    (d) If the following message appears during uninstall,
    click .
    ( e ) Check disk scheduling
    Enter chkdsk /f c: on the command prompt panel.
    After that, You will be asked Check disk
    scheduling (Y/N)?
    So enter y on the command prompt panel. 
    This executes the check-disk in restarting.

    5. Installing the New Targa Driver
    ( a ) Installing the Targa driver
    Insert a CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. (The case
    where the CD-ROM drive is d:¥ is described below.)
    Move the cursor to the Run command in the Start
    menu and click the command.  The Run window will
    be displayed.  
    Type the command, d:¥Targa¥disk1¥setup.exe in
    the Open field of the Run window and click the 
    button.  This starts the Targa installer, so start
    installing as instructed on the panel.  The subsequent
    operations are the same as installing a Targa driver
    for the first time.  Start installing according to the
    instructions on the panel shown.
    After install is completed, the panel asks whether or
    not to restart, so restart as shown on the panel.
    (b) After restart, double-click the icon Display on the
    control panel.
    (c) Select Settings from Display Properties and click
    .

    ( d ) Click  in Display Type. 
    ( e ) Click  in Display Modification.
    ( f ) The directory of the display driver is to be opened,
    so enter
    C:¥TARGA2KDV¥WINNT¥Display and click  .
    ( g ) Confirm that Truevision DVR Display is displayed
    on the screen and click  .
    ( h ) The message The drivers were successfully
    installed appears.  Click  .
    ( i ) Click  in Display Types
    ( j ) Click  in Screen Properties
    ( k ) The message You must restart your computer

    ( l ) Windows NT starts up.  When the Control Panel
    opens, close it.
    When the message A new graphics driver has been
    installed appears, click  .
    ( m ) Click and drag the mark on the frame of the desktop
    area in Screen Properties to adjust it for the
    resolution of 1152 x 870 pixels.  Here, confirm that
    the font size is small and that the Refresh Frequency
    is 75 Hz.
    ( n ) Click  , and click  to enter test mode.  The
    test screen appears.
    ( o ) If the test screen is displayed correctly, click  .
    ( p ) Click  in Display Properties to close this
    screen.  The resolution will change.

    restart, the new version of DVEdit is ready for use.

    OPERATING PROCEDURES
    Refer to the reference manual for details on how to store and edit video and audio material.
    nStarting the System
    1. Turn on the power switches on the peripheral equipment, any hard disk units, and the computer, in that order.
    2. Start up Windows NT.  Double click DVEdit Shortcut.
    3. After the application starts up, the initial screen (Tool Box, BIN Manager, and BIN Window) is displayed on the per-
    sonal computers monitor.

    1. Click  on the Tool Box.
    2. If you wish to exit, click 
    application shuts down.OKExit3. Quit Windows NT.  Once the message, It is now
    safe to turn off your computer appears, turn off the
    power switch for the computer, and then the power
    switches for peripherals, in that order.
    nClosing the System 
    						
    							523.3. SCSI Device Setup Check
    Press [Ctrl]+[A] on the BIOS screen to show the SCSI
    Utility screen and check the following.
    ( a ) Are all the maximum sync transfer rate settings 40.0
    MB?  (Check both channels A and B.)
    (b) Are all the connected disks Verify once on the SCSI
    Utility?  (Check both channels A and B.)
    3.4. Setup Check with Administrator
    Start the administrator panel by taking the steps in the
    order of Start 
    pProgram pManagement Tools
    (Common) 
    pDisk Administrator, and check the
    following.
    ( a ) Are all the connected disks displayed?
    (b) Is the drive name of disk 0 C:?
    ( c ) Is the format of disk 0 NTFS?
    (d) Is a drive name allocated to the disk for audio data
    storage?  (If there are two or more disks for audio
    data storage, check it for all the disks.)
    (e) Is the format of the disks for audio data storage
    NTFS?  (Check it for all the disks for video and title
    data storage.)
    ( f ) Is a drive name allocated to the disk for video and
    title data storage?  (If there are two or more disks for
    video and title data storage, check it for all the disks.)
    (g) Is the format of the disks for video and title data
    storage Unknown?  (Check it for all the disks for
    video and title data storage.)
    3.5. Virtual Memory Setup Check
    Open the Control Panel by taking the steps in the order
    of Start
    pSetuppControl Panel.
    Then, double-click the icon System to open the system
    property menu, and select the tab Performance.  Click
    the  button, one of the virtual memory items, to
    open the virtual memory panel, then check the following.
    ( a ) Is the drive set in the paging file C:?
    (b) Is the initial size of the paging file 300 MB?
    ( c ) Is the maximum size of the paging file 400 MB?
    Change
    1.  Board Installation Check
    ( a ) Is the Targa board installed in the first slot from the
    CPU?
    (b) Is the SCSI board installed in the second slot from the
    CPU?
    ( c ) Is the JOG board inserted?
    (d) If the Targa board clamp has a grounding wire
    attached to it, is the grounding wire connected to the
    cabinet?
    2.  Cable Connection Check
    ( a ) Is the keyboard connected?
    (b) Is the mouse connected?
    ( c ) Arent the keyboard and mouse connected the other
    way round?
    (d) Is the power cable connected?
    ( e ) Is the forked cable connected to the Targa board and
    VGA card correctly and fastened with screws,
    respectively?
    ( f ) Is the VGA cable connected and screwed to the
    forked cable?
    (g) Is the VTR control cable connected?
    ( h ) Is the VTR switched on?
    ( i ) Is the VTR switch in the Remote position?
    ( j ) Is JOGPAD connected?
    ( k ) Is the LTC cable connected?
    ( l ) Are the video input/output cables connected and
    screwed to the Targa board?
    3.  Check After Switching Power On
    3.1. Starting Screen Check
    ( a ) Is the memory capacity (standard: 64 MB) normal?
    (b) Is the CD-ROM drive name displayed (only
    momentarily)?
    ( c ) Is the system disk name displayed?
    (d) Is the SCSI card name displayed?
    ( e ) Are all the SCSI disk names displayed?
    3.2. BIOS Setup Check
    ( a ) Is Power Management disabled?
    (b) Is Plug&Play OS set to No?

