36 Section 4: Menu Navigation This section explains the menu navigation for your phone. An outline of the available menus of your phone is included. Menu Navigation Access menus using the Directional key, soft keys , or use a shortcut. The Intensity comes with the My Place display theme as the default display theme. You may change the display theme to the White or Fresh Water. For more information about choosing display themes, see “Display Themes” on page 90. The display themes may be customized to show the Main Menu layout in different formats. For more information about choosing main menu layouts, see “Main Menu Settings” on page 90. To access menus using the Ta b main menu layout, use the following steps: 1.From the home screen, press MENU. 2.Press the Directional key left or right to highlight a menu. 3.When the desired menu is highlighted, press the Directional key up or down to highlight a sub-menu and press . To access menus using the List or Grid main menu layouts, use the following steps: 1.From the home screen, press MENU. 2.Press the Directional key up or down to highlight the desired menu and press . 3.Press the Directional key up or down to highlight the desired sub-menu and press . Return to the Previous Menu Press to return to the previous menu. Menu Number Accelerators You can also access menus and sub-menus faster and with fewer key presses using menu number accelerators. To access a menu or sub-menu quickly, press MENU, then enter the menu and/or sub-menu number(s) for the feature desired. See the following examples for standard menu navigation and number accelerators using the default My Place display theme, Grid main menu layout. Entering Text 43 Section 5: Entering Text This section outlines how to select the desired text input mode when entering characters into your phone. This section also describes how to use Word text entry system to reduce the amount of key strokes associated with entering text. Entering Text in Landscape Mode Press to cycle between upper case (ABC), lower case (abc), or initial caps (Abc) for characters in ABC mode. Press to enter a space between words or characters. Press to move the insertion point to the next line in a message. Press to delete characters behind the blinking cursor. Entering Text in Portrait Mode Changing the Text Mode While composing a message, press the Text Entry Mode key to quickly cycle to the desired entry mode: T9 Word Palabra Abc ABC 123 Symbols Smileys Quick Text Note: If your cursor is in the message To field, the options are: T9 Word, Palabra, Abc, ABC, 123, Symbols, and Domain Extensions. Entering Text using T9 Word T9 Word mode recognizes the most commonly used word for any sequence of key presses and inserts that word into your message. Entering Test using Palabra Palabra mode recognizes the most commonly used Spanish word for any sequence of key presses and inserts that word into your message. Entering Upper and Lower Case Use ABC or abc mode to enter upper and lower case letters into a text message. 1.While composing your message in the Te x t field, press left soft key to select text entry mode. Abc is the default text entry mode. 2.To enter text with all capital case letters, press . 3.To enter an individual capital letter, press and then press the desired letter. Note: Use the Space key to add spaces between words. Entering Numbers Use 123 mode to enter numbers into a text message. 1.In the Te x t field, press left soft key to select text entry mode 123. 2.Enter the key that corresponds with the number that you wish to enter. For example, press for the number 4. 3.When you are finished adding numbers, press left soft key to select a different method of text entry. Entering Symbols Use symbol mode to enter symbols @ or % into a text message. In portrait mode: 1.In the Te x t field, press left soft key to select text entry mode Symbols. The first of three screens containing symbols appears in the display. 2.Press left soft key Prev or right soft key Next to page through the other symbols, if necessary. 3.Enter the key that corresponds with the symbol that you wish to enter. For example, press for an exclamation point ( !) on the second page of symbols.
