COMMAND- LINEDEFINITIONDESCRIPTION /s or /S Starts silent installation. Installs machine drivers without prompting any UIs or user intervention. /p”” or /P””Specifies printer port. Network Port will be created by use of Standard TCP/IP Port moni - tor. For local port, this port must exist on system be fore being spec - ified by command. Printer port name can be spe c ified as IP address, hostname, USB local port name, IEEE1284 port name or network path. For example: • /p”x xx.xxx.xxx.xxx” in w here, “xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx” means IP address for network printer. /p”USB001”, /P”LPT1:”, /p”host - name” • /p\\comput e r_name\sha red_printer or \\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx\sha red_printer in where, \\computer_name\sh ared_printer or \\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx\sha red_printer means the network path to the printer by enter - ing two slashes, the computer name or local IP address of the PC sharing the printer, and then the share name of the printer. /a”” or /A”” Specifies destination path for installa tion. The destination path should be a fully qualified path. Since machine drivers should be installed on the OS specific location, this command applies to only application software. /n”” or /N”” Speci fies printer name. Printer in sta nce shall be created as specified printer name. With this pa rameter, you can add printer instances as your wishes. /nd or /ND Commands not to set the installed drive r as a default machine driver. It indicates installed machi ne drive r will not be the default machine driver on your system if there are one or more printer drivers installed. If there is no installed machine driver on your system, then this option won’t be applied because Windows OS will set installed printer driver as a default machine driver. /x or /X Uses existing machine driver files to cre ate printer instance if it is already installed. This command provides a way to install a printer instance that uses installed printer driver files without installing an additional driver. /up”” or /UP” ” Removes onl y specified printer instan ce and not the driver files. This command provides a way to re move only spec - ified printer instance from your system without effecting other printer drivers. It will not remove printer driver files from your system. /d or /D Uninstalls all device drivers and a pplications from your system. Network setup_ 36 3.network setup This chapter gives you step-by-step instructions for setting up the network connected machine and software. This chapter includes: •Network environment • Introducing useful network programs • Using a wired network • Installing network connected machine’s driver • IPv6 Configuration Supported optional devices and features may differ according to your model. Please check your model name (See Features by Models on page 25). NETWORK ENVIRONMENT You need to set up the network protocols on the machine to use it as your network machine. You can set up the basic network settings through the machines control panel. The following table shows the networ k environmen ts supported by the machine: ITEMSPECIFICATIONS Network interface •Ethernet 10/100/1000 Base-TX • 802.11 b/g/n Wireless LAN (Optional) N etwork operating system •Windows 2000 /XP/2003/2008/Vista/7/2008 Server R2 • Variou s Linux OS • Mac OS X 10.3 ~ 10.8 • UNIX • Novell NetWare 5.x, 6.x (TCP/IP Only) Ne twork protocols •TCP/IPv4 • 802.1x • DHCP, BOOTP, AutoIP • DNS, WINS, Bo njo ur, SLP, UPnP • Stan dard TCP/IP Printing (RAW), LPR, IPP, WSD • SNMPv 1/2/3, HTT P (S), Telnet, SMTP (S), LDAP (S), IPSec • SMB, FTP, Kerberos • TCP/IPv6 (DHC P, DNS, RAW, LPR, SNMPv 1/2/3, HTTP (S), IPSec) (See IPv6 Configuration on page 40.) Wireless security (Op t ional) • Authentication: Open System, Shared Key, WPA Personal, WPA2 Personal (PSK) • Encryp tion: WEP64, WEP128, TKIP, AE S INTRODUCING USEFUL NETWORK PROGRAMS There are several programs available to setup the network settings easily in network environment. For the network administrator especially, managing several machines on the network is possible. Before using the programs below, set the IP address first. SyncThru™ Web Service Web server embedded on your network machine, which allows you to: •Configure the network parameters necessary for the machine to connect to vario us network environments. • Customize m achine settings. (See Using SyncThru™ Web Service on page 68 .) SyncThru™ Web Admin Service A web-based machine management solution for network administrators. SyncThru™ Web Admin Service provides you with an efficient way of man - aging network devices and lets you remotely monitor and troubleshoot net - work machines from any site with corporate internet access. Download this program from http://solution.samsungprinter.com. SetIP This utility program allows you to se lect a network interface and manually configure the IP addresses for us e with the TCP/IP protocol (See IPv4 set- ting using SetIP Program (Windows) on page 37 , IPv4 setting using SetIP Program (Mac) on page 37 or IPv4 setting using SetIP Program (Linux) on page 38 ). TCP/IPv6 is not supported by this program. USING A WIRED NETWORK You must set up the network protocol s on your machine to use it on your network. This chapter will show you how this is easily accomplished. You can use network after connecting network cable to a corresponding po rt on your machine. Printing configuration report You can print a Configuration Report from the machine’s control panel that will show the current machine’s network se ttings. This will help you to set up a network and troubleshoot problems. Downloaded From ManualsPrinter.com Manuals

Network setup_ 37 1.Press Menu on the control panel. 2. Press the up/down arrow to highlight Information and press OK. 3. Press the up/down arrow to highlight Con figuration and press OK . The machine prints the Config uration Report. Using this Conf iguration Report , you can find your machine MAC address and IP address. For example: • MAC Address: 00:15:99:41:A2:78 • IP Addre s s: 192.0.0.192 Setting IPv4 address You must set up an IPv4 address for network printing and management. In most cases a new IP address will be automatically assigned by a DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protoc ol) server located on the network. If you use IPv6 address, refer to IPv6 Configuration on page 40 In a few situations the IP address must be set manually. This is called a static IP and is often required in co rporate Intranets for security reasons. • DHCP IP a ssignment : Co nnect your machine to the network, and wait a few minutes for the DHCP server to assign an IP address to the machine. Then, print the Configuration Report as explained above. If the report shows that the IP addr ess has changed, the assignment was successful. You will see the new IP address in the report. • Static IP assignment : Use th e SetIP program to change the IP address from your computer. If your machine has a control panel, you can also change the IP address using the machines control panel. In an office environment, we recommend that you contact a network admin - istrator to set this address for you. IPv4 setting using control panel 1. Connect your machine to the network with a network cable. 2. Turn on the machine. 3. Press Menu on the control panel. 4. Press the u p/down arrow to highlight Network and press OK. 5.
