    1Display the System Menu. (Refer to System Menu Operations 
    Procedures on page 5-7.)
    2Press U or V to display 02.Language.
    3Press [OK].
    4Press U or V. The display cycles through the available selection in the 
    following order:
    5Press [OK]. The display will return to that of Step 2.
    Original Image Quality
    Sets the original image quality that will be selected at the time the copier is 
    turned on.
    1Display the System Menu. (Refer to System Menu Operations 
    Procedures on page 5-7.)
    2Press U or V to display 03.Image 
    Quality.
    3Press [OK].
    4Press U or V and select Text+Ph Dens, Photo Density or Text 
    Density.
    5Press [OK]. The display will return to that of Step 2.
    Initial Density
    Sets the copy density at the time the copier is turned on to Manual or 
    Automatic.

    2Press U or V to display 04.Initial

    3Press [OK].
    4Press U or V and select Manual or Auto.
    5Press [OK]. The display will return to that of Step 2.
    EcoPrint
    Selects the initial value of EcoPrint when the power is turned on. The initial 
    value of the EcoPrint can also be set to on (Enable).
    1Display the System Menu. (Refer to System Menu Operations 
    Procedures on page 5-7.)
    2Press U or V to display 05.EcoPrint.
    3Press [OK].
    4When EcoPrint is to be used as the initial value press V and select On 
    (Enable).
    5Press [OK]. The display will return to that of Step 2.
    Exposure Steps
    Changes the number of steps for the copy’s exposure. 
    1Display the System Menu. (Refer to System Menu Operations 
    Procedures on page 5-7.)
    2Press U or V to display 06.Density 
    steps.
    3Press [OK].
    4Press U or V and select 1 Step, or 0.5 Step.
    5Press [OK]. The display will return to that of Step 2.

    Auto Exposure Adjustment
    Adjusts the overall exposure of the copy when Auto Exposure Mode is 
    used.
    1Display the System Menu. (Refer to System Menu Operations 
    Procedures on page 5-7.)
    2Press U or V to display 07.Auto 
    Density.
    3Press [OK].
    4Press U or V and select an exposure from 1 to 7.
    5Press [OK]. The display will return to that of Step 2.
    Text + Photo Mode Exposure Adjustment
    Adjusts the median exposure value of the copy for the Text + Photo 
    original.
    1Display the System Menu. (Refer to System Menu Operations 
    Procedures on page 5-7.)
    2Press U or V to display 08.Text+Ph 
    Dens.
    3Press [OK].
    4Press U or V and select an exposure from 1 to 7.
    5Press [OK]. The display will return to that of Step 2.
    Photo Exposure Adjustment
    Adjusts the median exposure value of the copy for the Photo original.
    1Display the System Menu. (Refer to System Menu Operations 
    Procedures on page 5-7.)

    Text Exposure Adjustment
    Adjusts the median exposure value of the copy for the Text original.
    1Display the System Menu. (Refer to System Menu Operations 
    Procedures on page 5-7.)
    2Press U or V to display 10.Text 
    Density.
    3Press [OK].
    4Press U or V and select an exposure from 1 to 7.
    5Press [OK]. The display will return to that of Step 2.
    Processing to Reduce Black Line
    It is possible to make black line less noticeable when it appears when using 
    the optional Document Processor. Using processing to reduce black line 
    decreases the reproduction quality of small characters, so it is 
    recommended that the copier normally be used at the factory default 
    setting.
    NOTE: When Photo Mode has been selected in Image Quality Mode, 
    processing to reduce black line is not possible.

    2Press U or V to display

    4Press U or V and select Off, Weak or Strong.

    Background Adjustment
    The background can be lightened when it is found to be too dark after 
    copying.

    4Press U or V and select a background color exposure from 1 to 5.

    Cassette Selection
    Selects whether the cassette with the same size of paper as the original 
    size will be automatically selected or whether a selected cassette level 
    (fixed) is to be used.

    Selecting Media Types for Automatic Paper Selection
    Specifies the type of media when the copier automatically selects the copy 
    paper according to the size of the original. The type of media can be 
    specified from the following types of paper supported.
    Plain, Transparency, Rough, Vellum, Labels, Recycled, Preprinted, Bond, 
    Cardstock, Color (Colour), Prepunched, Letterhead, Thick paper, 
    Envelope, High Quality and Custom 1-8
    When Plain is selected in the following example, the copier looks for the 
    cassette or MP tray in which the paper of the matching type (plain) and size 
    (of the original document) is loaded and begins copying.
    NOTE: To assign media type to cassette according to the type of the 
    media loaded, refer to Selecting Media Type (Cassettes 1 to 4) on page 5-
    17 for details.

