4 Replacement Procedures 4.9 System Board 4.9 System Board \ Removing the System Board NOTE: Be careful of the eject button for the PC card. It can be damaged \ when removing the board. Make sure it is securely installed. Remove the System Board and Figure 4-16. 1. Remove the CRT cable from CN4 on the system board. 2. Remove the power button board cable from CN1. 3. Remove the USB cable from CN14 on the system board. 4. Remove the AC-IN cable from CN3. 5. Remove two M2.5x6 black flat head screw on the system board. 4.9 System Board 4 Replacement Procedures Satellite L300 / L305/Satellite Pro L300/ EQUIUM L300/ SATEGO L300 Maintenance Manual 4-33 Installing the System Board Install the System Board, AC-IN Cable and ODD Extended Board according to the following procedures and figure 4-16. NOTE: Be careful of the eject button for the PC card. It can be damaged when i\ nstalling the system board. Make sure it is pushed in. 1. Seat the system board in the correct position. 2. Secure the system board with two M2.5x6 black flat-head screws. 3. Connect the AC-IN cable to CN3 on the system board. 4. Connect the USB cable to CN14 on the system board. 5. Connect the power button board cable to CN1 on the system board. 6. Connect the CRT cable to CN4 on the system board.

Be sure to let \ it cool down before starting the repair work. Do not touch or cause damage to the fan in the cooling module. Removing the CPU Cooling Module and Fan (For Intel CPU) Remove the CPU cooling module and fan according to the following procedures and Figures 4-17, 4-18 and 4-19. 1. Remove the tape on the CPU cooling module. 2. Remove the fan cable from CN501 on system board. 3. Remove two M2.5x5 black flat head screws on the fan. 4. Remove the fan. 5. Remove two M2x3 white flat head screws on the CPU cooling module bracket. 6. Remove the CPU bracket. 7. Remove the CPU cooling module. \

4 Replacement Procedures 4.10 CPU Cooling Module and Fan Figure 4-19 Applying silicon grease Installing the CPU Cooling Module and Fan(For Intel CPU) Install the cooling Module according to the following procedures and Fig\ ures 4-17, 4-18 and 4-19. CAUTION: When installing the cooling module, keep the following in mind: 1. Be sure to confirm the correct position for the module. 2. Secures the relevant screws on the main board according to the number se\ quence sealed on heat sink module. NOTE: Apply silicon grease with a special syri nge to cover the surface of the CPU chip completely. 1. If silicon grease is already applied to the CPU and fan module, wipe them off with a cloth. By using a special syringe, apply silicon grease G7762 to the CPU chip c\ enter so that the entire CPU chip is covered with the grease G7762. 2. Install the CPU cooling module into the correct position on the system board. 3. Place the CPU cooling module and bracket in the correct position and secure it with two M2x3 white flat-head screws. 4. Place the fan in the correct position and secure it with two M2.5x5 blac\ k flat head screws. 5. Remove the CPU cooling module and Fan(For AMD CPU) Remove the CPU cooling module and fan according to the following procedures and Figures 4-20, 4-21 and 4-22. 1. Remove the tape on the CPU cooling module. 2. Remove the fan cable from CN501 on system board. 3. Remove two M2.5x5 black flat head screws on the fan. 4. Remove the fan. 5. Remove two M2x3 white flat head screws on the CPU cooling module bracket. 6. Remove the CPU bracket. 7. Remove two CPU cooling module securing screws. 8. Remove the CPU cooling module.

CAUTION: When installing the cooling module, keep the following in mind: 1. Be sure to confirm the correct position for the module. 2. Secure the relevant screws on the main board according to the number sequence sealed on the heat sink module. NOTE: Apply silicon grease with a special syri nge to cover the surface of the CPU chip completely. 1. If silicon grease is already applied to the CPU and fan module, wipe it off with a cloth. By using a special syringe, apply silicon grease G7762 to the CPU chip c\ enter so that the entire CPU chip is covered with the grease G7762. 2. Install the CPU cooling module into the correct position on the system board and secure it with two CPU thermal module securing screws. 3. Place the CPU cooling module and bracket in the correct position and secure it with two M2x3 white flat-head screws. 4. Place the fan in the correct position and secure it with two M2.5x5 blac\ k flat head screws. 5. Connect the fan cable to CN501 on the system board. 4 Replacement Procedures 4.11 CPU 4.11 CPU Removing the CPU Remove the CPU according to the following procedures and Figures 4-23, 4-24\ and 4-25. CAUTION: When removing the CPU, keep the following in mind: The CPU can become very hot during operation. Be sure to let it cool dow\ n before starting repair work. NOTE: FOXCONN CPU socket will be 180 degrees to the right. 1. Unlock the CPU by rotating the cam on the CPU socket 120 degrees to the left with a flat-blade screwdriver (in the order shown in the figure below). 2. Remove the CPU. 4.11 CPU 4 Replacement Procedures Installing the CPU Install the CPU according to the following procedures and Figures 4-24, \ 4-25. 1. Check that the triangle on the cam is in the unlock position. 2. Attach the CPU to the correct position in the CPU socket. Align the CPU \ with the CPU socket by using the triangle as a guide.
