    Saving a Phone Number From Call Logs
    Your PCS Phone can store up to 500 Contacts list entries, with a 
    total of up to 2,500 phone numbers. 
    To save a phone number from Call logs:
    1.Press Menu, scroll to Call logs, and press Select.
    2.Scroll to the category you wish to view (for example, 
    Outgoing calls) and press Select.
    3.Scroll to the number you wish to save and press Options.
    4.Scroll to Save and press Select.
    5.Enter the contact name you wish to assign to this number 
    and press OK.
    After you have saved the number, the new Contacts list entry 
    (Number) is displayed.
    Note: You cannot save phone numbers already in your Contacts list or from calls identified as No ID or Restricted.
    Adding a Call Logs Number to a Contact
    To add a phone number from Call logs to a pre-existing contact in 
    your Contacts list:
    1.Press Menu, scroll to Call logs, and press Select.
    2.Scroll to the category you wish to use (for example, 
    Outgoing calls) and press Select.
    3.Scroll to the number you want to add and press Options.
    4.Scroll to Add to contact and press Select.
    5.Scroll to the name you wish to append and press Add.
    6.Scroll to the category to which you wish to add the number 
    and press Select.

    Deleting Numbers in Call Logs
    To delete numbers in Call logs:
    1.Press Menu, scroll to Call logs, and press Select.
    2.Scroll to Delete call logs and press Select.
    3.Scroll to the option you prefer (All, Missed, Incoming, or 
    Outgoing) and press Select.
    Note: This action cannot be undone.

    make the most of your contacts and use your time more efficiently 
    when you are trying to connect with the important people in

    Contacts List Entry Options
    When you display a Contacts list entry, the following options 
    are displayed. Press Contacts and scroll through your options.
    Search—lets your search for an existing entry.
    Add new—lets you add a new entry. 
    Edit name—lets you edit an entry.
    Delete—lets you delete an entry.
    Add number—lets you add a number to an existing entry.
    Options—lets you adjust how you view your entries, and lets 
    you see how much memory you have available.
    1-touch dialing—lets you assign a key for 1-touch speed 
    dialing of an entry.
    Voice tags—lets you view which entries have been assigned 
    a voice tag for voice calling.
    My phone no.—lets you view your own phone number.
    Caller groups—lets you view and manage caller groups and 
    the individual group members that you have assigned.
    Entering Text
    Selecting a Character Input Mode
    Your PCS Phone provides convenient ways to enter words, 
    letters, punctuation, and numbers whenever you are prompted 
    to enter text (for example, when adding a Contacts list entry).
     to enter characters in the title-case mode.
     to enter characters in the uppercase mode.
     to enter characters in the lowercase mode.
    To change the character input mode in the Contacts list:
    1.Press Contacts, scroll to an option, and press Select.
    2.When you display a screen where you can enter text, press 
     to alternate between title-case and all uppercase.
    Note: The default text entry mode is title case  where the first letter of a new word is capitalized.

    Entering Characters by Tapping the Keypad
    To enter characters by tapping the keypad, you must be in a 
    display screen that allows for text entry. Press the 
    corresponding key until the desired character appears. By 
    default, the first letter of a word is capitalized and following 
    letters are lowercase. 
    Characters scroll in the following order:
       . , @ ‘ ? ! - 1
       A B C 2
       D E F 3
       G H I 4
        J K L 5
       M N O 6
       P Q R S 7
       T U V 8
       W X Y Z 9
       Space 0  (to create a new line)
       Shift
    After a character is entered, the cursor automatically advances 
    to the next space after two seconds or when you enter a 
    character not on the same key.
    Using Predictive Text
    Predictive Text Input (T9 Text Input) can be used to simplify 
    text input. Predictive Text Input analyzes the combination of 
    letters you enter using an intuitive word database, and creates a 
    suitable word after you have pressed the appropriate keys in 
    sequence that contain the letters you seek. 
    Predictive Text Input
    When you use Predictive Text, note that the word may change 
    as you type, so it is best not to read the screen until after you 
    have keyed in your sequence. Predictive text is designed to 
    require just one key press per letter.

    For example, to write a memo to yourself:
    1.Press Menu, scroll to Organizer, and press Select.
    2.Scroll to Calendar and press Select.
    3.Press Options, scroll to Make a note, and press Select.
    4.Scroll to Memo (or any other type of text you wish to input) 
    and press Select.
    5.Press and hold Options until T9 prediction on is momentarily 
    displayed on your screen. (This input mode remains active 
    until you turn it off, by pressing and holding Options until T9 
    prediction off is momentarily displayed.)
    6.Key in your memo. (For example, type “car” by pressing 
    . The word is not completed until the last letter 
    is pressed. If your word does not appear, press  to view 
    other words associated with this key combination.)
    7.Once a word is complete, press  to create a space, and 
    continue keying in your memo.
    8.When the memo is complete, press Options, scroll to Save, 
    and follow the prompts.
    9.Press  to return to the standby mode.
    Adding a Word to the Predictive Text Database
    If a word you want to enter does not display as an option when 
    you are using Predictive Text Input, you can add it to the database.
    To add a word to the database from the Calendar menu:
    1.Enter your text as instructed in previous section. If the word 
    you need does not appear, press 
     to scroll through 
    alternative words stored in the database.
    2.If the word you need still does not appear, press Spell.
    3.Enter your word by tapping the keypad (see Entering 
    Characters by Tapping the Keypad on page 58), press Options, 
    and press Save. (The word is added to the database and you 
    can continue entering your memo using predictive text.)

