    Power Management Features
The power management features are des igned to s ave as
much electricity as possible by putting c omponents into a
low-power consumption mode as often as possible. This
low-power mode is referred to as “suspend” mode.
    Full Power Mode
The W orkPad z50 operates in Full power mode when power
management is dis abled and the AC Adapter is c onnec ted.
    Suspend Mode
In suspend mode, the s ystem is powered off exc ept f or the
system DRAM. The W orkPad z50 enters suspend mode
when the s ystem remains idle f or a specified amount of time
or under one of the following conditions:
    ·
The Power button is press ed.
    ·
The LCD panel is clos ed.
    ·
A W indows CE power management time-out occurs.
    ·
The W indows CE Sus pend ic on is clicked.
    ·
The battery releas e loc k is releas ed.
    ·
The remaining battery c apac ity of the battery pac k is
    very low.
    ·
A notification event set in the “Alarms” window of the
World Clock applic ation in the Control Panel occ urs.
    Attention
The s ystem will not enter suspend mode after an idle
    time-out under the following conditions:
The s erial port is c onnected to another s ystem running
    W indows CE s ervic es .
The W orkPad z50 is c onnected to a network through the
    PCMCIA LAN card.
The system will resume to full power mode under one of the
    following conditions:
    ·
The Power button is press ed while in suspend mode.
    ·
An application launching key is pressed.
    ·
      The LCD panel is opened.
    ·
      An internal fax/modem ring-in occurs.
    ·
The Microphone button is pus hed.
    ·
The Notific ation button is pushed when the
    notification LED blinks.
    ·
      A built-in data/fax modem ring occurs.
    ·
The s erial port is c onnected to another s ystem f or
trans mitting and rec eiving data.

    Symptom-to-FRU Index
The s ymptom-to-FRU Index lists the s ymptoms and errors
and the possible c aus es. The most likely c aus e is listed first.
    Note:P erf or m t h e FRU r ep l ac em en t or ac t i ons in t h e

a FRU replac ement did not s olve the problem, put
the original part back in the W orkPad z50. Do not
    replace a nondefective FRU.
This index can also help you determine the next possible
FRUs to be replac ed when s ervicing the W orkPad z50.
Numeric error c odes show the errors detected in s ys tem
operation. In the f ollowing error c odes, X c an be any
