Applicable modes: 
Sets the screen display and lens operations when using an interchangeable lens that is 
compatible with power zoom (electrically operated zoom).
This may only be selected when using a lens that is compatible with power zoom 
(electrically operated zoom).

The interchangeable lenses (H-FS12032/H-FS35100/H-X015) are not compatible with power 
zoom.

You can perform zoom operations by touching. (Touch zoom)
(Optical Zoom and Extended Tele Conversion for still picture re cording are 
operable)

If you are using an interchangeable lens not supporting power z oom (H-FS12032/H-FS35100/
H-X015), you can only operate the Extended Tele Conversion for  pictures by setting [Ex. Tele 
Conv.] (P198)  to  [ZOOM].

Taking Pictures with the Flash (Supplied)
Applicable modes: 
To take pictures with the camera using a flash, attach an external flash. Please note that 
this section provides instructions based on the flash (supplied ).

For information on other external flashes, refer to  P324.

Forcing the flash off ([Œ])
In situations where pictures cannot be taken with the flash, su ch as when the flash 
(supplied) is turned off or when you are recording a motion pic ture, [
Œ] (forced flash 
off) is displayed on the recording screen and the flash does not fire.
In the following cases, the flash is fixed to [ Œ] (forced flash off).

When recording motion pictures

∫The available flash range (approximation)
When you use certain lenses, light from the flash may be 
blocked or fail to cover the lens field of view, causing dark 
areas to appear in the resulting pictures.
The distance at which light from the flash is blocked by lens, and 
the distance to which light from the flash is delivered vary 
depending on the lens used. Check the distance to the subject 
when taking a picture.

Setting the Flash Functions
•[Flash] in the [Rec] menu is available only when an external flash is attached.
Applicable modes: 
Select whether to set the flash output automatically or manuall y.

When [MANUAL] is set, the luminosity ratio ([1/1], etc.) is dis played on the flash icon on the 
screen.

∫Shutter speed for each flash setting
¢1 In Shutter Priority AE Mode, the shutter speed can be set to a  value between 60 seconds 
and 1/50th of a second; in Manual Exposure Mode, it can be set  to T (Time) or a value 
between 60 seconds and 1/50th of a second.
