! CAUTION:
Do not plug the A/C adapters into a 240-vac outlet because
you will damage the adapter and the module. You must first
obtain an adapter to convert 240 vac to 120 vac.
5. Administer the line (if applicable) and station ports by using the
procedures in the

Installing the Multi-Mount Rack
Connections to the port on the DEFINITY ECS and to the analog
line are made through a 50-pin Amphenol connector, which the
customer must supply. This connector provides the connections for
all 12 Rack-Mount Modules (listed as Cards A–L). See the

Follow these steps to install the Multi-Mount Rack:
! CAUTION:
Do not plug the A/C adapters into the electrical outlets until
instructed to do so in the following procedure.
1. Create a cross-connect or wall field so that the 50-pin
Amphenol cable can be used to connect the DEFINITY analog
circuit pack (the 8-port TN742 or the 16-port TN746) and
dedicated central office lines to the 50-pin Amphenol port on the
Multi-Mount Rack (see Figure 3-3). See the

Mount Rack. Plug the adapter into a standard 120-vac electrical
outlet.
! CAUTION:
Do not plug the A/C adapters into a 240-vac outlet because
you will damage the adapter and the module. You must first
obtain an adapter to convert 240 vac to 120 vac.

Issue 3 July 1997 3-15 Administering the Line and Station Ports
Administer the line (if applicable) and station ports by using the
procedures in the
DEFINITY® Communications System Generic 3
Implementation Guide, Issue 1,
 document #555-230-655.
nIf the Multi-Mount Rack is connected to an analog circuit
pack, you should administer the line ports for Direct Inward
Dialing (DID) operation.
nAdminister the station ports as you would any other on-
premise stations.

Connections for Data
Transmission
By using the COM 1 port on the Switch Module, you can establish
simultaneous data transmission between the off-premise location
and the on-premise location. Typically this involves a personal
computer (a “remote data terminal”) at the off-premise location
communicating with an RS-232 server link on-premise (at the
DEFINITY ECS location).
NOTE:
The factory setting for the data transmission rate is 9.6 kbps. If the
user at the Remote...
