For the best video quality, you should connect a device to the best available connection. Use the following tables to identify cables: You can use the HDMI 1/ARC/DVI jack on your TV to connect a DVI device to your TV. You need to attach an HDMI-to-DVI adapter to the end of the HDMI cable that connects to the DVI device. To get the best video, you should use the best connection type available. For more information, see “What connection should I use?” on page11. Using HDMI (best) To connect a cable or satellite box using HDMI: 1Make sure that your TV’s power cord is unplugged and all connected equipment is turned off. 2Connect the incoming cable from the cable wall jack to the cable-in jack on the cable or satellite box. 3Connect an HDMI cable (not provided) to one of the HDMI jacks on the side of your TV and to the HDMI OUT jack on the cable or satellite box. 4Plug your TV’s power cord into a power outlet, turn on your TV, then turn on the cable or satellite box. 5Press INPUT to open the INPUT SOURCE list. 6Press S or T to highlight HDMI 1 or HDMI 2, then press ENTER. 13 Sharp 32" LED TV www.sharpusa.com Using DVI (same as HDMI but requires an audio connection) To connect a cable or satellite box using DVI: 1Make sure that your TV’s power cord is unplugged and all connected equipment is turned off. 2Connect the incoming cable from the cable wall jack to the cable-in jack on the cable or satellite box. 3Connect an HDMI-DVI adapter (not provided) to one end of an HDMI cable (not provided), then connect the adapter to the DVI OUT jack on the cable or satellite box. 4Connect the other end of the cable to the HDMI 1/ARC/DVI jack on the side of your TV. 5Connect a 3.5mm audio cable (not provided) to the PC/DVI AUDIO IN jack on the back of your TV and to the AUDIO OUT jacks on the cable or satellite box. 6Plug your TV’s power cord into a power outlet, turn on your TV, then turn on the cable or satellite box. 7Press INPUT to open the INPUT SOURCE list. 8Press S or T to select HDMI 1, then press ENTER. Note You must use the HDMI 1/ARC/DVI jack to connect a cable or satellite box using DVI. If you use another HDMI jack, you will not hear sound from the TV speakers. Note When you connect the audio using the PC/DVI AUDIO IN jack, the audio output is analog. Notes • Cables are often color-coded to match color-coded jacks. • The yellow video connector on the AV cable connects to the green COMPONENT/AV Y/VIDEO jack. See “Automatically scanning for channels” on page45. Notes • Use a coaxial cable to eliminate interference and noise from radio waves. • Do not bundle the coaxial cable with the power cord or other cables.
