MULTI CHANNEL AV RECEIVER STR-DH750/STR-DH550 Setting the Bluetooth Standby mode (BT Standby ) (for STR-DH750 only) You can set the Bluetooth Standby mode so that the receiver can be controlled by a BLUETOOTH device even when the receiver is in standby mode. 1. Press BLUETOOTH on the receiver. You can also select [ Listen] - [BLUETOOTH ] from the home menu. 2 . Press OPTIONS . The options menu appears. 3 . Select [BT Standby ]. 4 . Select [ On]. The receiver turns on automatically when you establish a BLUETOOTH connection from a BLUETOOTH device. Select [ Off] to turn off this function. Note When the receiver is in standby mode, the (on/standby) indicator on the front panel lights up in amber if [ BT Standby] is set to [ On]. Press BLUETOOTH on the receiver. You can also select [ Listen] - [BLUETOOTH ] from the home menu. 2 . Press OPTIONS . The option menu appears. 3 . Select [BT AAC] or [BT aptX ]. 4 . Select [ On] or [ Off]. On: AAC and/or aptX audio is available. Off : AAC and/or aptX audio is not available. Note You can enjoy high-quality sound if AAC or aptX is enabled. Select [ Listen] - [FM ] or [AM] from the home menu. 2 . Select the preset number to which you want to assign a name. 3 . Press OPTIONS . The options menu appears. 4 . Select [Name Input ]. 5 . Press / repeatedly to select a character, then press . You can move the input position backward and forward by pressing /. 6 . Repeat step 5 to input characters one by one, then press . MULTI CHANNEL AV RECEIVER STR-DH750/STR-DH550 Auto Format Direct (A.F.D.)/2 -channel sound mode Auto Format Direct (A.F.D.) mode: This mode allows you to listen to higher-fidelity sound and select the decoding mode for listening to a 2-channel stereo or monaural sound as multi-channel sound. 2-channel sound mode: You can switch the output sound to 2-channel sound regardless of the recording formats of the software you are using, the playback device connected, or the sound field settings of the receiver. A.F.D. Auto (A.F.D. AUTO) : Presets the sound as it was recorded/encoded without adding any surround effects. However, for USA and Canada models, this receiver will generate a low -frequency signal for output to the subwoofer when there is no LFE signals. Multi Stereo (MULTI ST.) : Outputs 2-channel left/right or monaural signals from all speakers. However, sound may not be output from certain speakers depending on the speaker settings. 2ch Stereo (2CH ST.) : The receiver outputs the sound from the front left/right speakers only. There is no sound from the subwoofer. Standard 2-channel stereo sources completely bypass the sound field processing and multi-channel surround formats are downmixed to 2-channels. Analog Direct (A. DIRECT) : You can switch the audio of the selected input to 2-channel analog input. This function enables you to enjoy high-quality analog sources. Only the volume and front speaker level can be adjusted when using this function. Note You cannot select [Analog Direct] while using the BD/DVD, GAME, or USB function. They bring the exciting and powerful sound of movie theaters into your home. HD -D.C.S. : HD Digital Cinema Sound (HD-D.C.S.) is Sony’s new innovative home theater technology using the latest acoustic and digital signal processing technologies. It is based on the precise response measurement data of a mastering studio. With this mode, you can enjoy Blu -ray and DVD movies at home with not only a high-quality of sound but also the best sound ambience, just as the movie’s sound engineer intended in the mastering process. Dynamic: This setting is suitable for an environment which is reverberant but lacks a spacious feel (where sound absorption is not sufficient). It emphasizes the reflection of sound and reproduces the sound of a large, classic movie theater. This emphasizes the spacious feel of a dubbing theater and creates a unique acoustic field. Theater: This setting is suitable for a general living room. It reproduces the reverberation of sound just like in a movie theater (dubbing theater). It is most appropriate for watching content recorded on a Blu -ray Disc when you want the atmosphere of a movie theater. Studio: This setting is suitable for a living room with the appropriate sound devices. It reproduces the reverberation of sound provided when a theatrical sound source is remixed for a Blu -ray Disc to a volume level suitable for home use. The level of reflection and reverberation of sound is kept to a minimum, while dialogues and surround effects are reproduced vividly. PLII Movie (PLII MV) : Performs Dolby Pro Logic II Movie mode decoding. This setting is ideal for movies encoded in Dolby Surround. In addition, this mode can reproduce sound in 5.1-channel format when watching videos of overdubbed or old movies. PLIIx Movie (PLIIX MV) (for STR-DH750 only): Performs Dolby Pro Logic IIx Movie mode decoding. This setting expands Dolby Pro Logic II Movie or Dolby Digital 5.1 to 7.1 discrete movie channels. Neo:6 Cinema (NEO6 CIN) (for STR-DH750 only): Performs DTS Neo:6 Cinema mode decoding. Sources recorded in 2-channel format are enhanced up to 7 channels. Stadium (STADIUM) : Reproduces the feel of a large open -air stadium. Sports (SPORTS) : Reproduces the feel of sports broadcasting. PLII Music (PLII MS) : Performs Dolby Pro Logic II Music mode decoding. This setting is ideal for normal stereo sources such as CDs. PLIIx Music (PLIIX MS) (for STR-DH750 only) : Performs Dolby Pro Logic IIx Music mode decoding. This setting is ideal for normal stereo sources such as CDs. HP 2CH : This mode is selected automatically if you use headphones (except when [Analog Direct] is selected). Standard 2-channel stereo sources completely bypass the sound field processing and multi-channel surround formats are downmixed to 2 channels except LFE signals. HP Direct (HP DIRECT) : This mode is selected automatically if you use headphones when [Analog Direct] is selected.
