TabletBasics13 Adding and Removing Primary Shortcuts You can change any of your primary shortcuts with the exception of the Apps shortcut. The primary shortcuts are the bottom row of app shortcuts that remain static on all home screens (by default Contacts, Internet, and Appsyf. Note: Before replacing a primary shortcut, you must first add the replacement shortcut to the Home Screen. For more information, see Creating Shortcuts. 1. Press to display the Home screen. 2. Touch and hold the primary shortcut you want to replace and then drag it to an empty space on any Home screen. 3. Touch and hold a new shortcut on the Home screen, and then drag it to the empty space in the row of primary shortcuts. You can add up to 5 primary shortcuts in addition to the Apps shortcut. Adding and Removing Widgets Widgets are self-contained applications that reside either in your Widgets tab or on the main or extended Home screens. Unlike a shortcut, the Widget appears as an on-screen application. Widgets can include Contacts shortcuts, bookmarks, music playlists, Gmail and email accounts, and many other types of apps. Adding a Widget 1. Press to display the Home screen. 2. Touch and hold an empty area of the Home screen, and then choose Apps and widgets > Widgets. 3. Touch and hold a widget, and then drag it to a Home screen. Release the widget to lock it on the screen. Removing a Widget 1. Press to display the Home screen. 2. Touch and hold the desired widget, and then drag it to the Remove icon. Note: This action does not delete the widget—it simply removes it from the current screen. Extended Home Screens In addition to the main Home screen, your tablet can have up to six extended Home screens to provide more space for adding icons, widgets, and more. Touch and hold the icon or widget and then
TabletBasics14 drag across the screen to move from the main screen to an extended screen. There can be up to six extended screens in addition to the main Home screen. Note: You cannot add more screens, unless you have previously deleted any of the existing screens. The maximum number of home screens is seven. To go directly to a particular screen: 1. From any home screen, pinch the screen to display thumbnail images of all screens. 2. Touch the screen you want to open. Recent Apps You can access recently used applications through a display of shortcuts to the applications themselves. 1. Press and hold from any screen to display Recent apps. 2. Touch an image to open the application. Wallpapers You can choose a picture to display on the Home Screen, Lock screen, or on both the Home and Lock screens. Choose from preloaded wallpaper images or select a photo you have downloaded or taken with the Camera. 1. From any Home screen, touch and hold on an empty area of the screen. The Home screen menu displays. Touch Set wallpaper. – or – Press , and then touch > Settings > Display > Wallpaper. 2. Touch Home screen, Lock screen, or Home and lock screens. 3. Choose a source for wallpaper: l Gallery: Choose a picture from Gallery. Follow the prompts to crop the picture and save it as wallpaper. l Live wallpapers: Choose a moving scene for the background (Home screen onlyyf. l ID wallpapers: Select a wallpaper from the currently assigned ID pack (Home screen onlyyf. l Travel wallpaper: Display recommended destinations on your Lock screen (Lock screen onlyyf. l Wallpapers: Choose an image from the Wallpapers gallery.

It also has Quick settings—buttons which allow you to quickly access and change common system settings. n Settings: Access System settings. TabletBasics18 Multi Window Multi Window allows you to use two apps on the same screen, in separate, resizable windows. Note: Only applications found within the Apps tray can be active atop another current application on the screen. When launching applications that contain multimedia files (music or videoyf, audio from both files will be played simultaneously. Enable Multi Window Enable Multi window in the Display settings. 1. Press Home, and then touch Menu > Settings > Display. 2. Tap the check box beside Multi window to enable or disable the option. Display Multi Window After you enable Multi window in Display settings, you can control whether Multi window displays on the screen, for easy access to its features. When Multi Window is enabled, it displays on the right side of the screen by default. n Touch and hold the Back Key.
