edge of table or countertops, or touch hot surfaces. 13. Do not place housing, water tank or cup stand on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven. 14. Scalding may occur if brewing unit is opened during brewing cycles. IMPORTANT – This appliance is designed for domes- tic and not commercial use. – Only connect and operate the appliance in accordance with the speciications on the rating label. – Do not use your TASSIMO machine if either the power cord or the appliance is damaged. – Use indoors at room temperature only. Do not use more than 6560 feet / 2000 meters above sea level. – Do not let children or persons with reduced mental or sensory abilities or limited knowledge and experience use the appliance, unless they are super- vised or have been instructed in the use of the appliance by a person who is responsible for their safety. – Supervise children to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. – In the event of a malfunction, unplug the appliance immediately. – To avoid potential hazards, repairs such as replacing a damaged cord should only be performed by our service personnel. – Never immerse the appliance or power cord in water. – Please read this instruction manual and the short cleaning / descaling program instructions carefully and keep them for future reference. – This instruction manual describes various models. ¡ WARNING To reduce risk of ire and electric shock: – Do not remove the side covers. No user serviceable parts inside. – Repairs should only be carried out by authorized service personnel. – Do not immerse in any liquid. ¡ CAuTION To avoid the risk of scalding: – Never open the brewing unit during the brewing, cleaning or descaling process. Doing so could damage the brewer and scalding may occur. – Always wait until the Status LED F has stopped blinking before attempting to open the brewing unit. – Please note that the beverages are very hot when dispensed. – Please exercise caution when open- ing the brewing unit and handling the T DISCs, as some pressure may be released and T DISCs can be hot to the touch. – Do not use chemically softened water! Doing so could cause excess pressure and damage to T DISC, which could re sult in injury if brewer is opened before the Status LED F has stopped lashing. – Do not use T DISCs more than once. – Do not use damaged T DISCs. Your TASSIMO machine works exclusively
with specially developed discs known
as TASSIMO DISCs (T DISCs). When
you insert the T DISC, the machine
automatically reads the bar code printed
on the label. This contains exact details
of the amount of water needed, as well as
the brewing time and temperature required
to prepare the chosen beverage. T DISCs
are specially designed for use with the
TASSIMO brewing system and offer perfect
enjoyment, cup after cup.
To ensure long-term enjoyment, please
only use the T DISCs specially developed
for the TASSIMO machine.Your TASSIMO machine

Insert the plug into a wall outlet. ►You can adjust the length of the power cord by pushing it into or pulling it out of the cord compartment. ► Remove the water tank (5). ► Remove the cup stand (7) and insert it in the front of the appliance until you hear an audible click. 2. Then clean the water tank thoroughly under running water and i ll it up to the max mark with cool, fresh water. ! IMPORTANT – Do not use chemically softened water. 3. Remove the Service T DISC (6a) from the compartment (6) behind the water tank. 4. Replace the water tank by tilting it slightly and returning it to its original position until it clicks into place. 5. Turn the machine on by pressing the ON / OFF switch (1). The display elements (3) will light up briel y. 6. Select a large cup (minimum capacity 8 oz. / 200 ml) and place it on the cup stand. 1. 2. 3. 4. min. 8 oz. / 200 ml 5. 6. 6 Bosch Home Appliances en 7. Open the brewing unit (4) by lifting the handle (4a) and then pushing the brewing unit up. 8. Place the Service T DISC (6a) on the T DISC holder (4b) with the barcode facing down. Make sure that the l ap of the T DISC is centred in the slot in the front. 9. Close the brewing unit by i rst bringing it down. 10. Push the handle i rmly down into the machine, until you hear an audible click. 11. Press the Start / Stop button (2) to start the cleaning process. 12. When the cleaning process is complete, empty the cup and return it under the drink outlet. ! IMPORTANT Please complete steps 11 and 12 four times to ensure the machine is cleaned and prepared for the next steps. 13. Open the brewing unit, remove the Service T DISC and store it in the com- partment (6) for the Service T DISC and short instructions behind the water tank. iNote: Your TASSIMO machine is now ready for use. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. 4 x 13. 7 05/2012 en Controls and Displays ( please refer to the machine illustration at the beginning of this instruction manual ) ON / OFF switch (1) The ON / OFF switch is the main power switch for the machine. You use it to turn on your TASSIMO machine or turn it off completely. iNote: Your TASSIMO machine automatically switches to power-save mode. To save even more electricity, we recommend turning your TASSIMO machine off with the ON / OFF switch after each use. Start / Stop button (2) The Start / Stop button is used to start and interrupt the brewing, cleaning and descaling processes. Also you can add more water immediately after the brewing process by pressing and holding the Start / Stop button. Status LED F (3a) The Status LED indicates four machine conditions: – Steady orange: Machine is ready (for example, if the barcode was recognized) – Blinking orange: Machine is in the process of brewing a drink / cleaning / descaling – Steady red: Error mode (for example, if the barcode was not recognized) – Dimmed, orange light: Power-save mode ¡ CAuTION Wait until the Status LED F has stopped blinking before attempting to open the brewing unit. Fill water tank T (3b) This indicator lights up when the removable water tank needs to be reilled or is not in place. Descale required Q (3c) This indicator lights up or blinks when your TASSIMO machine needs to be descaled. iNote: Always descale your TASSIMO machine in accordance with the instructions provided under “Descaling” on page 13. 8 Bosch Home Appliances en Cup sizeTo use cups of different sizes in ac- cordance with your beverage selection, you can adjust the cup stand (7) of your TASSIMO machine. 1. For large cups or glasses, the cup stand can be removed completely. To remove, pull it forwards and out of the machine. 2. For smaller cups, push the cup stand into the relevant guide slots until it clicks into place. iNotes: – To ensure the best beverage quality and avoid splashing, always use the highest cup stand position possible. – To avoid spillage, select the appropriate cup size for each type of beverage.
