Note: LTo activate this feature, you need to turn the power switch of the unit OFF, then ON. Setting the e-mail server information[E-Mail Feature]Enter the e-mail server and SMTP server information to carry out the following functions: – Sending scanned images from the unit via an e-mail (page 36). – Saving the fax document as an e-mail attachment (page 52). Registering the e-mail destinations (via an e- mail server)[E-Mail Feature]Register e-mail destinations (up to 300 destinations) for the unit. See page 66, 71 for details. Setting the error notify feature[Error Notify][Enabled]: The unit will send an e-mail to registered destinations when a problem occurs. [Disabled] (default): Deactivates this feature. Setting the information for the error notify feature[Error Notify]Enter the e-mail server and SMTP server information to send error notification e-mails to.

[Life Warning]: A warning indicating that the toner cartridge, drum cartridge or waste toner cartridge needs to be replaced soon. [Media Path Error]: An error indicating that there is a problem with the paper input tray. [Life Error]: An error indicating that the toner cartridge, drum cartridge or waste toner cartridge needs to be replaced. Setting the scan to e- mail print feature[Scan to E-Mail Print][Enabled]: The unit will automatically print e-mail attachments that it receives. [Disabled] (default): Deactivates this feature. See page 34 for details. Setting the e-mail checking interval for the scan to e-mail print feature[Scan to E-Mail Print]Enter the desired e-mail checking interval. Setting the header print option for the scan to e- mail print feature[Scan to E-Mail Print][Enabled] (default): The unit will print the header information along with the received e-mail attachments. Useful Information 78 10 Useful Information U se ful In for m at i on 10.1 Character entry The dial keypad is used to enter characters and numbers. –Press {} to move the cursor. – Press dial keys to enter characters and numbers. –Press {Back} to erase the character or number highlighted by the cursor. Press and hold {Back} to erase all characters or numbers. – To enter another character located on the same dial key, press {>} to move the cursor to the next space, then press the appropriate dial key. To select characters using {V} or {^} Instead of pressing the dial keys, you can select characters using {V} or {^}. 1.Press {V} repeatedly to display the desired character. Characters will be displayed in the following order: 1 Uppercase letters 2 Numbers 3 Symbols 4 Lowercase letters LIf you press {^}, the order will be reversed. 2.Press {>} to insert the displayed character. 3.Return to step 1 to enter the next character. 10.2 Status of the unit 10.2.1 Using Remote Control You can easily operate the following functions from your computer. – Programming the features (page 60) – Storing, editing or erasing items in directories (page 46) – Storing or erasing items for broadcast transmission (page 48) – Viewing items in the journal report (page 46) – Saving the journal report to your computer – Viewing items in the Caller ID list (page 56) – Storing caller information into directories (page 57) – Saving the Caller ID list on your computer 1Start Multi-Function Station. i [Remote Control] LThe [Multi-Function Remote Control] window will appear. 2Select the desired tab. LThe latest data in the unit will be displayed. 3Perform the desired operation. LFor details about each function, click [Help]. Useful Information 79 10.2.2 Using Device Monitor You can confirm the setting information and current status of the unit from your computer. 1Start Multi-Function Station. 2[Utilities] i [Device Monitor] LThe [Device Monitor] window will appear. 3Confirm the status of the unit. [Status]: Current status of the unit Note: LAdditional information (toner and recording paper status, unit information, etc.) will be displayed in [Status] tab by clicking [Advanced Information]. LYou can update the status of the unit by clicking [Refresh]. LIf a printing error occurs, the Device Monitor will start automatically and display the error information. LFor details, see the help file by selecting [p] from Multi-Function Station. 10.2.3 Using the web browser (LAN connection only) You can confirm the setting information and status of the unit from the web browser. 1Start Multi-Function Station. i [Utilities] i [Configuration Web Page] LYou can also access the unit by entering its IP address in a web browser. 2Select a category from the menu bar. [Status]: Toner and paper information, etc. [Device]: Current status of the unit, etc. [Advance]: Feature settings information, etc. [Network]: Network information, etc. LWhen you select [Device], [Advance] or [Network], you can change which features are displayed by clicking the feature tabs at the top of the right frame. 3Confirm the status of the unit. Note: LYou can update the status of the unit by clicking [Reload]. 10.3 Canceling the operations You can cancel the current operation from the unit. This unit supports the following commercially available memory cards. These are referred to as SD cards in the operating instructions. – SD Memory Card (up to 2 GB) *1 – SDHC™ Memory Card (up to 32 GB)*1 – miniSD™ Card (up to 2 GB) (adaptor required)*2 – miniSDHC™ Card (up to 16 GB) (adaptor required)*2 – microSD™ Card (up to 2 GB) (adaptor required)*2 – microSDHC™ Card (up to 16 GB) (adaptor required)*2 *1 Equipped with a write-protect switch that can prevent data from being written to the card. *2 First insert the card into the adaptor, and then insert the adaptor into the SD card slot. The card adaptor is equipped with a write-protect switch that can prevent data from being written to the card. LTo ensure that the unit operates properly, we recommend the use of Panasonic SD cards. Important: LDo not remove the SD card or turn the power switch off while reading or writing data to avoid damage to the data. LBe sure to make a backup copy of the data. LWe are not responsible for any damages incurred to your SD card resulting from corrupted, or lost data. LWhen the write-protect switch is in the lock position, it is not possible to write data to the card. Be sure that the switch is unlocked (1) to ensure correct operation. Note: LConfirm the SD card icon and the SD card access icon on the display (page 9). If the SD access icon is green, the SD card is working correctly. LAn SD card is not supplied. Please purchase a supported SD card. LThe access speed may be slightly different depending on the kind of SD card. LFor details on the SD card, see the operating instructions of the SD card. 1
