    							Changing the order of TV channels
    and deleting TV channels
    1Switch your TV set on. If necessar y set the TV to the
    correct audio/video channel for the DVD recorder system.
    Such channels may be called AUX or AUXILIARY IN,
    AUDIO/VIDEO or A/V IN, EXT1, EXT2 or EXTERNAL IN,
    etc. These channels are often near channel 00.
    2Press SYSTEM MENU.
    3Press 1repeatedly to select A.
    4Press 4repeatedly to select yInstallation, then press 2.
    5Press 4repeatedly to select either
    ➜Follow TVto make the order of TV channels on the
    DVD recorder system equal to the order on your TV or
    ➜Sort TV  channelsto move a TV channel to another
    programme number or to delete a TV channel.
    Note: If your TV supports EasyLink, please change the order of
    the TV channels on your TV. Then select Autom. Searchto
    transfer the changes to the DVD recorder system automatically.
    Some of the menu options below will not be available with
    EasyLink.
    6Press 2to enter the selected menu.Follow TV
    1Press OK to star t Follow TV.
    ➜TV 01is displayed on the DVD recorder system.
    2Select the same programme number on the TV, then 
    press OK.
    ➜WAITis displayed on the DVD recorder system.
    The DVD recorder system searches for this TV channel
    in its memor y and stores it under the same programme
    number.
    Then,TV XXis displayed on the DVD recorder system,
    where XXis the number of next TV programme.
    Notes:
    If a TV channel cannot be found on the DVD recorder system,
    the corresponding programme number will not be used on the
    DVD recorder system.
    IfNOTVis displayed, make sure that the SCART cable is
    connected properly to the TV and the DVD recorder system.
    If necessar y, connect the DVD recorder system to another
    SCART socket on the TV because the SCART socket in use
    might not support Follow TV. If the problem still persists,
    Follow TV is not available.
    3Repeat step 2 for all programme numbers of the TV.
    4Press SYSTEM MENU to exit.
    Sort TV  channels
    1Press 3or 4repeatedly to select a TV channel, then 
    press 2.
    2If you want to move the TV channel to another
    programme number:
    Press 3or 4repeatedly to move the TV channel to the
    desired programme number, then press 1.
    If you want to delete the TV channel:
    Press CLEAR, then press 1.
    Note: When deleting a TV channel or when changing its
    programme number, other TV channels may change their
    programme number too.
    0 0To change the programme number of another TV channel
    or to delete another TV channel, repeat steps 1–2.
    3Press OK to store the settings or SYSTEM MENU to exit
    without storing.
    4Press SYSTEM MENU to exit the system menu.

    TV system
    If the TV system of the TV channel and that of your TV 
    are not the same, the sound and/or the picture may be
    distor ted or missing. Usually the TV system is detected
    automatically.
    1Press 2repeatedly to select the TV system (PAL-BG,
    PAL-I,PAL-DK,SECAM,SEC-BG,SEC-DK) which
    produces the clearest sound and picture on your TV.
    Note: If you change TV system to a setting not supported by
    your TV set, the picture and/or sound may be missing.
    2Press OK to store the setting.
    3Press SYSTEM MENU to exit.
    NICAM
    1Press 2repeatedly to switch NICAM on or off:
    ➜On: Stereo and 2-channel sound is suppor ted.
    ➜Off: To improve the sound quality of a weak TV channel,
    only mono sound is suppor ted.
    2Press OK to store the setting.
    3Press SYSTEM MENU to exit.
    Fine tuning
    1If the reception of the TV channel is distor ted, press 3or4
    repeatedly to change the tuning of the TV channel slightly.
    2Press OK to store the setting.
    3Press SYSTEM MENU to exit.

