31 Description Labels The description labels and the code labels are provided as standard accessories of the encoder and the decoder respectively. Attach each label on the top of the appliances as described below according to needs. Labels for Encoder Description label (1) There are descriptions about the "SW2" and the "STATUS" indicators (STATUS 1 - 8) on this label. Attach this label to the top front side of the encoder (shown in the illustration on the right), on the container box or on the rack. Description label (2) There are descriptions about the layout of the connectors on the rear panel and the indicators of the Ethernet port (100BASE-TX) on this label. Attach this label to the top rear side of the encoder (shown in the illustration on the right), on the container box or on the rack. Code label The MAC address of the appliance is described on this label. Keep this label by attaching it to the provided CD-ROM case, etc. The MAC address is also described on the label attached inside the front panel cover. Labels for Decoder Description label There are descriptions about the "SW2" and the "STATUS" indicators (STATUS 1 - 8) on this label. Attach this label to the top front side of the decoder (shown in the illustration on the right) or on the rack. Code label The MAC address of the appliance is described on this label. 32 How to Display the Settings Menus The settings for the encoder and the decoder are required to operate for the first time respectively. (The settings will be required also when the settings are initialized.) The settings for the encoder and the decoder can be performed using a web browser installed on a PC. (Refer to the "System Requirements" of on page 8 about web browsers that can be used.) To perform the settings, connect the encoder or the decoder by one of the following. •Connect the encoder or the decoder to a PC directly (Recommended) In this case, it is necessary to change the network settings of a PC used for the settings. •Connect the encoder and the decoder to a network (LAN) In this case, the network settings of the encoder and the decoder (IP addresses, the default gateway, etc.) are required to be the same as the settings of the connected network. Depending on the user's environment, it is necessary to change the network settings of the encoder and the decoder (IP addresses, subnet masks, etc.). In this case, using the "Panasonic IP Setup" software (included on the provided CD-ROM) will be useful to perform the settings. Refer to the operating instructions (pdf file) on the supplied CD-ROM about the "Panasonic IP Setup" software and the settings of the encoder and the decoder. Refer to these operating instructions for how to display the top page of the settings menus. Before Starting Settings Perform the following before starting settings. 1. Connect the encoder, the decoder and the PC in either way shown in the illustration below. 2. Turn the power switch of the encoder or the decoder to ON after the connection. 33 Setup with the Provided "Panasonic IP Setup"Software Set up the network of the encoder/decoder by using the "Panasonic IP Setup" software included on the provided CD- ROM. Note:If a firewall (including software) exists, allow access to all UDP ports. Otherwise, it is impossible to use the "Panasonic IP Setup" software. Items included in the software •IPSETUP (Panasonic IP Setup) •Operating Instructions (pdf file) 1. Double click the "IPSETUP" icon. The "Panasonic IP Setup" starts up. The MAC address and the IP address of the connected encoder/decoder will be displayed. (Click the [REFRESH] button if they are not displayed.) 2. Click the MAC address/IP address of the encoder/decoder to be set up. 3. Click the [NETWORK SETUP] button.
34 The setup window appears. SETUP 4. Set parameters for each item. "IP Address" "Subnet Mask" "Default Gateway" "DNS Server address" 5. Click the [SET] button after completing the settings. Important:It takes around 20 seconds to complete the settings of the encoder/decoder after the [SET] button is pressed. If the power cord or the Ethernet cable is detached before the settings are completed, the settings may not be performed correctly. 6. Turn off the power switch of encoder/decoder. 7. Two seconds after, turn on the power switch again. The settings will be activated.
35 Begin the setup when the PC is in the same condition as it is just after startup. The "Control Panel" window appears. 1. Select "Control Panel" ([Start] - [Settings] - [Control Panel]). 2. Click once to select the [Network] icon. Network Setup of the PC To set up the network of the PC, first change the TCP/IP settings of the PC to match the default settings of the encoder/recoder. The following are the default network settings of the encoder/recoder. •IP address of the encoder: 192.168.0.10 •IP address of the decoder: 192.168.0.11 •Subnet mask (both the encoder and the decoder): 255.255.255.0 •Default gateway (both the encoder and the decoder): 192.168.0.1 To access the camera, the IP address of the PC should be "192.168.0.XXX" (where XXX should be a number from 2 to 254 except 10 and 11). If the IP address of the encoder/recoder is set with the "Panasonic IP Setup" software, perform the network setting of the PC according to the network environment. The settings differ depending on which OS is installed on the PC. Confirm which OS is installed on your PC, and proceed with the settings corresponding to your OS. Using Windows 98 SE The following procedures are examples when using Windows 98 SE. You can proceed in the same way when using Windows Me.
36 SETUP The "Network" window appears. Note:If the "TCP/IP" item is not displayed, refer to the operating instructions of the OS and follow the procedures to install the TCP/IP. The "TCP/IP Properties" window appears. 3. Click the [Configuration] tab. 4. Click to select the TCP/IP protocol of the currently used network card. 5. Click the [Properties] button. 6. Click the [IP Address] tab. 7. Click the "Specify an IP address" radio button. 8. Enter the IP address and the subnet mask as follows. •IP Address: 192.168.0.9 •Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 9. Click the [OK] button, and the window closes. 10. Restart the PC to make the IP address valid.
37 Using Windows 2000 The following procedures are examples when using Windows 2000. You can proceed in the same way when using Windows NT. Important:Log in as one of the administrators before beginning the setup. Begin the setup when the PC is in the same condition as it is just after the startup. The "Network and Dial-up Connections" window appears. 1. Select "Network and Dial-up Connections" ([Start] - [Settings] - [Network and Dial-up Connections]). 2. Click the right mouse button on the "Local Area Connection" icon, and select "Properties" from the pop-up menu.
38 SETUP The "Local Area Connection Properties" window appears. Note:If the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" item is not displayed, refer to the operating instructions of the OS and follow the procedures to install the TCP/IP. The "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties" window appears. 3. Click to select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)", and then click the [Properties] button. 4. Click the "Use the following IP address" radio button and enter the IP address and the subnet mask as follows. •IP address: 192.168.0.9 •Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 5. Click the [OK] button, and the window closes.
39 Using Windows XP (Category View) Begin the setup when the PC is in the same condition as it is just after the startup. The "Control Panel" window appears. The "Network and Internet Connections" window appears. 1. Select "Control Panel" ([Start] - [Control Panel]). 2. Double click the "Network and Internet Connections" icon. 3. Double click the "Network Connections" icon.
40 SETUP The "Network Connections" window appears. The "Local Area Connection Properties" window appears. The "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties" window appears. 4. Click to select "Local Area Connection", and then click "Change settings of this connection" in the "Network Tasks" menu. 5. Click to select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)", and then click the [Properties] button. Note: If the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" item is not displayed, refer to the operating instructions of the OS and follow the procedures to install the TCP/IP. 6. Click the "Use the following IP address" radio button and enter the IP address and the subnet mask as follows. •IP address: 192.168.0.9 •Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 7. Click the [OK] button, and the window closes.
