For more information, see “Selecting the audio out mode” on page47. Warning Loud noise can damage your hearing. When using headphones, use the lowest volume setting on your headphones that still lets you hear the sound. Notes • If you connect headphones when your TV is turned off, then you turn on your TV, the audio plays through the headphones. • You can also connect an amplifier, home theater system, or sound bar to the /AUDIO OUT jack. If you want to connect an amplifier, home theater system, or sound bar, you need to disconnect the headphones. Back of TV

Digital audio 1Make sure that your TV’s power cord is unplugged and the external speaker system or sound bar is turned off. 2Connect a digital optical audio cable (not provided) to the DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT jack on the back of your TV and to the optical AUDIO IN jack on the external speaker system or sound bar. 3Plug your TV’s power cord into a power outlet, then turn on your TV. 4Turn on the external speaker system or sound bar, then set it to the correct source. For more information, see the documentation that came with the external speaker system or sound bar. 5On your TV, highlight the Digital Audio Format/Audio Delay option on the Sound menu, then press ENTER. Set the Audio Format option to PCM. See “Adjusting sound settings” on page46. 29 LC-32LB370U/LC-50LB370U Sharp 32"/50" LED TV Analog audio When you connect external speakers or a sound bar to the /AUDIO OUT jack, the T V speakers are muted. 1Make sure that your TV’s power cord is unplugged and the external speaker system or sound bar is turned off. 2Connect an audio cable (not provided) to the /AUDIO OUT jack on the back of your TV and to the AUDIO IN jacks on the external speaker system or sound bar. 3Plug your TV’s power cord into a power outlet, then turn on your TV. 4Turn on the external speaker system or sound bar, then set it to the correct source. Refer to the documentation that came with your devices for connection information. Just remember to use the best connection types available for the best picture and sound. Caution • Your TV should only be operated from the power source indicated on the label. • Always unplug the AC power cord from the power outlet when you will not be using your TV for an extended period of time.
32 LC-32LB370U/LC-50LB370U Sharp 32"/50" LED TV Using the remote control Installing remote control batteries 1While pressing the release latch on the back of the remote control, lift the battery compartment cover off of the remote control. 2Insert two AAA batteries into the battery compartment. Make sure that you match the + and – symbols on the batteries with the + and – symbols in the battery compartment. 3Replace the battery compartment cover. Aiming the remote control • Point the remote control towards the remote sensor on the front of your TV. For the location of the remote sensor, see “Front” on page9. Cautions • Batteries should not be exposed to excessive heat, such as sunshine, heat registers, or fire. • Battery chemicals can cause a rash. If the batteries leak, clean the battery compartment with a cloth. If chemicals touch your skin, wash immediately. • Make sure that batteries are disposed of correctly. Do not burn or incinerate. Notes • Do not mix batteries of different types. • Do not mix old and new batteries. • Remove batteries when the charge is depleted. • If the remote control is not going to be used for an extended period of time, remove the batteries.
33 LC-32LB370U/LC-50LB370U Sharp 32"/50" LED TV Programming universal remote controls You can operate your Sharp TV with a new or existing universal remote control. 1See the table in “Viewing universal remote control codes” for common codes. If you have problems programming your remote or need a different remote control code, see the instructions that came with the remote control or check the remote control manufacturer’s website for the latest remote control code information. 2Follow your universal remote control’s instructions to enter the TV code you found in Step 1. For additional help and information: • Visit the remote control manufacturer’s website • Call technical support for the universal remote control or cable/satellite company of the remote/set-top box you are trying to program. Viewing universal remote control codes You can view a list of universal remote control codes in the on-screen menu. 1Press MENU. 2Press W or X to highlight Help, then press ENTER. 3Press S or T to highlight Learn More, then press ENTER or X. 4Press S or T to highlight Remote control codes, then press ENTER or X. Your TV displays information about the universal remote codes that you can use to make your TV work with a universal remote. 5Press ENTER to view a list of available codes. Tips • If your universal remote control has a code search feature, run a code search to identify a code that matches your TV. See your universal remote control’s instructions for details. • If your universal remote control has a “Learn” feature, you can manually program it using the Sharp TV remote to “teach” the commands one at a time. See your universal remote control’s instructions for details. Tips • The brand name is often visible on the front of the universal remote control, and the model number is often visible on the back. • If your universal remote control is not listed, refer to your universal remote control’s instructions and try codes for the brands Orion, Emerson, Memorex, Sansui, Sylvania, or Zenith. You may need to try several codes before finding a match.