    							Setting the time and date

    time and date are correct.
    9Press OK to store the settings or SYSTEM MENU to exit
    without saving the changes.
    10Press SYSTEM MENU repeatedly to exit.
    Using a connected decoder to
    decode a TV channel
    Some TV channels are encoded and can be watched
    without distor tions only with a decoder. If you have
    connected a decoder, please set which TV channel should
    be decoded with the decoder.
    If your TV suppor ts EasyLink, please perform these settings
    on the TV. No settings can be performed on the
    DVD recorder system in this case.
    1Switch your TV set on. If necessar y set the TV to the
    correct audio/video channel for the DVD recorder system.
    Such channels may be called AUX or AUXILIARY IN,
    AUDIO/VIDEO or A/V IN, EXT1, EXT2 or EXTERNAL IN,
    etc. These channels are often near channel 00.
    2Press DVD/MON.
    3Press CH+ or CH– or 0–9 repeatedly to select the
    TV channel which you want to decode with the decoder.
    4Press SYSTEM MENU.
    5Press 1repeatedly to select A.
    6Press 4repeatedly to select yInstallation, then press 2.
    7Press 4repeatedly to select Manual search, then press 2.
    8Press 4repeatedly to select Decoder.
    9Press 2repeatedly to select On.
    ➜DECODERwill appear on the display of the
    DVD recorder system whenever this TV channel is
    selected.
    0 0To switch the decoder off for the selected TV channel,
    press 2to select Off.
    10Press OK to confirm.
    11Press SYSTEM MENU repeatedly to exit.

    							Selecting a source
    1Turn SOURCE on the DVD recorder system or keep a
    source key on the remote control pressed for 1 second to
    select either :
    –DISC: the disc in the DVD recorder system
    –MONITOR: the internal TV tuner of the DVD
    recorder system (only selectable by pressing
    DVD/MON on the remote control)
    –TV: the TV
    –CAM1: a camcorder connected to CAM1
    –CAM2: a camcorder connected to CAM2
    –SAT: a connected satellite receiver
    –VCR: a connected VCR (video recorder)
    –GAME: a connected game console
    – the radio tuner of the DVD recorder system
    –TAPE: a connected tape deck or similar audio
    recording appliance
    –CDR: a connected CD recorder
    –CD: a connected CD player/changer
    ➜The sound of the source is played on the DVD recorder
    system.
    To select CAM 2 (TAPE or GAME) with the remote
    control, first select CAM 1 (CDR or VCR). Then keep the
    corresponding source key pressed for 1 second.
    2If the selected video source does not show on your TV:
    – switch off any other video appliances connected to
    EXT 2 AUX I/O and
    – set your TV to the correct audio/video channel.
    Such channels may be called AUX, AUXILIARY IN,
    AUDIO/VIDEO or A/V IN, EXT1, EXT2 or
    EXTERNAL IN, etc. These channels are often 
    near channel 00.
    0 0If you selected an S-video recorder connected to
    EXT 2 AUX I/O on the DVD recorder system, set the
    DVD recorder system to S-Video(see “User  preferences”,
    tPicture,SCART video). Do not forget to switch 
    the DVD recorder system back to RGBwhen selecting
    another source.
    Notes:
    Please select the TV channels of a satellite receiver directly
    on the satellite receiver.
    You can select only sources which are installed on the
    DVD recorder system. If you connected an appliance or if you
    changed its connection after the initial installation, you need to
    install the appliance on the DVD recorder system. See “When
    adding appliances or changing the connections of appliances”.
    Selecting another source while recording
    While recording from a source, you can select another
    source on the DVD recorder system. Please be aware that
    not all sources will be available.
    Switching between recorded and original video
    and sound quality
    While recording from an appliance connected to
    EXT 2 AUX I/O, you can choose between viewing the
    original and the recorded video and sound quality.
    Select the source which you are currently recording to
    switch to the original video and sound quality.
    0 0To switch to the recorded video and sound quality, press
    DVD/MON.
    Please keep in mind that 
    – no messages from the DVD recorder system are
    available on the TV screen while viewing the original
    video quality,
    – the recorded sound is stereo only,
    – there is a delay between the original and the recorded
    video/sound.

    							Adjusting the volume of all
    speakers
    Press VOL+or VOL−
    or turn VOLUME on the DVD
    recorder system to adjust the volume.
    ➜VOLUMEand the actual volume level are displayed.

    0To switch off the sound of the DVD recorder system,
    press MUTE H.

