    Using HDMI (best)
    To connect a computer using HDMI:
    1Make sure that your TV’s power cord is unplugged and the computer is turned off.
    2Connect an HDMI cable (not provided) to one of the HDMI jacks on the side of your TV and to the HDMI OUT 
    jack on the computer.
    3Plug your TV’s power cord into a power outlet, then turn on your TV and the computer.
    4Press INPUT to open the INPUT SOURCE list.
    5Press 
    S or T to highlight HDMI 1or HDMI 2, then press ENTER. 
    6Adjust the display properties on the computer, if necessary.

    Using DVI (same as HDMI but requires an audio connection)
    To connect a computer using DVI:
    1Make sure that your TV’s power cord is unplugged and the computer is turned off.
    2Connect an HDMI-DVI adapter (not provided) to one end of an HDMI cable (not provided), then connect the 
    adapter to the DVI OUT jack on the computer.
    3Connect the other end of the cable to the HDMI 1/ARC/DVI jack on the side of your TV.
    4Connect an audio cable with a stereo mini plug (not provided) to the PC/DVI AUDIO IN jack on the back of your 
    TV and to the AUDIO OUT (headphone) jack on the computer.
    5Plug your TV’s power cord into a power outlet, then turn on your TV and the computer.
    6Press INPUT to open the INPUT SOURCE list.
    7Press 
    S or T to select HDMI 1, then press ENTER.
    8Adjust the display properties on the computer, if necessary.
    Note
    You must use the HDMI 1/ARC/DVI jack to connect a computer using DVI. If 
    you use another HDMI jack, you will not hear sound from the TV speakers.
    Note
    When you connect the audio using the PC/DVI AUDIO IN jack, the audio 
    output is analog.

    Connecting a USB flash drive
    To connect a USB flash drive:
    1Plug a USB flash drive into the USB port on the side of your TV.
    2If your TV is turned on when you connect the USB flash drive, press 
    S or T to select Ye s in the message that 
    appears, then press ENTER. The PHOTOS menu opens.
    OR
    If you switch to a different video input source after you plug in the USB flash drive and want to switch back to 
    the drive, press INPUT to open the INPUT SOURCE list, press 
    S or T to select USB (Photos), then press ENTER. 
    The PHOTOS menu opens.
    Caution
    Do not remove the USB flash drive or turn off the TV while using the USB 
    flash drive. You may lose data or damage the USB flash drive.
    Note
    The PHOTOS viewer only supports JPEG format images (with “.jpg” file 
    extensions) and not all JPEG files are compatible with your TV.

    Connecting headphones
    When you connect headphones, the TV speakers muted. 
    To connect headphones:
    1Connect the headphones to the /AUDIO OUT jack on the side of your TV. 
    2In the screen that opens, press 
    W or X to highlight Headphone, then press ENTER. For more information, see 
    “Selecting the audio out mode” on page44.
    Warning
    Loud noise can damage your hearing. When using headphones, use the 
    lowest volume setting on your headphones that still lets you hear the sound.
    Notes
    • If you connect headphones when your TV is turned off, then you turn on 
    your TV, the TV speakers are muted and the audio plays through the 
    headphones.
    • You can also connect an amplifier, home theater system, or sound bar to 
    the /AUDIO OUT jack. If you want to connect an amplifier, home 
    theater system, or sound bar, you need to disconnect the headphones.

    Connecting a basic home theater system
    Using digital audio
    To connect a basic home theater system or sound bar using digital audio:
    1Make sure that your TV’s power cord is unplugged and the home theater system or sound bar is turned off.
    2Connect a digital optical audio cable (not provided) to the DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT jack on the back of your T V 
    and to the optical AUDIO IN jack on the digital home theater system or sound bar.
    3Plug your TV’s power cord into a power outlet, then turn on your TV.
    4Turn on the home theater system or sound bar, then set it to the correct source. For more information, see the 
    documentation that came with the home theater system or sound bar.
    5On your TV, set the Digital Audio Out option on the SOUND menu to PCM. See “Adjusting sound settings” on 
    page 43.

    Using analog audio
    When you connect a home theater system or sound bar to the  /AUDIO OUT jack, the TV speakers are muted.
    To connect a home theater system or sound bar using analog audio:
    1Make sure that your TV’s power cord is unplugged and the home theater system or sound bar is turned off.
    2Connect a 3.5mm audio cable (not provided) to the /AUDIO OUT jack on the side of your TV and to the 
    AUDIO IN jacks on the analog home theater system or sound bar.
    3Plug your TV’s power cord into a power outlet, then turn on your TV.
    4Turn on the home theater system or sound bar, then set it to the correct source. For more information, see the 
    documentation that came with the home theater system or sound bar.
    Notes
    • For information about selecting the audio out mode for a home theater, 
    see the Headphones/Audio Out option in “Adjusting sound settings” 
    on page43.
    • You can connect headphones to the  /AUDIO OUT jack. If you want to 
    use headphones, you need to disconnect the amplifier, home theater 
    system, or sound bar.