    2Press U or V to display 15.AutoSel 
    Paper.
    3Press [OK].
    4Press U or V to select the desired media type.
    5Press [OK]. The display will return to that of Step 2.
    Selected Cassette
    When the optional Paper Feeder is installed, priority will be assigned to the 
    cassette that is selected automatically. Manual paper feeding cannot be 
    set using the Selected Cassette function.

    4Press U or V and select the cassette to be given priority for use.

    NOTE: The range of selection will vary in accordance with the number of 
    cassettes installed.
    5Press [OK]. The display will return to that of Step 2.
    Auto Cassette Switching
    When the optional Paper Feeder has been installed, select whether or not 
    to use the Auto Cassette Switching function.
    1Display the System Menu. (Refer to System Menu Operations 
    Procedures on page 5-7.)
    2Press U or V to display

    3Press [OK].
    4Press U or V and select Disting. paper when the Auto Cassette 
    Switching function is to be used and Not dist. paper when it will not 
    be used.
    5Press [OK]. The display will return to that of Step 2.
    Auto Sizing
    Sets whether or not to use automatic sizing (zoom/reduction percentage) 
    when a paper cassette has been selected.
    1Display the System Menu. (Refer to System Menu Operations 
    Procedures on page 5-7.)
    2Press U or V to display 
    18.PriorAutoZoom.
    3Press [OK].
    4Press U or V and select On when the Automatic Sizing function is to be 
    used and Off when copies are to be taken at a 1:1 ratio.
    5Press [OK]. The display will return to that of Step 2.
    Inputting Custom Sizes
    Sizes that are not displayed on the Operation Panel are registered as 
    Custom Sizes.

    Size 2 select 25.Custom Size 2 in the System Menu and then perform 
    the same settings.
    1Display the System Menu. (Refer to System Menu Operations

    2Press U or V to display the 24.Custom

    3Press [OK].
    4Press U or V and select the size. The paper sizes displayed are as shown 
    in the table below. When selecting Irregular Sizes, carry out the following 
    procedure. In the case of the selection of other sizes, proceed to Step 9.
    5Press [OK]. The Width can be input after 2 blinks.
    6Press U or V and input the Length Size. 
    3.88 to 11.63()/98 to 297 (mm): The range 
    in which setting is possible.
    7Press [OK]. The Width can be input after 2 blinks.

    Selecting Media Type (Cassettes 1 to 4)
    Specifies the media type to the cassette 1 to 4. These cassettes support 
    the following media type.
    Plain, Preprinted, Bond, Recycled, Rough, Letterhead, Color (Colour), 
    Prepunched, High Quality and Custom 1-8
    The setting of Cassette 1 is shown here as an example, select 
    27.Casst2MedType, 28.Casst3MedType and 29.Casst4MedType in 
    the System Menu before selecting Cassette 2, 3 and 4 (option), 
    respectively.

    4Press U or V to select the desired media type.

    Specifying the Paper Weight and 2-sided Copying to Custom Paper
    Assigns one of  the following paper weights to the Custom paper. And you 
    can determine whether 2-sided copying is allowed to the custom paper. Up 
    to 8 custom paper are configurable.
    Extra Heavy, Heavy3, Heavy2, Heavy1, Normal3, Normal2, Normal1 and 
    Light (Vellum)
    The setting of Custom 1 is shown here as an example, select 
    31.CustmMedType2, 32.CustmMedType3, 33.CustmMedType4, 
    34.CustmMedType5, 35.CustmMedType6, 36.CustmMedType7 and 
    37.CustmMedType8 in the System Menu before selecting Custom 2, 3, 
    4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, respectively.
    NOTE: 2-sided Copying setting will be displayed only when the optional 
    Duplex Unit is installed.

    Auto Detect Originals
    Allows you to predetermine what paper size is selected for printing when 
    copying an original document of non-standard sizes (Refer to below). This 
    feature is applicable when the size of the original is either Hagaki, A6R, 
    B4R or Folio. The menu also provides the means to determine whether 11 
    x 15 is recognized as a standard size.
    The setting of Hagaki or A6R is shown here as an example, select 
    39.B4R/Folio Det and 40.11x15 Detect in the System Menu 
    before selecting B4R and 11 x 15, respectively.
    NOTE: This setting is only available for metric models.