    0To switch the sound on again, press MUTE Hagain.
    Adjusting the volume of the rear
    speakers and the subwoofer
    1Press REAR or SUBWOOFER.
    ➜REARor SUBWOOFERand the actual level are displayed.
    2Press VOL+or VOL−
    or turn VOLUME on the DVD
    recorder system to adjust the volume of the rear speakers
    or the subwoofer.
    Adjusting bass and treble
    1Briefly press BASS or TREBLE.
    ➜BASSor TREBLEand the actual level are displayed.
    2Press VOL+or VOL−
    or turn VOLUME on the DVD
    recorder system to adjust the bass or treble.
    Note: If VOLUMEis not turned within 5 seconds, or if any
    other key is pressed, adjustment of rear and subwoofer volume
    and that of bass and treble is switched off.
    Loudness
    Loudness enhances bass and treble at low volume.
    Press LOUDNESS repeatedly to switch loudness either on
    or off.
    ➜LOUDNESS ONor OFFis displayed on the DVD
    recorder system.
    Setting the volume balance
    between the speakers
    If a speaker appears too loud or too quiet in comparison to
    the rest of the speakers, you can adjust the volume balance
    between the speakers.
    1Press AUDIO MENU to enter the audio menu.
    2Press 4repeatedly to select BALANCE, then press 2.
    3Press 2to enter TEST TONE.
    4Press 4repeatedly to select ON, then press OK.
    ➜The test tone is played on each speaker for a shor t time.
    Note: The test tone is not available for adjusting the subwoofer
    volume.
    5Press 4repeatedly to select the speaker which appears too
    quiet or too loud:
    ➜FRONT-L: the left front speaker,
    ➜FRONT-R: the right front speaker,
    ➜CENTER: the centre speaker,
    ➜REAR-L: the left rear speaker,
    ➜REAR-R: the right rear speaker,
    ➜SUBWOOFER: the subwoofer.
    6Then, press 2.
    7Press 3or 4repeatedly to adjust the volume of the
    selected speaker (values between -6and +6).
    8Press OK to store the setting or 1to exit without storing.
    0
    0To adjust the volume of another speaker, repeat steps 5–8.
    9Press AUDIO MENU to exit.

    							The DVD recorder system automatically detects if a
    surround sound is available and displays the type of signal:
    ➜DD: Dolby Digital,
    ➜DTS: DTS Digital Surround,
    ➜DPL: Dolby Pro Logic,
    ➜MPEG: MPEG multichannel.
    Please keep in mind that not all DVD discs provide
    multichannel surround sound. Some DVDs contain stereo
    sound only.
    If a connected appliance offers digital surround sound
    (Dolby Digital, DTS or MPEG) you need to connect the
    digital output of the appliance to the DVD recorder system
    to appreciate the digital surround sound (see “Connecting
    additional video appliances” or “Connecting additional audio
    appliances”).
    Please keep in mind that recording from a digital input
    (DIGITAL IN and OPTICAL IN) is not possible. Therefore,
    recording of digital surround sound is not possible.
    Recording is possible only from the inputs EXT 1, EXT 2,
    CAM 1 and CAM 2 and is in stereo.
    Selecting a surround effect
    The available surround effects depend on the signal (stereo
    or surround signal) and the number of connected speakers.
    Press SURR. repeatedly to select either :
    ➜SURROUND: For Dolby Digital, DTS Digital Surround,
    Dolby Pro Logic or MPEG multichannel signals.
    ➜STEREO: For standard stereo reproduction. All surround
    effects are switched off. Sound is reproduced through 
    the front left and right speakers and the subwoofers.
    ➜FRONT/3 STEREO: The front speakers (left, centre, right
    and subwoofers) are in use only, the surround signal for
    the rear speakers is muted.
    ➜3D SURROUND: 3D-Surround simulates surround sound
    effects with the front speakers only.
    ➜HALL: A slight hall effect is added and reproduced
    through the rear speakers.
    ➜NATURAL SURROUND: Natural Surround widens 
    the sound picture of the front and the rear speakers.
    The sound appears more spacious.
    Note: For surround signals, additional information about the
    signal is scrolled on the display of the DVD recorder system.
    For example:
    –3/2/1: Dolby Digital signal with 3 front, 2 surround (rear)
    and 1 subwoofer channels.
    –MPEG 2/0/0: MPEG multichannel signal with 2 channels
    (stereo) only.

