    ∫To copy the data on a new disc successively after confirming the contents 
    of the copied disc by playing it back
    ≥The disc that was copied to can be played back by connecting this unit and a DVD burner.

    ≥Do not turn off this unit or the DVD burner or disconnect the Mini AB USB Connection Cable while 
    copying. Also, do not shake this unit or the DVD burner.
    ≥It is impossible to stop copying halfway.
    ≥The order in which the scenes were copied cannot be changed.
    ≥Data that has been recorded on another device may not be copied.
    ≥When 2 or more discs are necessary for copying, the last scene copied to a disc is automatically 
    divided to fit the space on the disc.
    ≥The number of discs necessary for copying is automatically calculated. However, copying may be 
    completed using less discs than the number displayed if there is other data on the SD card or if 
    scenes were automatically divided.
    ≥When the disc that was copied to is played back on another device, the picture may momentarily stop 
    at the points where the scenes switch.
    DISC COPYPress the DISC COPY button on the playback 
    thumbnail view to display the selection screen in 
    Step 2, so that you can copy data again.

    ≥Only discs that have been copied by connecting this unit to the DVD burner or where motion 
    pictures have been recorded in AVCHD format can be played back. It may not be possible to 
    play back discs recorded on other devices.

    ≥When playing back on a TV, connect this unit to the TV with HDMI mini cable, component cable or AV

    ≥Connect this unit to the DVD burner and then select [PLAY DISC]. (l96)
    ∫Formatting discs
    This is for initializing DVD-RAM and DVD-RW 
    discs.
    ≥Select [ ] tab.
    Please be aware that if a disc is formatted, 
    then all the data recorded on the disc will be 
    erased. Back up important data on a PC etc.
    Select the menu. (l29)
    ≥When the confirmation message appears, 
    select [YES], then press the cursor button.
    ≥When formatting is complete, press the MENU 
    button to exit the message screen.
    ≥Connect this unit and the DVD burner to format 
    discs. You may no longer be able to use the 
    discs if you format them on another device 
    such as a PC etc.
    ∫Auto protect
    You can protect (write protect) a DVD-RAM or 
    DVD-RW disc when copying to it so that it is not 
    formatted by mistake when you insert it in 
    another device.
    ≥Select [ ] tab.

    ≥The default setting is [ON].
    ≥We recommend setting [AUTO PROTECT] to 
    [ON] in order to prevent accidental deletion on 
    other devices. 
    If a disc that you copied to is inserted in 
    another device without protecting it, a message 
    may be displayed prompting you to format the 
    disc. If the disc is formatted, important data will 
    be erased and the process cannot be 
    reversed.
    2Copy to the disc. (l98)
    ≥The copied disc is write protected when it is 
    ejected if [AUTO PROTECT] is [ON].
    To release the disc protection
    ≥If you format a disc, the auto protection is 
    released. Please be aware that if a disc is 
    formatted, then all the data recorded on the 
    disc is erased and cannot be recovered.
    ≥The disc will need to be re-formatted on the 
    device you will use.
    ∫Displaying disc information
    Information such as the type of recorded disc, 
    the number of recorded scenes and whether or 
    not the disc is finalized is displayed.

    Dubbing images onto other 
    video device
    Images played back on this unit can be dubbed onto a DVD recorder or video device.
    ≥Images are dubbed in standard quality.
    ≥Use the AC adaptor to free you from worrying about the battery running down.
    1Connect this unit to a video device and then set the mode dial to  .

    3Start recording on the connected device.
    ≥To stop recording (dubbing), stop playback on this unit after stopping recording on the recorder.
    ≥If the date and time display and function indication are not wanted, cancel them before dubbing.

    In this case, refer to the operating instruction of the device you are connecting to or read the

    With a printer (PictBridge)
    To print pictures by directly connecting this unit to the printer, use a printer compatible with PictBridge. 
    (Read the operating instructions for the printer.)
    PictBridge is an industry standard from the Camera & Imaging Products Association (CIPA) for direct 
    printing. It allows images to be printed directly from digital cameras to a printer, without having to 
    connect the camera to a PC.
    ≥Turn on this unit. (This function is available in all modes.)
    AUSB cable (supplied)
    ≥Insert the plugs as far as they will go.
    1Connect this unit to a printer.
    The USB function selection screen will appear.
    ≥Do not use any other USB connection cables 
    except the supplied one. (Operation is not 
    guaranteed with any other USB cables.)
    2Select [PictBridge] and press the 
    cursor button.
    ≥If the [PictBridge] indication does not appear or 
    continues to flash, disconnect and then 
    reconnect the USB cable.
    3Select a still picture to be printed, 
    then press the cursor button.
    4Select the desired number of prints, 
    then press the cursor button.
    ≥You can set up to 9 prints.
    ≥To cancel the setting, set the number of prints 
    to [0].
    ≥Up to 8 files can be set in succession by 
    repeating steps 3 and 4.