    ( a ) Do the jumper settings (IRQ, I/O address) on the JOG
    board agree with the DVEdit software settings?
    (b) Is the Targa driver installed?
    ( c ) Is the SCSI driver installed?
    (d) Is the display driver changed for Targa?
    ( e ) Is DVEdit installed?
    ( f ) Is the font installed in Windows?
    (g) Is the font additionally registered in DVEdit? (Register
    it with Font Setup on the Special panel.)
    (h) Has the device been set up? (Set up Reference,
    VTR Type, Input/Output Type, etc. with Device
    Setup on the Special panel.)
    After checking all of the above, confirm again that the
    installation procedures have been completed.  Then,
    check on the Windows NT Diagnostic Program panel
    that IRQ assignments have been properly made on the
    panel shown below.  IRQ, etc. may not always agree with
    the example shown below.

    1. Check with Device Setup on the Special panel
    that the device settings agree with the connections.
    2. Clips can be created using the manual digitizer.
    (About 5 each of Ado, Vdo, A/V) 
    Check that an NTSC image is shown in the lower
    right part of the VGA monitor.
    3.Clips can be created using the batch digitizer.
    (About 5 each of Ado, Vdo, A/V)
    Check that an NTSC image is shown in the lower
    right part of the VGA monitor.
    4.Clips can be created using the title editor.
    (About 5)
    5.Transition settings can be made using the
    sequence editor, and can be reproduced as
    per the settings.  
    Transition time is 50 frames.  Check by Preview
    that the following wipe operation is normal.  The
    transition panel is shown for reference (page 55).
    • Basic (H, V, Square, Round, Star, Heart; 5 from
    the right on the third line from the bottom; 4 from
    the right on the first line from the bottom; CUT,
    MIX)
    • Slide (1, 2, 3, 4 from the left on the first line from
    the top; all on the fourth line from the top; 1, 2
    from the left on the fifth line from the top)
    • Compress (All on the third line from the top)
    • Zoom (1 from the left on the first line from the top;
    1 from the left on the second line from the top; 1
    from the left on the third line from the top; 1 from
    the left on the fourth line from the top)
    • Zoom + Fade (1 from the left on the first line from
    the top; 1 from the left from the second line from
    the top; 1 from the left on the third line from the
    top; 1 from the left on the fourth line from the top)
    6.Title settings can be made using the
    sequence editor, and can be reproduced as
    per the settings.
    7.Video key settings can be made using the
    sequence editor, and can be reproduced as
    per the settings.
    8.Audio Modify (Level (channels 1 and 2), VR,
    Balance VR, Master VR) settings can be made
    using the sequence editor, and can be
    reproduced as per the settings.
    9.Rendering operation by the sequence editor is
    normal.
    Render those parts which include transitions, key
    video, and key title.  The rendered clips are
    created as per the settings.10.The results of editing using the sequence
    editor can be saved as clips.  They can be
    reopened and reproduced.
    11.Check trim mode operations with the sequence
    editor.
    Check also that two NTSC windows are shown in
    the lower left part of the VGA monitor.
    12.Check the images in the NTSC windows in the
    lower left part of the VGA monitor.
    Check that the images in the windows are correct
    when clip in and out points are selected.
    13.Check the frame accuracy with the clip editor.
    Check that the clips created using the batch
    digitizer have correct frame accuracy.
    14.Sequence data can be recorded by a video
    taperecorder by Rec To Video.
    Also adjust the timecode, video, and frame
    accuracy, and check that sequence data is
    recorded as per the settings.

    nHow to install the board
    Plug the AY-PB500 board (TARGA DV2000 board) into the PCI slot that is closest to the CPU (or the next closest slot, if
    the board will not physically fit into the closest slot).  Here, firmly mount the board spacer between the guide rails on the
    computer.  Screw down the cover (AY-PB500).
    Then use the twist-tab wire to secure the board spacer to the guide rails inside the computer.

    APPENDIX
    Use the twist-tab wire to secure the board spacer to the guide rails inside the computer.
    Twist the twist-tab wire and secure it properly.
    Check that the board spacer has been secured properly.
    Connect the ground wire to the computers chassis only when the metal type of board spacer is supplied.
