Owner preferences
The Owner Preferences screen enables you to record a name, company name, 
phone number, or any other information that you want to associate with your 
handheld.
If you use the Security application to turn off and lock your handheld with a 
password, information that you put in the Owner Preferences displays the next 
time you turn on your handheld. See Chapter 1 for more information.

To create a ShortCut:

2.On the ShortCut name line, enter the letters you want to use to activate the 
ShortCut.
3.Tap the ShortCut Text area and enter the text that you want to appear when you 
write the ShortCut characters.
TIPYou may want to add a space (space character) after the last word in your 
ShortCut text. This way, a space automatically follows the ShortCut text.

Battery considerations
Please note the following considerations for the battery in your handheld:
nUnder normal conditions, your handheld battery should remain charged by 
placing it in the cradle for just ten to fifteen minutes each day. You can conserve 
battery life by setting the backlight brightness to low, and changing the Auto-
off setting that automatically turns off the handheld after a period of inactivity.

Resetting your handheld

To perform a soft reset:
nUse the tip of an unfolded paper clip (or similar object 
without a sharp tip), to 
gently press the reset button inside the hole on the back panel of your handheld.
Performing a hard reset
With a hard reset, all records and entries stored in your handheld are erased. Never 
perform a hard reset unless a soft reset does not solve your problem. 
NOTEYou can restore any data previously synchronized with your computer during 
the next HotSync operation....

To restore your data from a Windows computer after a hard reset:
1.Click the HotSync icon  ™ in the Windows system tray (bottom-right corner 
of the taskbar).
TIPYou can also click the HotSync command on the Palm™ Desktop software 
menu bar.
2.From the HotSync Manager menu, choose Custom.
3.Select the appropriate user name from the list.
4.Select an application in the Conduit list.
5.Click Change.

To restore your data from a Mac computer after a hard reset:
1.Double-click the HotSync Manager in the Palm folder.
2.From the HotSync menu, choose Conduit Settings.
3.From the Users pop-up menu, select the appropriate user name.
4.Select an application from the list.
5.Click Conduit Settings.
6.Click Macintosh overwrites handheld.
NOTEChanging the HotSync setting from the default affects only the