    ≥You cannot set paper sizes not supported on

    8Select the desired layout setting 
    on [PAGE LAYOUT].

    ≥You cannot set page layouts not supported on 
    the printer.
    9Select [PRINT] # [YES] and 
    press the cursor button to print 
    the pictures.
    ≥Exit PictBridge by disconnecting the USB cable 
    (supplied) after the pictures have been printed.
    When you stop printing halfway
    Move the cursor button down.
    ≥A confirmation message appears. If [YES] is 
    selected, the number of prints set is canceled 
    and the screen returns to step 3. If [NO] is 
    selected, all the settings are kept and the 
    screen returns to step 3.
    ≥Avoid the following operations during printing. 
    These operations disable proper printing.
    jDisconnecting the USB cable
    jOpening the SD card cover and removing 
    the SD card
    jSwitching the mode dial
    jTurn the unit off
    ≥Check the settings for the paper size, print 
    quality etc. on the printer.
    ≥The print quality varies with paper size.
    ≥The edges of still pictures recorded in this unit 
    with a 16:9 aspect ratio may be cut off. When 
    using a printer with a trimming or borderless 
    printing function, cancel this function before 
    printing. (Refer to the operating instructions of 
    the printer for details.)
    ≥When the unit is connected directly to the 
    printer, the DPOF settings cannot be used.
    ≥Connect the printer directly to this unit. Do not 
    use a USB hub.

    ∫To use the HD Writer 2.6E
    You will need a high performance PC depending on the functions to be used. It may not properly play 
    back or properly operate depending on the environment of the PC used. Refer to the operating 
    environment and notes on page 111.
    ≥Operation during the playback may become slow if the CPU or memory is not fulfilling the 
    requirements of the operating environment.
    ≥Always use the most current driver for the video card.
    ≥Always make sure there is enough capacity on the HDD in the PC. It may become inoperable or the 
    operation may stop suddenly if the capacity gets low.

    Important Notice
    ≥Do not insert a disc recorded in AVCHD format with HD Writer 2.6E in a device that does not 
    support the AVCHD format. In some cases the disc may get stuck in the device. The disc 
    will not play back on devices that do not support the AVCHD format.
    ≥When inserting a disc containing recorded motion pictures into other devices, a message 
    prompting you to format the disc may be displayed. Do not format the disc, since deleted 
    data cannot be restored later.

    Before opening the CD-ROM package, please read the following.
    You (“Licensee”) are granted a license for the 
    Software defined in this End User Software 
    Agreement (“Agreement”) on condition that you

    Agreement. If Licensee does not agree to the 
    terms and conditions of this Agreement, promptly 
    return the Software to Matsushita Electric 
    Industrial Co., Ltd. (“Matsushita”), its distributors 
    or dealers from which you made the purchase.
    Article 1 License
    Licensee is granted the right to use the software, 
    including the information recorded or described 
    on the CD-ROM, instruction manuals, and any 
    other media provided to Licensee (collectively 
    “Software”), but all applicable rights to patents, 
    copyrights, trademarks and trade secrets in the 
    Software are not transferred to Licensee.
    Article 2 Use by a Third Party
    Licensee may not use, copy, modify, transfer or 
    allow any third party, whether free of charge or 
    not, to use, copy or modify the Software, except 
    as expressly provided for in this Agreement.
    Article 3 Restrictions on Copying the Software
    Licensee may make a single copy of the 
    Software in whole or in part solely for back-up 
    purposes.
    Article 4 PC
    Licensee may only use the Software on a single 
    PC at a single location.
    Article 5 Reverse Engineering, Decompiling or 
    Disassembly
    Licensee may not reverse engineer, decompile, 
    or disassemble the Software, except to the 
    extent either of them is permitted under law or 
    regulation of the country where Licensee resides. 
    Matsushita, or its distributors or dealers will not 
    be responsible for any defects in the Software or 
    damage to Licensee caused by Licensee’s 
    reverse engineering, decompiling, or 
    disassembly of the Software.Article 6 Limitation of Liability
    The Software is provided “AS-IS” without 
    warranty of any kind, either expressed or implied, 
    including, but not limited to, warranties of non-
    infringement, merchantability and/or fitness for a 
    particular purpose. Further, Matsushita does not 
    warrant that the operation of the Software will be 
    uninterrupted or error free. Matsushita or any of 
    its distributors or dealers will not be liable for any 
    damage suffered by Licensee arising from or in 
    connection with Licensee’s use of the Software.
    Article 7 Export Control
    Licensee agrees not to export or re-export to any 
    country the Software in any form without the 
    appropriate export licenses under regulations of 
    the country where Licensee resides, if 
    necessary.
    Article 8 Termination of License
    The right granted to Licensee hereunder will be 
    automatically terminated if Licensee violates any 
    of the terms and conditions of this Agreement. 
    Upon such automatic termination, Licensee must 
    destroy the Software and related documentation 
    together with all the copies thereof at Licensee’s 
    own expense.