    Connecting a home theater system with multiple devices
    The connections you make depend on the video and audio jacks available on your devices. Refer to the 
    documentation that came with your devices for connection information.
    Just remember to use the best connection types available for the best picture and sound. For information about 
    connection types, see “What connection should I use?” on page11.

    Connecting power
    To connect the power:
    1Connect the AC power cord to the AC IN connector on the back of your TV.
    2Connect the other end of the cord to a power outlet.
    Caution
    • Your TV should only be operated from the power source indicated on 
    the label.
    • Always unplug the AC power cord from the power outlet when you will 
    not be using your TV for an extended period of time.

    Using the remote control
    Installing remote control batteries
    To install remote control batteries:
    1While pressing the release latch on the back of 
    the remote control, lift the battery 
    compartment cover off of the remote control.
    2Insert two AAA batteries into the battery 
    compartment. Make sure that you match the + 
    and – symbols on the batteries with the + and – 
    symbols in the battery compartment.
    3Replace the battery compartment cover.
    Aiming the remote control
    To aim the remote control:
    • Point the remote control towards the remote 
    sensor on the front of your TV. For the location 
    of the remote sensor, see “Front” on page8.
    Cautions
    • Batteries should not be exposed to 
    excessive heat, such as sunshine, heat 
    registers, or fire.
    • Battery chemicals can cause a rash. If the 
    batteries leak, clean the battery 
    compartment with a cloth. If chemicals 
    touch your skin, wash immediately.
    • Make sure that batteries are disposed of 
    correctly. Do not burn or incinerate.
    Notes
    • Do not mix batteries of different types.
    • Do not mix old and new batteries.
    • Remove batteries when the charge is 
    depleted.
    • If the remote control is not going to be 
    used for an extended period of time, 
    remove the batteries.

    first time
    The first time you turn on your TV, the EZ SETUP 
    wizard opens. The wizard guides you through 
    setting up basic settings including the menu 
    language, time setting, picture mode, TV signal 
    source, and channel list.
    To set up your TV:
    1Make sure that you have:
    • Installed the remote control batteries. (See 
    page 35 for details.)
    • Connected an antenna, cable TV, or satellite 
    TV. (See page 12 through 17 for details.)
    • Connected the power cord. (See page 34 for 
    details.)
    2Press   (power) to turn on your TV. The Please 
    select your language screen opens.
    3Press 
    S or T to highlight the language you 
    want, then press ENTER. The time setting screen 
    opens.
    4Press 
    S or T to highlight Mode, then press X to 
    access the setting. 
    5Press 
    S or T to select Manual (to set the date 
    and time manually) or Auto (to set the date and 
    time automatically from a TV signal source 
    based on the time zone you select), then press 
    ENTER, MENU, or 
    W.6Press 
    S or T to highlight Time Zone, then press 
    X to access the setting. 
    7Press 
    S or T to select your time zone. You can 
    select Eastern, Central, Mountain, Pacific, 
    Alaska, Hawaii, Atlantic, or Newfoundland, 
    then press ENTER, MENU, or 
    W.
    8Press 
    S or T to highlight Daylight Saving, then 
    press X to access the setting. 
    9Press 
    S or T to select On (if your viewing area 
    observes Daylight Saving Time) or Off (if your 
    viewing area does not observe Daylight Saving 
    Time), then press ENTER, MENU, or 
    W.
    10If you selected Manual for Mode:
    • Press 
    S or T to highlight Year, Month, or Day, 
    then press 
    X to access the setting. Press S or T to adjust the setting, then press ENTER.
    • Press 
    S or T to highlight Time, then press X to 
    access the setting. Press W or X to highlight 
    the hour, minute, or AM/PM field, then press 
    S 
    or T to adjust the setting. When you are 
    finished, press ENTER.
    11When you have finished setting the time, press 
    ENTER. The What is your viewing environment 
    screen opens.
    12Press 
    S or T to highlight Home or Store, then 
    press ENTER.
    If you selected Store mode, a message asks if 
    you are sure you want this mode. Select Ye s to 
    continue using Store mode or select No to 
    change your selection, then press ENTER. Store 
    mode is not an energy savings mode and 
    displays a retail banner.
    The Please select your tuner mode screen opens.
    Note
    If you select Auto, the displayed time will 
    be incorrect until your TV gets the correct 
    time from a TV signal source.
