w White balance adjus\ptment
In order for the white to be r\eeproduced accurately, the ratio 
between the three primary colors (RGB) is a\edjusted. If the 
white balance has sh\eifted out of adjust\ement, not only will \ethe 
white be reproduced p\eoorly but the color tones o\ef the entire 
screen will also be d\eegraded.
p
 This adjustment must be performed when using t\phe 
unit for the first time or when th\pe unit has not bee\pn 
used for a prolonged period.
p
 It must be performed when the ligh\pting conditions or\p 
brightness has changed.
\bs the type of adjus\etment used, \bWB (automatic whit\ee 
balance adjustment) \ewhich is used to ad\ejust the white 
balance when the \bWB button on the contro\eller is pressed, 
\bTW (automatic tracking white balance ad\ejustment) which 
is used to keep adjusting the wh\eite balance at all ti\emes, or 
manual adjustment can \ebe selected.
The results of the \bWB adjustment can b\ee stored in two 
memories, \b and B, when “\bWB \b” or “\bWB B” has been 
selected for the white balance\e. p
 Once the white balan\ece values have been adjusted, thei\er 
setup procedure will b\ee completed simply by selecting 
them using the camer\ea menus or web settings, or by 
pressing the buttons on the contr\eoller, provided that they 
are going to be used\e under the same cond\eitions as the 
ones established when the values were set.  
There is no need to \eset it again.
p
 Once a new setting is entered\e, the previous setting will b\ee 
erased.
Use the two memories to store setting\es corresponding to \e
different shooting cond\eitions.
p

1	Shoot a white subje\pct (such as a white wall o\pr 
handkerchief) so that it f\pills the screen.

 Do not shoot shiny or very bright objects.

2 through 8 represent the procedu\ere for selecting 
the “\bWB \b” or “\bWB B” memory. They need not be taken 
if a selection has a\elready been made.

the white balance co\euld not be adjusted.\e

 If color bars have been selected (the [\eMOD\f] button 
or [B\bR/C\bM] button’s lamp lights) or if\e \bTW is 
selected (the [\bTW] button’s lamp lights), it m\eeans 
that the [\bWC] button is not working or that the aut\eo 
white balance adjust\ement has failed. (The button’s 
lamp lights.)

 White balance may not be correctly s\eet if the lighting 
of the object is to\eo weak.
p
 Since the unit has \ea built-in memory, the set white 
balance will remain i\en the memory even if power is 
turned off. Therefore, it is not necessa\ery to reset the 
white balance if the\e color temperature of those objec\ets 
remains unchanged. However, it must be reset if the \e
color temperature changes, such as when you move 
from indoors to ou\etside, or vice versa.

q Auto tracking white adjustm\pent (ATW)
When the white balan\ece adjustment is set\e to “\bTW”, the 
white balance contin\eues to be adjusted a\eutomatically all 
the time, and it is automa\etically corrected even when the 
light source or colo\er temperature has changed t\eo produce 
completely natural pictures.
This function works when “\bTW” is selected instead \eof 
“\bWB \b” or “\bWB B” by following the steps for “\butomatic 
adjustment” in “White balance adjus\etment” (page 23).
p
 \bTW might not funct\eion properly when high brightness 
light (ex. fluorescent lamp) be\eams into a screen.
p
 White balance may not be accurately set if there is\e no 
white object in the \escene being shot.
p
 The white balance ma\ey shift out of adj\eustment when 
a different kind of light s\eource such as sunli\eght or 
fluorescent lighting\e applies.

devices used.
The black level can be adjusted o\enly when Manual1, 
Manual2 or Manual3 is selected as t\ehe shooting mode 
(scene file).

times so that the \p“PEDESTAL TOTAL” item is 
displa\fed on the LCD panel\p.
4	Turn the jog dial (m\pain) and adjust th\pe black 
level to 0.035 V.
5	If necessar\f, adjust the iris a\putomaticall\f.
   Press the [IRIS] button several times to turn\p on its 
lamp.
When the AW‑RP555 is connecte\pd:
1	Press the [IRIS] button several times to turn\p off 
its lamp.
Set the iris to the manual ([M\bNU]) mode.
2	Turn the [LEVEL] di\pal of [IRIS] to stop\p down the 
lens iris.
3	Follow the operation ste\pps in “Basic 
operations” (page 38), and use the camera menu 
to perform the adjustment\p.

The genlock adjustment is performed to achieve phase 
alignment by applying external synchronization\e (genlock) 
when a multiple number of cameras will be used or w\ehen the 
unit will be used in\e combination with \eother devices.
This unit supports the BBS signal a\es the genlock signal.
\bsk your dealer to perform this adjustment.
(Use a dual-trace oscilloscope for the adjustment.)\e
(The genlock function is not a\evailable with the \bW -H\f60H.)

Observe the waveforms of the external sync signal inpu\et

The color phase adju\estment must be performed if the 
pictures are to be s\ewitched using a vid\eeo switcher or other 
device when the video \eoutput signals have been set as 
composite signals.
It need not be performed when the video o\eutput signals have 
been set as component\e signals.
The camera’s color phase is ali\egned with the program output 
(split color bar out\eput) signals of a c\eolor special effect device 
or other color tones\e that will serve as the reference.
(The color phase can\e be adjusted more ac\ecurately if a 
vectorscope is used f\eor the adjustment.)\e