    							Adjusting 3D Surround and
    Natural Surround
    1Press AUDIO MENU to enter the audio menu.
    ➜EFFECTSis displayed on the DVD recorder system.
    2Press 2.
    3Press 4repeatedly to select either 3D SURRor
    NATURAL, then press 2.
    4Press 3or 4repeatedly to set the surround effect of
    3D SURRor NATURALbetween 0(no effect) and
    100(maximum effect).
    5Press OK to store the setting or 1to exit without storing.
    6Press AUDIO MENU to exit the audio menu.
    Clear Voice
    Clear Voice enhances the voices in surround sound signals
    to make dialogues easier to follow. Clear Voice is available
    for surround sounds only.
    Press VOICE briefly to switch Clear Voice on or off.
    ➜CLR VOICE ONor OFFis displayed on the 
    DVD recorder system.
    Night mode
    Night mode reduces the volume differences between loud
    and quiet passages. At night, you can enjoy surround effects
    at low volume without disturbing your children or
    neighbours. Night mode is available only for Dolby Digital
    and MPEG multichannel signals and only if suppor ted by
    the source material (e. g. a movie).
    Keep NIGHT pressed for 2 seconds to switch Night mode
    on or off.
    ➜NIGHT ONor OFFis displayed on the DVD recorder
    system.
    Demo mode
    The demo mode demonstrates various features of the
    DVD recorder system and will star t automatically. If your
    DVD recorder system has a demo mode, you may wish 
    to deactivate it.
    1If necessar y, press 2to switch the DVD recorder system
    to standby.
    2Keep STOP 9pressed for at least 5 seconds to cancel the
    demo mode.
    ➜DEMO OFFis displayed. The demo mode is deactivated
    permanently. The DVD recorder system is switched to
    standby.

    							Selecting a preset radio station
    1Press TUNER to select the radio tuner.
    2Press CH + or CH–
    repeatedly to skip to a preset radio
    station or use 0–9 to enter the number of a preset radio
    station. To enter a preset number with two digits, press 0–9
    twice within 2 seconds.
    ➜f, the waveband, the station (station name or frequency)
    and the preset number are displayed. If the radio signal 
    is stereo,
    =will appear.
    Tuning to a radio station
    1Press TUNER to select the radio tuner.
    ➜f, the waveband and the station (station name or
    frequency) are displayed.
    2To change the waveband, press TUNER repeatedly.
    3Keep 4or ¢pressed for about 1 second.
    4Release 4or ¢at the frequency where to star t
    searching.
    ➜SEARCHis displayed and the DVD recorder system
    searches for a radio station with sufficient signal strength.
    0 0To stop searching, press 4or ¢again.
    5Repeat steps 3–4 until you find the desired radio station.
    0
    0To tune to a weak radio station, briefly press 4or ¢
    as often as necessar y for optimum reception.
    Storing radio stations
    You can store up to 40 preset radio stations in the memor y
    of the DVD recorder system.
    Automatic searching and storing
    The DVD recorder system searches radio stations with
    sufficient strength automatically and stores them in the
    memor y.
    1If necessar y, press TUNER to select the radio tuner.
    2Press AUDIO MENU to enter the audio menu.
    3Press 4repeatedly to select TUNER, then press 2.
    ➜AUTO INSTis displayed.
    4Press 2.
    ➜The preset number, the waveband and frequency of the
    current radio station appear.
    5Press CH + or CH–
    to select the preset number from
    which onwards the found radio stations will be stored.
    Note: Already existing radio stations with this or higher preset
    numbers will be deleted.
    0 0To change the waveband, press TUNER.
    6Then press OK.
    ➜The automatic search star ts. Radio stations with sufficient
    signal strength will be stored. If a radio station is already
    stored in a lower preset it will not be stored again.
    7Press AUDIO MENU to exit the audio menu.
    Manual searching and storing
    1Press AUDIO MENU to enter the audio menu.
    2Press 4repeatedly to select TUNER, then press 2.
    3Press 4repeatedly to select MAN INST.
    4Press 2.
    ➜The preset number, the waveband and frequency of the
    current radio station appear.
    5Tune to the desired radio station (see steps 2–5 of “Tuning
    to a radio station”).
    6Press CH + or CH–
    to change the preset number where
    to store the found radio station.
    Note: A radio station with the same preset number will be
    deleted.
    7Press OK to store the radio station.
    ➜STOREDis displayed.
    0
    0To store additional radio stations, continue with step 5.
    8Press AUDIO MENU to exit the audio menu.

