27 Insignia 46/50" LED TV www.insigniaproducts.com Connecting a computer Using VGA (most common) To connect a computer using VGA: 1Make sure that your TV’s power cord is unplugged and the computer is turned off. 2Connect a VGA cable (not provided) to the VGA jack on the back of your TV and to the VGA jack on the computer. 3Connect an audio cable with a stereo mini plug (not provided) to the PC/DVI AUDIO IN jack on the back of your TV and to the AUDIO OUT (headphone) jack on the computer. 4Plug your TV’s power cord into a power outlet, then turn on your TV and the computer. 5Press INPUT to open the INPUT SOURCE list. 6Press S or T to select VGA, then press ENTER. 7Adjust the display properties on the computer, if necessary. 29 Insignia 46/50" LED TV www.insigniaproducts.com Using DVI (same as HDMI but requires an audio connection) To connect a computer using DVI: 1Make sure that your TV’s power cord is unplugged and the computer is turned off. 2Connect an HDMI-DVI adapter (not provided) to one end of an HDMI cable (not provided), then connect the adapter to the DVI OUT jack on the computer. 3Connect the other end of the cable to the HDMI 3/DVI jack on the side of your TV. 4Connect a 3.5mm audio cable (not provided) to the PC/DVI AUDIO IN jack on the back of your TV and to the AUDIO OUT (headphone) jack on the computer. 5Plug your TV’s power cord into a power outlet, then turn on your TV and the computer. 6Press INPUT to open the INPUT SOURCE list. 7Press S or T to select HDMI3, then press ENTER. 8Adjust the display properties on the computer, if necessary. Note You must use the HDMI 3/DVI jack to connect a computer using DVI. If you use another HDMI jack, you will not hear sound from the TV speakers. Note When you connect the audio using the PC/DVI AUDIO IN jack, the audio output is analog. The PHOTOS menu opens. OR If you switch to a different video input source after you plug in the USB flash drive and want to switch back to the drive, press INPUT to open the INPUT SOURCE list, press S or T to select USB (Photos), then press ENTER. The PHOTOS menu opens. Caution Do not remove the USB flash drive or turn off the TV while using the USB flash drive. You may lose data or damage the USB flash drive. Note The Photos viewer only supports JPEG format images (with “.jpg” file extensions) and not all JPEG files are compatible with your TV. To connect headphones: 1Connect the headphones to the AUDIO OUT/ jack on the side of your TV. 2In the screen that opens, press W or X to highlight Headphones, then press ENTER. For more information, see “Selecting the audio out mode” on page45. Warning Loud noise can damage your hearing. When using headphones, use the lowest volume setting on your headphones that still lets you hear the sound. Note • If you connect headphones when your TV is turned off, then you turn on your TV, the TV speakers are muted and the audio plays through the headphones. • You can also connect an amplifier, home theater system, or sound bar to the AUDIO OUT/ jack. If you want to connect an amplifier, home theater system, or sound bar, you need to disconnect the headphones. Side of TV

To connect a home theater system using analog audio: 1Make sure that your TV’s power cord is unplugged and the home theater system is turned off. 2Connect a 3.5mm audio cable (not provided) to the AUDIO OUT/ jack on the side of your TV and to the AUDIO IN jacks on the analog home theater system. 3Plug your TV’s power cord into a power outlet, then turn on your TV and the home theater system. Notes • For information about selecting the audio out mode for a home theater, see the Headphone/Audio Out option in “Adjusting sound settings” on page44. • You can connect headphones, an amplifier, a home theater system, or a sound bar to the AUDIO OUT/ jack. Refer to the documentation that came with your devices for connection information. Just remember to use the best connection types available for the best picture and sound. Caution • Your TV should only be operated from the power source indicated on the label. • Always unplug the AC power cord from the power outlet when you will not be using your TV for an extended period of time. • The power cord is permanently attached to your TV. Do not try to unplug it from the back of your TV.
36 NS-46D400NA14/NS-50D400NA14 Insignia 46/50" LED TV www.insigniaproducts.com Using the remote control Installing remote control batteries To install remote control batteries: 1While pressing the release latch on the back of the remote control, lift the battery compartment cover off the remote control. 2Insert two AAA batteries into the battery compartment. Make sure that you match the + and – symbols on the batteries with the + and – symbols in the battery compartment. 3Replace the battery compartment cover. Aiming the remote control To aim the remote control: • Point the remote control towards the remote sensor on the front of your TV. For the location of the remote sensor, see “Front” on page8. Cautions • Batteries should not be exposed to excessive heat, such as sunshine, heat registers, or fire. • Battery chemicals can cause a rash. If the batteries leak, clean the battery compartment with a cloth. If chemicals touch your skin, wash immediately. • Make sure that batteries are disposed of correctly. Do not burn or incinerate. Notes • Do not mix batteries of different types. • Do not mix old and new batteries. • Remove batteries when the charge is depleted. • If the remote control is not going to be used for an extended period of time, remove the batteries.
