Styles – Playing Rhythm and Accompaniment –
One Touch Setting is a powerful and conven ient feature that automatically calls up the most appropriate panel settings 
(Voices or effects, etc.) for the currently  selected Style, with the touch of a single button. If you’ve already decided which 
Style you wish to use, you can have One Touch Setting automatically select the appropriate Voice for you.

A Style contains eight channels: RHY1 (R hythm 1)–PHR2 (Phrase 2) below. You can  add variations and change the feel-
ing of a Style by selectively turning  channels on/off as the Style plays.
Style channels
• RHY1/2 (Rhythm 1/2) .....These are the basic parts of  the Style, containing the drum and percussion rhythm patterns.
•  BASS .................................The bass part uses various  appropriate instrument sounds to match the Style.
•  CHD1/2 (Chord 1/ 2) .......These...

You can adjust the volume balance between Style playback and the sound you play on the keyboard.
1Press the [BALANCE] button to call up the BALANCE (1/2) dis-
play.
2Adjust the Style volume by using the [2  ] slider or buttons.
Using the [1  ]–[8 ] sliders or buttons, you can adjust the volume of Song, 
Style, Multi Pad, MIC and keyboard parts.
3Press the [EXIT] button to close the BALANCE display.

– Recording Your Performances and Creating Songs –
The Tyros4 not only lets you play
 back commercially available MIDI 
songs, but also allows you to creat e your original songs by recording 
your performance. The recorded perfo rmance is made up of 16 parts 
(channels)—Keyboard parts, Multi Pad parts and Style Playback parts

5Press the SONG [PLAY/PAUSE] button to play back the 
recorded performance.
6Save the recorded performance as a Song.
Press one of the SONG [I]–[IV] buttons and call up the Song Selection display. 
The recorded Song can be saved in the Song Selection display. Refer to “Saving

This operation lets you save your original data (such as So ngs you’ve recorded and Voices you’ve edited) to a file. The 
explanations here apply when you save you r recorded performance as a Song file.
1In the Song selection display, select the appropriate tab (USER, 
HD or USB) to which you want to save the data by using the 
TAB [][ ] buttons.
2Press the [6  ] (SAVE) button to call up the file naming display....

You can play back the following types of Songs.
• Preset Songs (in the PRESET Page of the Song Selection display)
• Your own recorded Songs (saved to the USER/HD/USB Page)
• Commercially available Song data: SMF (Standard MIDI File) or ESEQ
1Press any of the SONG [I]–[IV] buttons to call up the Song 
Selection display.
2Press the TAB [ ][ ] buttons to select the location of the 
desired Song.
If you want to playback of Song in the USB storage device, connect the USB stor-

Operations During Playback
• Synchro Start   .....You can start playback as  soon as you start playing the key-
board. While playback is stopped, hold down the SONG 
[STOP] button and press the [PLAY/PAUSE] button. 
To cancel the Synchro Start function, hold down the SONG 
[STOP] button and press the [PLAY/PAUSE] button once 
again.
•  Pause   ...................Press the [PLAY/PAUSE]  button. Pressing it again resumes...

You can view the music notation  (score) of the selected Song.
1Select a Song (steps 1–3 on page 58).
2Press the [SCORE] button to call up the Score display.
You can look through the entire notation by using the TAB [ ][] buttons when 
the Song playback is stopped.
As starting playback, the “ball” bounces along through the score, indicating the 
current position.
You can change the displayed notation style by using the [1  ]–[8 ] but-