TabletBasics19 Using Multi Window After enabling Multi Window, you can use it to run two apps at the same time. You can launch apps from Multi window, or drag an app to the screen to run multiple apps at the same time. The apps display together on a split screen. You can switch between the apps, adjust the size of their display on the screen. You can also use these Multi Window options: n Launch Multiple Apps: When you drag an app from Multi window on top of an open app, both apps display in a split window. l While using one app, touch the tab to display Multi Window, and then touch and drag an app to the screen. n Adjust the Size of Apps in Multi Window: While using Multi Window, you can adjust the size of the two apps on the screen. l Touch and drag to a new position. n Drag content from one app to the other: In selected apps, you can you can drag text or images between apps. l Tap > to select content and drag it to the other app. n Switch Multi Window App Positions: While using Multi Window, you can switch the position of the app windows on the screen. l Tap > . n Make a Multi Window App full-screen: Expand one of the apps to display in the full screen. l Tap one of the apps, and then tap > to make the app display full-screen. n Close an app: Close one app, and make the other full-screen. l Tap > . Customize the Multi Window Apps The apps on the Apps tray can be organized by either being rearranged or removed. 1. Activate Multi window. 2. Touch and hold the Back Key to display the Multi window Apps tray.

In the Apps tray, you can use these options: l To change the order of apps in the tray, touch and hold an app until it detaches, and then drag it to a new location in the Apps tray. l Touch Edit to display a storage tray, and then use these options: o To remove an app, touch and hold an app icon until it detaches, and then carefully drag it off the Apps tray and onto the storage area. o To restore an app, touch and hold an app icon until it detaches from the storage tray, and then drag it onto the Apps tray. Features Discover new features for controlling and interacting with your tablet. Assistant Menu Move quickly to frequently-visited places and actions using Assistant Menu. It is designed to assist users with reduced dexterity, as well as users who want to navigate the tablet using one hand. n Assistant Menu always ‘stays on top’ of the Home screen or app. n To reposition the Assistant Menu, touch and drag to another location on screen. Enable Assistant Menu 1. Press Home, and then touch Menu > Settings > Accessibility. 2. Touch the ON/OFF switch to turn Assistant Menu on. 3. Touch Assistant Menu to set options. Using Assistant Menu 1. Touch Assistant Menu to display the menu buttons: l Menu: Open the context-menu. l Open notifications: Open the Notification Panel. l Home: Return to the Home screen. l Back: Return to the previous screen or undo the last action. l Set volume: Set the system volume.
TabletBasics21 l Lock screen: Lock the tablet. l Restart: Restart the tablet. l Power off: Turn the tablet off. l Open device options: Open the Device options pop-up menu. l Capture screen: Take a snapshot of the current screen. l Zoom: Zoom in or out on the current screen (not all apps support this featureyf. l Settings: Configure settings for Assistant Menu. 2. Touch > Settings for options: l Touch Dominant hand to optimize the Assistant Menu buttons for use on the left or right side of the screen. l Touch Edit to rearrange or remove icons from Assistant Menu: o Touch and drag icons to rearrange them. o Touch to remove an icon from Assistant Menu. o Touch to add an icon back to Assistant Menu. o Touch > Reset to revert back to the default settings. Screen Capture Capture an image of the current screen at anytime time. n Touch and hold the Power/Lock Key and the Home Key simultaneously to create an image of the current screen. A white border flashes briefly around the edge of the screen indicating a screen capture. l The screen capture is automatically saved to the Gallery in an Album labeled Screenshots. l A copy of the screen capture is also saved to the clipboard. Smart Screen Smart screen features allow you to have your tablet automatically detect when you are looking at the screen.
TabletBasics22 n Smart stay: The screen will not time out as long as you are looking at it. Smart screen uses the front camera to detect when you are facing the screen. Some factors that may affect the ability of the front camera to detect your face are: l When the tablet is not docked or held upright, for example when placed on a table. l When the front camera cannot detect your face and eyes. l When the front camera is being used for the current application. l When the source of light is behind you, or when using the tablet in the dark. Configure Smart Stay Enable Smart stay, and learn about using them. n Press and tap > Settings > Display > Smart screen. l Touch Smart stay to set the screen to stay on as long as you are looking at it. l Touch > Help for more information. Voice Control Use spoken commands to control and interact with your tablet, like the below. n Alarm: When enabled, you can stop or snooze alarms with the voice commands “Stop” and “Snooze”. n Camera: When enabled, you can take pictures with the voice commands “Smile”, “Cheese”, “Capture” and “Shoot”. n Music: When enabled, you can control the music player with the voice commands “Next”, “Previous”, “Pause”, “Play”, “Volume Up”, and “Volume Down”.
