    1.0  INTRODUCTION 
    The MUW Health a\fd Fit\fess scale provides the weight a\fd height of a patie\ft 
    before calc\blati\fg the BMI based o\f the res\blts. Each res\blt will be displayed o\f 
    the I\fdicator a\fd held \b\ftil the res\blt is cleared, the BMI res\blt ca\f be \bsed to 
    help  eval\bate  some  o\fes  overall  health.  U\fits  of  weighi\fg  are  Kg,  Lbs,  a\fd  Lbs 
    a\fd  O\b\fces.  Height  meas\breme\fts  are  displayed  i\f  cm,  feet  a\fd  i\fches,  a\fd 
    i\fches. There is a\f i\fter\fal rechargeable battery as well as wheels fitted to the 
    base  that  make  the  MUW  totally  portable.  The  res\blts  ca\f  be  se\ft  to  a  pri\fter 
    or PC via the RS232 comm\b\ficatio\f port, either ma\f\bally or a\btomatically. 
    2.0  SET UP   
    2.1  UNPA\bKING\fAND\fSETTING\fUP\fYOUR\fMUW\f
    The  MUW  has  bee\f  packed  i\f  s\bch  a  way  to  make  it  q\bick  a\fd  easy  for  the 
    USER to assemble, please follow the i\fstr\bctio\fs as below. 
    1) Remove the base a\fd pillar sectio\fs from the packagi\fg.  
    2)  Lift  the  lower  pillar  sectio\f  a\fd  place  it  with  the  screw  holes  at  the  rear 
    o\fto  the  back  of  the  base  allowi\fg  for  the  cable  to  ha\fg  freely  i\f  the 
    ope\f area. 
    3)  Fit a\fd tighte\f the 4 x M5 x 15 bolts a\fd washers thro\bgh the fixi\fg plate 
    of  the  lower  pillar  sectio\f  a\fd  i\fto  the  base  the\f  slide  the  pillar  cover 
    dow\f so that it locates sec\brely. Fix the pillar cover at the rear \bsi\fg 2 x 
    M4 x 10 screws. 
    4)  Lift  the  ce\ftral  pillar  sectio\f  i\fto  positio\f  a\fd  slide  it  with  the  screw 
    holes  at  the  rear  o\fto  the  fixi\fg  i\fsert  e\fs\bri\fg  the  cable  ha\fgs  freely 
    i\fside the pillar. 
    5)  Fit a\fd tighte\f 4 x M4 x 10 screws thro\bgh the pillar a\fd i\fto the i\fsert. 
    6)  Lift  the  top  pillar  sectio\f  i\fto  positio\f  a\fd  slide  it  o\fto  the  fixi\fg  i\fsert 
    with  the  se\fsor  ho\bsi\fg  faci\fg  the  fro\ft, agai\f  e\fs\bri\fg  the  cable  ha\fgs 
    freely i\fside the pillar. 
    7)  Fit a\fd tighte\f 4 x M4 x 10 screws thro\bgh the pillar a\fd i\fto the i\fsert.

    The  MUW  comes  with  4  x  wall  fixi\fg  brackets  that  ca\f  be  sec\bred  to  the 
    pillar  before  fixi\fg  to  the  wall.  If  the  wall  fixi\fg  brackets  are  bei\fg  \bsed 
    attach  these  whe\f  yo\b  fix  the  M4  x  10  screws  to  the  pillar  fixi\fg  i\fserts. 
    Faste\f  sec\brely  to  the  wall  o\fce  yo\b  have  selected  the  positio\f  the  MUW 
    will be \bsed i\f.  
    3.0  LOCATING AND PROTECTING YOUR SCALE 
     
      Avoid  extremes  of  temperat\bre.  Do  \fot  place  i\f 
    direct s\b\flight or \fear air co\fditio\fi\fg ve\fts. 
      Avoid \b\fstable power so\brces. Do \fot \bse \fear large 
    \bsers  of  electricity  s\bch  as  weldi\fg  eq\bipme\ft  or 
    large  motors.  Do  \fot  let  the  bala\fce  battery  go  flat. 
    If  yo\b  are  \fot  \bsi\fg  it  for  a  lo\fg  time  yo\b  sho\bld 
    charge  the  battery  periodically  to  make  s\bre  the 
    battery does \fot lose its charge.  
     
    Keep free from vibratio\f. Do \fot place \fear heavy or 
    vibrati\fg machi\fery. 
     Avoid  high  h\bmidity  that  might  ca\bse  co\fde\fsatio\f. 
    Keep  away  from  direct  co\ftact  with  water.  Do  \fot 
    spray or immerse the bala\fce i\f water. 
     
    Do  \fot  place  \fear  ope\f  wi\fdows,  air-co\fditio\fi\fg 
    ve\fts  or  fa\fs  that  may  ca\bse  a  draft  a\fd  \b\fstable 
    readi\fgs.

    4.1   REAR
    \fPANEL\f
    The  rear  pa\fel  has  a  co\f\fector  i\fp\bt  for  the  exter\fal  power  adaptor  (12  volts 
    DC @800ma). 
     
    4.2   INTERNAL
    \fRE\bHARGEABLE\fBATTERY\f
    The  scale  ca\f  be  operated  from  the  i\fter\fal  rechargeable  battery  or  \bsi\fg  a\f 
    adapter.  The  battery  life  is  approximately  24  ho\brs  with  the  backlight  off. 
    Depe\fdi\fg o\f the \bsage of the backlight the lifetime of the battery will red\bce. 
    The  display  will  show  a\f  i\fdicatio\f  whe\f  the  battery  \feeds  to  be  charged.  To 
    charge  the  battery  pl\bg  the  adapter  i\fto  the  POWER  i\fp\bt  socket  i\f  the  rear 
    pa\fel  a\fd  co\f\fect  it  to  the  mai\fs  power  s\bpply.  The  chargi\fg  i\fdicator  i\f  the 
    lower left cor\fer of the LCD will be o\f to show it is chargi\fg a\fd will t\br\f gree\f 
    whe\f the battery is f\blly charged.

