Insert the bowl:
– Tilt the bowl forwards and then set 
it down (1.),
– turn counter-clockwise until it locks 
into place (2.).
Press the Release button and move 
the swivel arm to position 3.
Hold disc holder at the lower end, 
ensuring that the two tips are face up.
Carefully place the required slicing or 
shredding disc onto the tips of the 
disc holder. In the case of reversible 
discs, ensure that the required side is 
face up.

Switch the unit on.
Switch the On / Off button to 
the “I” (On) position.
The illuminated ring (6, figure 1) 
flashes.
Set the rotary switch to the desired 
speed setting.
Put food to be processed in the feed 
tube and push down with the pusher.

building up in the outlet opening.

against the drive shaft.

appliance”.
Slicing and shredding tips:
– Shopping for fruits and vegetables 
that will fit into the feeding tube will 
simplify food preparation.
– To ensure even cutting results, 
process thin ingredients in bunches.
– Foods that are to be used together 
may be sliced together. This can be 
used to your advantage.

CLEANING THE APPLIANCE
Cleaning the base unit
Pull out the main plug.
Wipe the base unit and drive cover 
with a damp cloth. If required, use a 
little detergent.
Then dry the base unit.
Cleaning the bowl and tools
Bowl and tools are dishwasher-safe.
Do not wedge plastic parts in the 
dishwasher, as they could be 
permanently deformed during the 
washing process!
Cleaning the continuous-feed 
shredder
All parts of the continuous-feed shredder 
are dishwasher-safe.

TROUBLESHOOTING
The display flashes faster in switch 
position 1–4
– if the appliance has been operated 
incorrectly or 
– the fuse has tripped or
– the appliance is damaged.
,WARNING
Before dealing a problem, unplug the 
appliance.
Risk of electric shock or injury!

SAMPLE RECIPES 
French bread
2 Tbsp active dry yeast
2 cups hot water
3 Tbsp sugar 
1 tablespoon salt 
1/2 cup vegetable oil
5 cups of flour (white or wheat) 
2 Tbsp gluten
Place all ingredients in Bosch mixing 
bowl.
Thoroughly knead on speed 1 or 2 
(8–10 minutes). Let rise in the bowl 
10 minutes, then punch down. 
Punch down 4 or 5 times. 
Divide into 3–4 regular loaf pans or 
shape into rounds. Slash tops with 
sharp knife and brush with egg wash. 
Let raise until doubled in size.

Whole Wheat Bread 
3 cups hot tap water
1/3 cup oil
1/3 cup honey
1 Tbsp salt
2 Tbsp Vital Wheat Gluten
1 Tbsp Dough Enhancer
2 Tbsp SAF instant yeast
7–8 cups freshly milled whole wheat flour
Pour all ingredients into MUM5 
mixing bowl.* 
Turn mixer to speed 2 and allow to 
knead for 8–10 minutes, adding 
additional flour or water if needed.
Shape into 2–3 loaves.
Let rise until doubled.
Bake at 350°F for 30–35 minutes.
* This kitchen machine makes better

Once batter has doubled, beat once 
again.
Drop batter into well-greased muffin 
cups filling each cup 1/2 full.
Let rise again until doubled.
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes in a pre-
heated 375°F oven.
Place pan in top 1/3 of oven.
Remove from oven. Then remove 
puffs from pan.
Allow to cool briefly on wire cooling 
rack. Serve warm.
This yeast batter is somewhat coarse in 
texture. It serves well for breakfast, 
brunches and as a dessert with fresh fruit 
and cheese selections. It will freeze well...

Combine all ingredients, except 
apples and cinnamon and sugar 
mixture) in mixing bowl.
Knead until smooth and elastic, 
approximately 8–10 minutes.
Roll mixture out and place in lightly 
greased bun pan.
Dot lightly with butter, if desired.
Arrange apple slices over dough.
Sprinkle liberally with cinnamon and

Bake at 350°F for 15–20 minutes.
