25 OPERATION Read the Safety sectio\f a\fd followi\f\ag pages, if you are u\ffamiliar with th\ae machi\fe. Training Due to u\fique steeri\fg\a capabilities, zero tur\f mowers are far more ma\feuverable tha\f t\aypical ridi\fg mower\as. This sectio\f should\a be reviewed i\f its e\fti\arety prior to attempti\fg to move \athe mower u\fder its\a ow\f power. Whe\f first operati\fg \athe mower or u\ftil \abecomi\fg comfortable with co\ftrols, use a reduced throttle speed a\fd reduced grou\fd speed. DO NOT m\aove co\ftrol levers to the f\aurthest forward or reverse positio\fs duri\fg i\fi\atial operatio\f. First time users sh\aould become familiar\a with the mower’s moveme\ft o\f\a a hard surface, such as co\fcrete or blacktop PRI\aOR to attempti\fg to\a operate o\f turf. U\ftil the operat\aor becomes comfortable with the mower co\ftrols a\fd zero tur\fi\fg capability, overly aggressive ma\feuvers may\a damage turf. Steering To move forward and\g \fackward The directio\f a\fd speed of \athe mower’s moveme\a\fts are effected by the move\ame\ft of the co\ftrol lever(s) o\f each side of mow\aer. The left co\ftrol lever co\ftrols the left wheel. Th\ae right co\ftrol lever co\ftrols the right wheel. First time users sh\aould push the mower\a (see Moving Machine By Hand i\f the Operation sectio\f) to a\f ope\f, flat area without other pe\aople, vehicles or obstacles \fearby. To move the u\fit u\fde\ar its ow\f power, the operator must \asit i\f the seat a\fd \astart the e\fgi\fe (see Before Starting i\f the Operation sectio\f). Adjust th\ae e\fgi\fe speed to i\adle, dise\fgage the parki\fg brake bu\at do \fot e\fgage the \ablades at this time. Rotate c\ao\ftrol levers i\fward. This will allow mower to\a start movi\fg forward i\f a straight li\fe. Pull the co\ftr\aol levers back to t\ahe \feutral positio\f \a a\fd the mower should\a stop movi\fg. Pull back slightly \ao\f co\ftrol levers, allowi\fg \athe mower to move backwards. Push the co\ftrol levers forward to the \feutral positio\f\a a\fd mower should st\aop movi\fg. To turn to the right While movi\fg i\f a fo\arward directio\f, pull the rig\aht lever back towards the \feutral posit\aio\f while mai\ftai\fi\fg\a the positio\f of the\a left lever, this will slow th\ae rotatio\f of the right wheel a\fd\a cause the machi\fe t\ao tur\f i\f that directio\f. To turn to the left While movi\fg i\f a fo\arward directio\f pull the lef\at lever back towards the \feutral posit\aio\f while mai\ftai\fi\fg\a the positio\f of the\a right lever, this will slow th\ae rotatio\f of the left wheel \aa\fd cause the machi\fe\a to tur\f i\f that directio\f. To zero turn While movi\fg i\f a fo\arward directio\f, first pull bo\ath co\ftrol levers back u\ftil\a the mower stops o\ar slows dramatically. The\f by alter\fati\fg o\fe lever sli\aghtly to the forwar\ad positio\f a\fd the oth\aer i\f the reverse positio\f, complete the tur\f.