The wizard guides you through setting up basic settings. 1Make sure that you have: • Installed the remote control batteries. (See page 32 for details.) • Connected an antenna, cable TV, or satellite TV. (See page 14 through 18 for details.) • Connected the power cord. (See page 31 for details.) 2Press (power) to turn on your T V. 3Press S or T to highlight a language, then press ENTER. 4Press W or X to highlight Home Use Mode or Store Display Mode, then press ENTER. If you selected Store Display Mode, a message asks if you are sure you want this mode. Select OK to continue using Store Display Mode, or select Cancel to change to Home Use Mode, then press ENTER. Store Display Mode is not an energy savings mode.5Press W or X to highlight an option, then press ENTER. You can select: •Watch T V to skip the customization options. You can press MENU later to access the on-screen menus and customize viewing settings. Go to “Finish the wizard” on page35. •Customize TV to set viewing options to maximize your viewing experience. Go to “Customize my TV” on page34. Customize my TV 6Press S or T to highlight a time zone, then press ENTER. 7Press S or T to select On to turn on Daylight Saving Time or Off to turn off Daylight Saving Time , then press ENTER. 8Press W X or ENTER to highlight Month, Day, or Year, then press S or T adjust the setting. When you are finished, use the arrow buttons to highlight Next, then press ENTER.

When you are finished, use the arrow buttons to highlight Next, then press ENTER. 10Press S or T to highlight a video input source, then press X to move to the label area. 11Press S or T to highlight a preset label or Custom. 12If you select a preset label, press ENTER. The video input box on the left is selected so you can label a different video input source. OR If you select Custom, press ENTER, then press S or T to enter the first character in your custom label, then press X to move to the next character position. Use the arrow buttons to enter additional characters or to move from character to character. You can enter 10 characters (letters or numbers). When you have finished creating your label, press ENTER. The video input box on the left is selected so you can label a different video input source. 13Repeat Steps 10 through 12 to label additional video input sources. 14When you have finished creating input labels, use the arrow buttons to highlight Next, then press ENTER. Finish the wizard15Press S or T to highlight Cable/Satellite Box, Cable from the wall, or Antenna, then press ENTER. •If you select Cable/Satellite Box, a screen opens that shows you the ways you can connect the box. Press ENTER. •If you select Cable from the wall or Antenna, your TV starts scanning for channels and displays a progress screen. The scan may take several minutes. When a message tells you that setup is complete, press ENTER to close the menu. 16Press ENTER to close the wizard. If you selected: •Cable from the wall or Antenna, your TV tunes to the first channel it found in the scan. •Cable/Satellite box, press INPUT to open the INPUT SOURCE list, press S or T to select the video input (HDMI, Component, or AV) you connected the box to, then press ENTER. Your TV switches to the input you selected. Note You can press EXIT, or select Skip and press ENTER, to stop the auto channel search, but you will need to run the auto channel search again to create a channel list.

See “Connecting power” on page31. 2Press POWER to turn on your TV. The power indicator turns blue. 3Press POWER again to turn off your TV. Your TV enters standby mode, and the power indicator turns red. Selecting the video input source 1Turn on your T V, then press INPUT. 2Press S or T to select a video input source, then press ENTER. On-screen menu overview Accessing the menus 1Press MENU. 2Press W or X to highlight a menu icon, then press ENTER. Picture menu (TV mode) Sound menu (TV mode) Warning When your TV is in standby mode, it is still receiving power. To completely disconnect power, unplug the power cord. Note If your T V does not receive an input signal for several minutes, it automatically goes into standby mode. Note The INPUT SOURCE list displays Component when a component video device is connected and turned on or displays AV when an AV device is connected and turned on. Notes • Depending on the signal source selected, you may see different options on your screen. • Menu items that are not selectable are grayed out.
