Prestige 334 User’s Guide Chapter 17 Maintenance190 CHAPTER17 Maintenance This chapter displays system information such as ZyNOS firmware, port IP addresses and port traffic statistics. 17.1 Maintenance Overview The maintenance screens can help you view system information, upload new firmware, manage configuration and restart your Prestige. 17.2 Status Screen Click MAINTENANCE to open the Sta tus screen, which you can use to monitor your Prestige. Note that these fields are READ-ONLY and only for diagnostic purposes.

Table 59 Maintenance Status LABELDESCRIPTION System NameThis is the System Name you chose in the first Internet Access Wizard screen. It is for identification purposes Model NameThe model name identifies your device type. The model name should also be on a sticker on your Prestige. If you are uploading firmware, be sure to upload firmware for this exact model name. This field is not available on all models. ZyNOS Firmware Ve r s i o nThis is the ZyNOS Firmware version and the date created. ZyNOS is ZyXELs proprietary Network Operating System design. Routing ProtocolsThis shows the routing protocol - IP for which the Prestige is configured. This field is not configurable in all Prestige router models. WAN Port IP AddressThis is the WAN port IP address. IP Subnet MaskThis is the WAN port subnet mask. DHCPThis is the WAN port DHCP role - Client or None. LAN Port IP AddressThis is the LAN port IP address. IP Subnet MaskThis is the LAN port subnet mask. DHCPThis is the LAN port DHCP role - Server, Relay or None. Show StatisticsClick Show Statistics to display the real-time system statistics. Refer to Section for more information.

Also provided are system up time and poll interval(s). The Poll Interval(s) field is configurable. Figure 75 Maintenance System Statistics The following table describes the labels in this screen. 17.3 DHCP Table Screen DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, RFC 2131 and RFC 2132) allows individual clients to obtain TCP/IP configuration at start-up from a server. You can configure the Prestige as a DHCP server or disable it. When configured as a server, the Prestige provides the TCP/IP configuration for the clients. If set to None, DHCP service will be disabled and you must have another DHCP server on your LAN, or else the computer must be manually configured. Table 60 Maintenance System Statistics LABELDESCRIPTION PortThis is the WAN, LAN port. Status This displays the port speed and duplex setting if youre using Ethernet encapsulation and down (line is down), idle (line (ppp) idle), dial (starting to trigger a call) and drop (dropping a call) if youre using PPPoE encapsulation. TxPkts This is the number of transmitted packets on this port. RxPkts This is the number of received packets on this port. Collisions This is the number of collisions on this port. Tx B/s This displays the transmission speed in bytes per second on this port. Rx B/sThis displays the reception speed in bytes per second on this port. Up Time This is the total amount of time the line has been up. System Up TimeThis is the total time the Prestige has been on. Poll Interval(s)Enter the time interval for refreshing statistics in this field. Set IntervalClick this button to apply the new poll interval you entered in the Poll Interval(s) field. StopClick Stop to stop refreshing statistics, click Stop.