    radio stations

    and Ythe current preset number.
    5Press CH + or CH–
    repeatedly or use 0–9 to set the new
    preset number, then press OK.
    ➜RESHUFFLEDis displayed briefly, the radio stations with
    the preset numbers Xand Yswap their preset numbers.
    0To change additional preset numbers continue with step 4.
    6Press AUDIO MENU to exit the menu.
    Switching between mono and
    stereo radio reception
    If you are listening to an FM radio station with a weak
    signal, you may wish to switch from stereo to mono for
    better sound quality.
    While TUNER is selected, press TUNER repeatedly to
    select FM MONO.
    ➜=disappears from the display of the DVD recorder
    system.
    0To switch back to stereo reception, press TUNER
    repeatedly to select FM STEREO.
    RDS – Radio Data System
    Some FM radio stations broadcast additional information.
    Press DISPLAY repeatedly to select the following RDS
    information, if available:
    – station name
    – frequency
    – radio text messages

    1Press OPEN/CLOSE/on the set to open the drawer.
    ➜OPENINGis displayed, the display moves up and the
    drawer is opened.
    ➜TRAY OPENis displayed.
    2Inser t a disc (printed side up) in the tray.
    Note: The labels of DVD-Video discs which are recorded on
    both sides are placed in the middle of the disc. Make sure the
    label of the side you want to play is facing up.
    3Press OPEN/CLOSE/on the set again or press
    PLAY/PAUSEÉÅon the remote control.
    ➜CLOSINGis displayed, the drawer is closed and the
    display moves down.
    ➜READINGis displayed.
    ➜Depending on the type of disc you inser ted, playback star ts
    either automatically and the title number, the chapter
    number and the actual elapsed playing time are displayed

    Playing a DVD-Video disc
    1Switch your TV set on. If necessar y set the TV to the
    correct audio/video channel for the DVD recorder system.
    Such channels may be called AUX or AUXILIARY IN,
    AUDIO/VIDEO or A/V IN, EXT1, EXT2 or EXTERNAL IN,
    etc.. These channels are often near channel 00.
    2Load a DVD-Video disc in the tray.
    3If playback does not star t automatically, press
    PLAY/PAUSEÉÅto star t playback.
    ➜Playback star ts, the title number, the chapter number and
    the actual elapsed playing time are displayed.
    Notes:
    If the child lock was activated for the inserted disc,PINwill
    be displayed (see “Activating and deactivating the child lock”).
    If a menu appears use 4,3,1or 2or press the
    appropriate numerical key on the remote control to select a
    menu option. Press OKto confirm.
    4Press STOP 9 to stop playback.
    ➜The total number of titles and the total playing time are
    displayed.
    0 0To interrupt playback press PLAY/PAUSEÉÅagain.
    ➜The current title number, the current chapter number
    and the time where playback was interrupted are
    displayed.
    0 0To resume playback press PLAY/PAUSEÉÅagain.
    Note: Some DVD discs are manufactured in such a way that
    either a specific operation is required or specific functions only
    are possible during playback. When Xappears on the TV
    screen, the selected function is not available.
    Region code information
    As DVD movies are usually not released at the same time
    in all regions of the world, all DVD players are keyed to a
    specific region code and discs can have an optional region
    code. If the region code of the loaded disc is different to
    the region code of this DVD recorder system playback will
    not be possible.
    The region code of this DVD recorder system (region
    code 2) is stated on a label on the back of the set.
    Regional coding is not applicable for recordable DVD discs.
    Disc menu
    The disc menu offers you additional information contained
    on the DVD disc.
    1Press DISC MENU on the remote control during playback.
    ➜The menu appears on the screen (on some DVD discs the
    menu may appear after a shor t introduction sequence).
    2Use 4,3,1or 2on the remote control to select the
    desired information or press the appropriate numerical key
    on the remote control.
    3Press OK on the remote control to confirm.
