MAINTAINING YOUR PRINTER4.7 3Pull the toner cartridge out and remove it from the printer.. 4Remove the manual tray by pulling it out. 5With a dry, lint-free cloth, wipe away any dust and spilled toner from the toner cartridge area and the toner cartridge cavity. MAINTAINING YOUR PRINTER4.8 4 6Locate the long strip of glass (LSU) inside the top of the cartridge compartment, and gently swab the glass to see if dirt turns the white cotton black. 7Reinsert the manual tray, toner cartridge and close the cover. Make sure that the cover is securely closed. If it is not firmly closed, printing errors may occur when you print. 8Plug in the power cord, and turn the printer on. Some of causes include: • The tray is overfilled. • The front cover has been opened during a print job. • Paper that does not meet paper specifications has been used. SOLVING PROBLEMS5.7 5 2 Open the top cover and the inner cover. Cautions: • When removing the jammed paper, be careful not to touch the heat roller (located underneath the inner cover). It is hot and could cause burns! • The top and inner cover themselves may also be hot due to the heat roller.
