If you see Ready on the printer display after you have replaced a photoconductor, continue with steps 1–7: 1To specify the replaced photoconductor, press . Supplies Menu appears. 2Press . Replace Supply appears. 3Press . 4Press the up or down arrow button until All, Cyan photoconductor, Magenta photoconductor, Yellow photoconductor, or Black photoconductor appears, depending on the photoconductor you just replaced. 5Press . photoconductor replaced appears. Yes appears. 6Press . 7Press until Ready appears. Replacing the waste toner box Replace the waste toner box when 82 Replace waste toner box or 82 Waste toner box nearly full appears. Moving the printer Before moving the printer CAUTION—POTENTIAL INJURY: The printer weight is greater than 18 kg (40 lb) and requires two or more trained personnel to lift it safely. CAUTION—POTENTIAL INJURY: Before moving the printer, follow these guidelines to avoid personal injury or printer damage: Turn the printer off using the power switch, and then unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Disconnect all cords and cables from the printer before moving it. Lift the printer off the optional drawer, and set it aside instead of trying to lift the drawer and printer at the same time. Note: Use the handholds located on both sides and rear of the printer to lift it off the optional drawer. Warning—Potential Damage: Damage to the printer caused by improper moving is not covered by the printer warranty. Moving the printer to another location The printer and options can be safely moved to another location by following these precautions: Any cart used to move the printer must have a surface able to support the full footprint of the printer. Any cart used to move the options must have a surface able to support the dimensions of the options. Keep the printer in an upright position. Avoid severe jarring movements. Using the Embedded Web Server 1Type the printer IP address into the address field of your Web browser. Note: If you do not know the IP address of the printer, then you can: View the IP address on the printer control panel in the TCP/IP section under the Networks/Ports menu. Print a network setup page or the menu settings pages and locate the IP address in the TCP/IP section. 2Click one of the tabs to access information about the printer, change settings, or view a report. Note: If the printer is connected to a computer by a USB or parallel cable, then open the Local Printer Settings Utility for Windows or Printer Settings for Macintosh to access printer menus. Checking the virtual display The virtual display works as an actual display would work on a printer control panel, showing printer messages. To access the Embedded Web Server, type the printer IP address into the address field of your Web browser. Note: If you do not know the IP address of the printer, then you can: View the IP address on the printer control panel in the TCP/IP section under the Networks/Ports menu. Checking the device status From the Device Status page of the Embedded Web Server, it is possible to see paper tray settings, the level of toner in the toner cartridge, the percentage of life remaining in the photoconductor kit, and capacity measurements of certain printer parts. 1Type the printer IP address in the address field of your Web browser. Setting up e‑mail alerts You can have the printer send you an e‑mail when the supplies are getting low or when the paper needs to be changed, added, or unjammed. 1Type the printer IP address into the address field of your Web browser. Note: If you do not know the IP address of the printer, then you can: View the IP address on the printer control panel in the TCP/IP section under the Networks/Ports menu. Print a network setup page or the menu settings pages and locate the IP address in the TCP/IP section. 2Click Settings. 3Under Other Settings, click E‑mail Alert Setup. 4Select the items for notification and type the e‑mail addresses that you want to receive e‑mail alerts. 5Click Submit. Note: See your system support person to set up the e‑mail server. Viewing reports You can view some reports from the Embedded Web Server. These reports are useful for assessing the status of the printer, the network, and supplies. 1Type the printer IP address into the address field of your Web browser. Note: If you do not know the IP address of the printer, then you can: View the IP address on the printer control panel in the TCP/IP section under the Networks/Ports menu. Print a network setup page or the menu settings pages and locate the IP address in the TCP/IP section. 2Click Reports, and then click the type of report you want to view. Restoring the factory default settings If you want to retain a list of the current menu settings for reference, then print a menu settings page before you restore the factory default settings. For more information, see “Printing a menu settings page” on page 33. Warning—Potential Damage: Restoring factory defaults returns most printer settings to the original factory default setting. Exceptions include the display language, custom sizes and messages, and Network/Port menu settings. All downloads stored in RAM are deleted. Copying printer settings to other printers Using the Embedded Web Server, you can copy printer settings to up to 15 other network printers. 1Type the printer IP address into the address field of your Web browser. Note: If you do not know the IP address of the printer, then you can: View the IP address on the printer control panel in the TCP/IP section under the Networks/Ports menu. Print a network setup page or the menu settings pages and locate the IP address in the TCP/IP section. 2Click Copy Printer Settings. 3To change the language, select a language from the drop‑down list, and then click Click here to submit language. 4Click Printer Settings. 5Enter the IP addresses of the source and target printers.
