    Notes:
    1. When removing the system board from the bottom
    cover, gently raise the side of the system board facing
    the rear I/O ports; then pull out the system board.
    2. In step 2, further pull out this latch before the system
    board is attached to the lower case.
    3. Thermal Pad must be replaced when either Heat Sink
    Module, CPU or System Board is replaced. Thermal
    Pad is stuck on the bottom side of Heat Sink Module
    with adhesive. Do not re-use the thermal pad.

    Note:When attaching the I/O port bracket to the system
    board, please pay special attention to the studs’
    positions as marked 5, 6, 7, 8. The one marked 5
    should be installed above the one marked 6; the
    one marked number 7 should be aligned with and
    attached beneath the one marked number 8.
    CAUTION:
    There are several types of system board FRU for the
    Thinkpad R32 series, as followed:
    vSystem board with IBM security chip
    a
    vSystem board without IBM security chip
    a
    Begin by checking the FRU number of the system
    board, and be sure to use the correct system board
    FRU for the computer. For the FRU numbers,
    see“Parts list”on page 161

    							ImportantIf the ThinkPad computer you are servicing has the
    security chip, mind the following:
    vDo not remove the security chip from the
    system board.If the security chip is removed by
    accident, reintall it on the system board
    immediately. Then make sure that it is firmly fixed
    on the system board and does not remove easily.
    vThe security chipcannotbe used with any other
    system board.
    vThe system boardcannotbe used with any other
    security chip.
    vThe system boardcannotbe used without
    security chip
    vWhen you return the defective system board
    FRU, you must check whether the security chip is
    firmly attached to the system board. If it is not
    embedded, it may not be covered under warranty.

    Note:When removing the LCD, take note of the following:
    vBe careful not to scratch the LCD bezel when
    removing the screw mylars.
    vThe LCD bezel has several latches. Release
    these latches; then remove the LCD bezel. Be
    careful not to break these latches.
    vGently push the two LCD latches outward to
    remove the LCD bezel.
