    Notes
    • Do not reuse jammed paper.
    • If paper is torn during removal, be sure to remove any loose scraps of paper from inside the machine. Failure to do so may cause another paper jam later.
    • Once all jammed paper has been removed, warm-up will begin. The error message will  disappear and the machine will return to the same settings as prior to the paper jam.
    Removal Procedures
    Paper Jam inside Cassette 1
    If Paper misfeed in cassette 1. Remove 
    paper  appears and the jam location indicator shown in 
    the illustration blinks, a paper jam has occurred in the 
    cassette. Perform the following procedure to remove 
    the jammed paper.
    1Pull out the cassette.
    2Remove any jammed paper without tearing it.
    NoteIf the paper does happen to tear, remove any loose scraps from inside the machine.
    3Push the cassette  back in firmly.
    Warning
    High voltage is present in the charger section.  Take sufficient care when working in this 
    area, as there is a danger of electrical shock.
    Caution
    The fixing unit is extremely hot. Take sufficient care when working in this area, as there 
    is a danger of getting burned.
    Paper misfeed in
    cassette 1.
    JAM11
    Remove paper.

    Notes• Check to see if paper is out of position in the cassette. If the paper is out of position, set the paper properly.
    •If  JAM21  is displayed, remove the  jammed paper referring to  Paper Jam in the Left Cover  on 
    page 6-13.
    Paper Jam inside Cassettes 2 to 4
    If Paper misfeed in cassette 2 (to  4). 
    Remove paper [ Misfeed in paper cassette 2  
    (to  4). Remove paper] and  Paper misfeed. 
    Open left cover 2 (to  4) and remove paper 
    appears and the jam location indicator shown in the 
    illustration blinks, a paper jam has occurred in the 
    optional paper feeder. Perform the following 
    procedure to remove the jammed paper.
    NoteFor the 16 ppm model, cassettes 2 to 4 are included in the optional paper feeder. For the 20 ppm 
    model and the 25 ppm model, cassettes 3 and 4 are included in the optional paper feeder.
    1Open the left cover of the cassette being used.
    2Remove any jammed paper without tearing it.
    NoteIf the paper does happen to tear, remove any loose scraps from inside the machine.
    3Close the left cover of the cassette.
    Paper misfeed in
    cassette 2.
    JAM12
    Remove paper
    Paper misfeed.
    Open left cover 2
    JAM15 and remove paper.

    4Pull out the cassette.
    5Remove any jammed paper without tearing it.
    NoteIf the paper does happen to tear, remove any loose scraps from inside the machine.
    6Push the cassette back in firmly.
    Paper Jam in the Multi-Purpose Tray (JAM10)
    If Paper misfeed in stack bypass. Remove 
    paper  appears and the jam location indicator shown in 
    the illustration blinks, a paper jam has occurred in the 
    multi-purpose tray. Perform the following procedure to 
    remove the jammed paper.
    1Remove all of the paper remaining in the multi-purpose 
    tray.
    2Reset the paper in the multi-purpose tray. The error 
    message disappears.
    Paper misfeed in
    stack bypass.

    Remove paper.

    Paper Jam in the Multi-Purpose Tray (except JAM10)
    Important!•If JAM20 is displayed, remove the  jammed paper referring to Paper Jam in the Left Cover .
    •If  JAM40 is displayed, remove the  jammed paper referring to Paper Jam in the Left Cover .
    • When removing jammed paper, do not pull  it out from the multi-purpose tray side.
    Paper Jam in the Left Cover
    If Paper misfeed. Open left cover and 
    remove paper appears and the jam location indicator 
    shown in the illustration blinks, a paper jam has 
    occurred in the left cover. Perform the following 
    procedure to remove the jammed paper.
    Important!The drum section inside the main body is sensit ive to scratches and contaminants. When removing 
    paper, be careful not to touch it or scratch it with your watch, ring, etc.
    1Pull the left cover handle up to open the left cover.
    2Remove any jammed paper without tearing it.
    NoteIf the paper does happen to tear, remove any loose scraps from inside the machine.
    Paper misfeed.
    Open left cover
    JAM30
    and remove paper.
    Caution

    3If the optional duplex unit is installed, raise the duplex 
    unit and remove any paper.
    NoteIf the paper does happen to tear, remove any loose scraps from inside the machine.
    4Close the left cover.
    Paper Jam in the Paper Output Slot
    If Paper  misfeed in Eject section Remove 
    paper  appears and the jam location indicator shown in 
    the illustration blinks, a paper jam has occurred in the 
    paper output slot. Perform the following procedure to 
    remove the jammed paper.
    Important!The drum section inside the main body is sens itive to scratches and contaminants. When removing 
    paper, be careful not to touch it or sc ratch it with your watch, ring, etc.
    1If jammed paper is seen through the paper output slot, 
    pull it out to remove it.
    NoteIf the paper does happen to tear, remove any loose scraps from inside the machine.
    2Pull the left cover handle up to open the left cover.

    Eject section

    Remove paper.

    4Close the left cover.
    Paper Jam in the Optional Document Processor
    If Misfeed in DP. Remove original(s)  appears 
    and the jam location indicator shown in the illustration 
    blinks, a paper jam has occurred in the optional 
    document processor. Perform the following procedure 
    to remove the ja mmed original(s).
    1Remove all of the originals remaining in the original 
    table.
    2Open the left cover.
    3Remove any jammed original without tearing it.
    NoteIf the original does happen to tear, remove any loose scraps from inside the document processor. 
    Failure to do so may cause another paper jam later.
    Misfeed in  DP.
    Remove original(s)

    4Raise the paper feed unit A.
    5Remove any jammed originals without tearing them.
    NoteIf the original does happen to tear, remove any  loose scraps from inside the document processor.
    6Turn the dial as shown in the illustration to remove the 
    jammed original.
    7Close the left cover to its original position.
    Reset all the originals and start copying again.
    Paper Jam in the Optional Finisher
    If  Paper misfeed in Finisher, lower 
    Process Tray and remove paper  appears and 
    the jam location indicator shown in the illustration 
    blinks, a paper jam has occurred in the optional 
    finisher. Perform the following procedure to remove the 
    jammed paper.
    Important!The drum section inside the main body is sens itive to scratches and contaminants. When removing 
    paper, be careful not to touch it or sc ratch it with your watch, ring, etc.
    1Turn the lever to lower the process tray.

    4Remove the finisher tray.
    5Pull the left cover handle up to open the left cover.
    6Remove any jammed paper.

    7Close the left cover.
    8Reattach the finisher tray.
    9Lower the process tray temporarily and return it. The error message disappears.
    Paper Jam in the Optional Job Separator
    If Paper misfeed at Job separator. Remove 
    paper  appears and the jam location indicator shown in 
    the illustration blinks, a paper jam has occurred in the 
    optional job separator. Perform the following procedure 
    to remove the jammed paper.
    Important!The drum section inside the main body is sens itive to scratches and contaminants. When removing 
    paper, be careful not to touch it or sc ratch it with your watch, ring, etc.
    1If jammed paper is seen through the paper output slot 
    of the job separator, pull it toward your side to remove 
    it.
    NoteIf the paper does happen to tear, remove any loose scraps from inside the machine.
    2Pull the left cover handle up to open the left cover.
    Paper misfeed at
    Job separator.