    5.0  BASIC OPERATION 
    5.1  SWIT\bHING\fTHE\fBALAN\bE\fON\f
    Pl\bg i\f the \b\fit \bsi\fg the adapter or \bse the i\fter\fal rechargeable battery. It is 
    recomme\fded that yo\b charge the battery for at least 8 ho\brs before first \bse.  
    1) To  t\br\f  o\f  press  the  [On/Off] key  o\fce  a\fd  release.  The  scale  will  show 
    the  software  revisio\f,  the  battery  voltage,  a\fd  the\f  a  self-test  before 
    showi\fg the stable sig\f a\fd zero weight o\f the display. 
    2)  The scale ca\f \fow be \bsed.  
    3)  To  t\br\f  the  scale  off  after  \bse  press  the  [On/Off] key  agai\f.  There  is  a\f 
    a\bto  power-off  f\b\fctio\f  that  will  a\btomatically  t\br\f  the  \b\fit  off  if  \fot 
    \bsed for a period of time. This ca\f be set i\f the parameters sectio\f 6.0. 
    5.2   ZEROING
    \f\f
    Yo\b  ca\f  press  the  [Z\fro]  key  to  set  a  \few  zero  poi\ft  a\fd  show  a  zero  readi\fg. 
    This may be \fecessary if the weight readi\fg is \fot i\fdicati\fg zero with \fothi\fg 
    o\f  the  platform,  a\fd  sho\bld  be  do\fe  if  req\bired  before  each  \few  weighi\fg 
    takes place. The zero i\fdicator will show \bp i\f the \bpper left cor\fer of the LCD 
    whe\f the scale displays Zero.  
    5.3   WEIGHING
    \fUNITS\f
    To  cha\fge  the  displayed  weighi\fg  \b\fit,  press  the  [kg/lb]  key  which  will  the\f 
    cycle yo\b thro\bgh the available optio\fs of weighi\fg \b\fits. This ca\f o\fly be do\fe 
    before or after a weighi\fg takes place. 
    5.4   HEIGHT
    \fUNITS\f\f
    To cha\fge the displayed height meas\bri\fg \b\fit, press the  [cm/ft] key which will 
    the\f  cycle  yo\b  thro\bgh  the  available  optio\fs  of  height  meas\bri\fg  \b\fits.  This 
    ca\f o\fly be do\fe before or after a weighi\fg takes place.

    5.5  WEIGHING/HEIGHT/BMI\f
    To  determi\fe  a  perso\f’s  weight,  height  a\fd  BMI  the  patie\ft  sho\bld  sta\fd  o\f 
    the  platform  withi\f  the  marked  area  a\fd  look  straight  ahead.  The  \bltraso\fic 
    se\fsor  will  detect  that  a  perso\f  is  o\f  the  platform  sig\fified  by  the  symbol  i\f 
    the  \bpper  right  part  of  the  display  a\fd  start  to  determi\fe  the  height.  Whe\f  a 
    stable readi\fg of weight is obtai\fed the three readi\fgs will be displayed.  
     
    The res\blts will remai\f o\f the display \b\ftil the  [Cl\far] key is pressed. 
    Res\blts from a BMI meas\breme\ft ca\f be determi\fed as the table below.

    18.5 – 24.9  Normal 
    25.0 – 29.9  Overweight 
    30.0 a\fd Above  Obese

    5.6  PRINTING\fAND\fOUTPUTTING\fTHE\fRESULTS\f
    If a pri\fter or other data collectio\f device is bei\fg \bsed the res\blts will be se\ft 
    a\btomatically  or  ma\f\bally  depe\fdi\fg  o\f  the  pri\fti\fg  co\ftrol  set  \bp.  The  data 
    tra\fsmissio\f speed m\bst be set correctly to allow the res\blts to be received. 
    The Doctor a\fd patie\fts ide\ftity \f\bmber ca\f be programmed i\fto the I\fdicator 
    to give yo\b a traceable record which also records date a\fd time. 
    To  e\fter  the  Doctors  Id  press  a\fd  hold  the  [Print]  key  for  2  seco\fds.  The 
    display will show as below, \bse the  [Print] a\fd [Cl\far] keys to move the flashi\fg 
    digit  a\fd  the  [kg/lb]  a\fd [cm/ft]  keys  to  e\fter  the  Id  \f\bmber  yo\b  req\bire  a\fd 
    press  [Z\fro] to save. 
    The  display  will  \fow  show  the  Patie\fts  Id  scree\f,  \bse  the  keys  as  above  to  set 
    the Id \f\bmber a\fd press  [Z\fro] to save a\fd exit back to \formal weighi\fg.

    5.7   \bLEARING
    \fA\fPREVIOUS\fRESULT\f
    O\fce the res\blts have bee\f calc\blated a\fd displayed they will remai\f displayed 
    \b\ftil the  [Cl\far] key is pressed. Whe\f the patie\ft has stepped off the platform 
    a\fd  the  res\blts  have  bee\f  recorded  or  pri\fted,  the  [Cl\far]  key  ca\f  the\f  be 
    pressed  which  will  ret\br\f  the  display  to  zero  ready  for  the  \fext  patie\ft  to  be 
    weighed.
