Use HP Web Services applications (touchscreen models only) Several innovative applications are available for this product that you can download directly from the Internet. F or more information and to download these applications go to the HP Connected Web site at www.hpconnected.com . To use this feature, the product must be connected to a computer or network that has an Internet connection. HP Web Servic es must be enabled on the product. 1. From the Home screen on the product control panel, touch the Web Services button. 2. Touch the Enable Web Services button. After you download an application from the HP Connected Web site, it is available in the Apps menu on the product c on trol panel. This process enables both HP Web Services and the Apps menu. HP Device Toolbox (Windows) Use the HP Device Toolbox for Windows to check product status or to view or change product settings from your c omputer. This tool opens the HP Embedded Web Server for the product. NOTE: This tool is available only if you performed a full installation when you installed the product. Depending on how the product is c onnected, some features might not be available.1 . Click the Start button, and then click the Programs item. 2 . HP Utility for Mac OS X Use the HP Utility for Mac OS X to view or change product settings from your computer. You can use the HP Utility when the product is connected with a USB cable or is connected to a TCP/IP-based network . Open the HP Utility From the Finder, click Applications, click HP, and then click HP Utility. If HP Utility is no t included, use the following procedure to open it: 1 . At the computer, open the Apple menu, click the System Preferences menu, and then click the Print & Fax icon or the Print & Scan icon. 2. Select the product in the left side of the window. 3. Click the Options & Supplies button. 4. Click the Utility tab. 5. Click the Open Printer Utility button. HP Utility fe ature s The HP Utility toolbar is at the top of every page. It includes these items: ● Devices: Click this button to show or hide Mac products found by the HP Utility in the Printers pane at the le f t side of the screen. ● All Settings: Click this button to return to the HP Utility main page. ● HP Support: Click this button to open a browser and go to the HP support Web site for the product. ● Supplies: Click this button to open the HP SureSupply Web site. ● Registration: Click this button to open the HP registration Web site. ● Recycling: Click this button to open the HP Planet Partners Recycling Program Web site. Set or change the product password Use the HP Embedded Web Server to set a password or change an existing password for a product on a network . LCD control panel 1. On the product control panel, press the Setup button. 2. Open the following menus: ● Network Setup ● Show IP Address 3. To open the HP Embedded Web Server, enter the product IP address into the address line of a Web br owser . NOTE: You can also access the HP Embedded Web Server from the HP Device Toolbox for Windows or the HP Utility f or Mac O S X. 4. Click the System tab, and click the Product Security link. NOTE: If a password has previously been set, you are prompted to provide the password. Enter the pas sw ord, and then click the Apply button. 5. Enter the new password in the New Password box and in the Verify Password box. 6. At the bottom of the window, click the Apply button to save the password. Touchscreen control panel 1. A cartridge is low or cartridge is very low message displays on the product control panel A cartridge is low or cartridge is very low message displays on the product control panel, and the product does no t print. NOTE: Toner level warnings and indicators provide estimates for planning purposes only. When an indicator shows lo w-toner levels, consider having a replacement cartridge available to avoid possible printing delays. You do not need to replace cartridges until print quality becomes unacceptable. Once an HP toner cartridge has reached “very low”, HP’s Premium Protection Warranty on that toner cartridge has ended. Yo u can change the way the product reacts when supplies reach the Very Low state. You do not have to re- establish the se settings when you install a new toner cartridge. Enable or disable the Very Low settings You can enable or disable the default settings at any time, and you do not have to re-enable them when you install a ne w toner cartridge. LCD control panel 1. On the product c ontrol panel, press the Setup button. 2. Open the following menus: ● System Setup ● Supply Settings ● Black Cartridge or Color Cartridge ● Very Low Setting 3. Select one of the following options, and then press the OK button: ● Select the Stop option to set the product to stop printing until you replace the toner cartridge. ● Select the Prompt option to set the product to stop printing and prompt you to replace the toner car tridge. You can acknowledge the prompt and continue printing. ● Select the Continue option to set the product to alert you that the toner cartridge is very low, but to c on tinue printing. ● For color toner cartridges only, select the Print Black option to continue printing in black and white if the col or t oner cartridges are very low.