The DHCP table shows current DHCP Client information (including IP Address, Host Name and MAC Address) of all network clients using the DHCP server. Figure 76 Maintenance DHCP Table The following table describes the labels in this screen. 17.4 F/W Upload Screen Click MAINTENANCE, and then the F/W Upload tab. You must use a firmware upgrade tool to upload firmware to your Prestige. Find firmware at www.zyxel.com in a file that (usually) uses the system model name with a *.ZIP extension, for example, 360JJ3B2.ZIP. Download this file to your computer and unzip it. Table 61 Maintenance DHCP Table LABELDESCRIPTION # This is the index number of the host computer. IP AddressThis field displays the IP address relative to the # field listed above. Host Name This field displays the computer host name. MAC AddressThis field shows the MAC address of the computer with the name in the Host Name field. Every Ethernet device has a unique MAC (Media Access Control) address. The MAC address is assigned at the factory and consists of six pairs of hexadecimal characters, for example, 00:A0:C5:00:00:02. ReserveSelect this check box to have the Prestige always assign this IP address to this MAC address (and host name). ApplyClick Apply to have the MAC address and IP address also display in the LAN Static DHCP screen (where you can edit them). RefreshClick Refresh to renew the screen.
Prestige 334 User’s Guide Chapter 17 Maintenance194 Use the upgrade tool file with a *.exe extension found in the ZIP file and follow the steps to begin the firmware upgrade. 17.4.1 Preparing your Prestige for Firmware Upload 1Change the login password of the Prestige to the factory default password of “1234”. 2Change the IP address of the Prestige to the factory default IP address of “192.168.1.1” and make sure that your computer can connect to the Prestige. • If your computer’s IP address is dynamically assigned by the Prestige, release your computer’s IP address and renew it. • If your computer’s IP address is statically assigned, make sure that the IP address is in the same subnet as the Prestige, for example: set your computer’s IP address to 192.168.1.33. 3Logout of the Prestige. Figure 77 Maintenance Firmware Upload 4To open the upgrade tool double-click the upgrade tool file. 5Run the upgrade tool and wait about six minutes for the firmware upgrade to complete.

Figure 79 Upload Warning 6The Prestige automatically restarts in this time causing a temporary network disconnect. In some operating systems, you may see the following icon on your desktop. See the Firmware and Configuration File Maintenance chapter for upgrading firmware using FTP/TFTP commands. Note: Do not turn off the Prestige while firmware upload is in progress! Click Upgrade to start uploading the new firmware file.
Prestige 334 User’s Guide Chapter 17 Maintenance196 • Change your Prestige password and IP address back to your preferred setting. 8Log in again and check your new firmware version in the System Status screen. 17.5 Configuration Screen See the Firmware and Configuration File Maintenance chapter for transferring configuration files using FTP/TFTP commands. Click MAINTENANCE, and then the Configuration tab. Information related to factory defaults, backup configuration, and restoring configuration appears as shown next. Figure 81 Maintenance Configuration 17.5.1 Backup Configuration Backup configuration allows you to back up (save) the Prestige’s current configuration to a file on your computer. Once your Prestige is configured and functioning properly, it is highly recommended that you back up your configuration file before making configuration changes. The backup configuration file will be useful in case you need to return to your previous settings.
Prestige 334 User’s Guide 197Chapter 17 Maintenance Click Backup to save the Prestige’s current configuration to your computer 17.5.2 Restore Configuration Restore configuration allows you to upload a new or previously saved configuration file from your computer to your Prestige. After you see a “configuration upload successful” screen, you must then wait one minute before logging into the Prestige again. In some operating systems, you may see the following icon on your desktop. Figure 83 Temporarily Disconnected If you uploaded the default configuration file you may need to change the IP address of your computer to be in the same subnet as that of the default Prestige IP address (192.168.1.1). See your Quick Start Guide for details on how to set up your computer’s IP address. Table 62 Maintenance Restore Configuration LABELDESCRIPTION File Path Type in the location of the file you want to upload in this field or click Browse ... to find it. Browse... Click Browse... to find the file you want to upload. Remember that you must decompress compressed (.ZIP) files before you can upload them. Upload Click Upload to begin the upload process. Note: Do not turn off the Prestige while configuration file upload is in progress

Figure 84 Configuration Restore Error 17.5.3 Back to Factory Defaults Pressing the Reset button in this section clears all user-entered configuration information and returns the Prestige to its factory defaults as shown on the screen. The following warning screen will appear. Figure 85 Factory Defaults You can also press the RESET button on the rear panel to reset the factory defaults of your Prestige. Refer to the Hardware Installation chapter for more information on the RESET button. 17.6 Restart Screen System restart allows you to reboot the Prestige without turning the power off. Click MAINTENANCE, and then Restart. Click Restart to have the Prestige reboot. This does not affect the Prestiges configuration.