    Entering Symbols and Numbers
    To enter symbols:
    1.Press Options, scroll to Insert symbol, and press Select.
    2.Using the four-way scroll key, highlight a symbol and press Insert.
    Tip: Press and hold a number key for 2 seconds to insert that number.
    Adding a New Contacts List Entry
    Your PCS Phone Contacts list can store up to 500 Contacts list 
    entries with up to five phone numbers each.
    To add a new entry:
    1.Press Contacts, scroll to Add new, and press Select.
    2.Enter the name of the new entry and press OK.
    3.Enter the number of the new entry, press OK, and either 
    press Options to modify this entry, or press OK or Done.
    Finding a Contact
    Follow the steps outlined in the sections below to display 
    entries from the Contacts list menu.
    Finding Contacts
    To find an existing entry:
    1.Press Contacts, scroll to Search, and press Select.
    2.Enter the first letter, first letters, or the entire name of the 
    entry you seek.
     
    – or – 
    Scroll up or down to find the entry you seek.
    Shortcut: From your phone’s standby mode, press  to display your list of contacts.
    Note: Pressing a key for the first letter of the desired entry brings you to 
    that letter in the list of entries. For example, to display the Contacts list 
    entry beginning with the letter “S,” press the  key four times.

    Finding Speed Dial Numbers
    To find phone numbers you have stored in speed dial locations:
    1.Press Contacts, scroll to 1-touch dialing, and press Select.
    2.Scroll up or down to view 1-touch contacts.
    Finding Voice Dial Numbers
    To find phone numbers you have stored in Voice Dial:
    1.Press Contacts, scroll to Voice tags, and press Select
    2.Scroll up or down to view voice-tagged contacts.
    Adding a Phone Number to an Existing Contact
    To add a phone number to an entry:
    1.Press Contacts, scroll to Add number, and press Select.
    2.Scroll to the name you wish to modify and press Add.
    3.Scroll to the category to which you wish to add a number 
    and press Select. (The choices are General, Mobile, Home, 
    Work, and Fax.) 
    4.Enter the number and press OK.
    5.Press Options to view options for further modifying this 
    entry, or press OK or Done.
    Editing a Phone Number in the Contacts List
    To edit a phone number:
    1.Press the down scroll key to view your Contacts list entries, 
    scroll to the entry you wish to modify, and press Details.
    2.Scroll to the number you wish to modify and press Options.
    3.Scroll to Edit number and press Select.
    4.Press Clear to delete digits, or press and hold Clear to 
    completely delete the number.
    5.Enter the new number and press OK.

    Editing a Name in the Contacts List
    To edit the name of an entry:
    1.Press the down scroll key to view your Contacts list
    2.Scroll to the name you wish to edit and press Details.
    3.Press Options, scroll to Edit name, and press Select.
    4.Press Clear to delete letters, or press and hold Clear to 
    completely delete the name.
    5.Enter the new name and press OK.
    Deleting Contacts From Your Contacts List
    You may want to delete a particular contact, or all of your 
    contacts, from your Contacts list.
    To delete a particular contact:
    1.Press Contacts, scroll to Delete, and press Select.
    2.Scroll to One by one and press Select. (A list of your contacts 
    is displayed.)
    Note: The action below cannot be undone.
    3.Scroll to the contact you want to delete and press Delete. (A 
    message appears asking if you want to delete all details. If 
    you are sure, press OK.)
    To delete all your contacts:
    1.Press Contacts, scroll to Delete, and press Select.
    Note: The action below cannot be undone.
    2.Scroll to Delete all and press Select. (A message appears 
    asking if you are sure you wish to delete your Contacts list. 
    If you are sure, press OK.)
    3.Enter your lock code and press OK.

    Creating and Managing Caller Groups
    You can assign each contact in your Contacts list to a group. 
    The groups are Family, VIP, Friends, Business, and Other. This 
    enables you to recognize the category of caller by its ringer. 
    A group name can be changed, group members can be added or 
    removed from the group, and the group can be assigned a 
    distinctive ringer.
    To change the name of a group:
    1.Press Contacts, scroll to Caller groups, and press Select.
    2.Scroll to Friends (or other caller group) and press Select.
    3.Scroll to Rename group and press Select.
    4.Type a new name in the Group name box and press OK.
    To add a contact to a group:
    1.Press Contacts, scroll to Caller groups, and press Select.
    2.Scroll to Friends (or other caller group) and press Select.
    3.Scroll to Group members and press Select.
    4.If the group members list is (empty), press Add to add the 
    first member, scroll to select a member from the list, and 
    press Add.
     
    - or - 
    If the group already contains members, press Options, scroll 
    to Add contact, press Select, scroll to select a another 
    member from the list, and press Add.
    Deleting a contact from a caller group is done in a similar way.
    To select a group ringer:
    1.Press Contacts, scroll to Caller groups, and press Select.
    2.Scroll to Friends (or other caller group) and press Select.
    3.Scroll to Group ringing tone and press Select.
    4.Scroll to select a ringer for the group and press Select.
