61 Scanning to a Memory Card You can use your Epson Stylus Photo RX700 as a stand-alone scanner to save scans of photos, film, and slides to your memory card. You can also scan to your computer instead of a memory card (see the instructions in your on-screen Reference Guide). 62Scanning to a Memory Card 2. Make sure the memory card light (next to the card slots) is off and all the slots are empty. Then insert your card as shown: The memory card light flashes, then turns green. Note: If the card is not properly formatted, you see a message on the RX700 screen. Press the button indicated on the RX700 screen to format the card. Any data stored on the card will be erased. Scanning Film or Slides63 5. Use the u and d buttons to choose Scan to Memory Card, then press OK. 6. Use the u, d, l, and r buttons to select the following options: ■Scan Area: select Auto cropping (if the edges of the photo are light in color, select Max area) ■Document Type: select Graphics ■Quality: select Text and Image (for best quality) or Normal (for smaller file size). 7. 65 Saving and Storing Photos You can use your RX700 as a card reader to copy photos and other types of files from a memory card to your computer, or vice versa. If you don’t have a computer, you can copy pictures from your camera’s memory card to a USB storage device, such as a Zip ® drive, CD drive, or USB thumb drive (flash memory device). This lets you delete the photos on your memory card and reuse it without losing your originals. See these sections: ■“Copying Photos to Your Computer” below...

66Saving and Storing Photos On a Macintosh, you see a drive icon appear on your desktop. You can open the drive and copy your photos to your computer. If iPhoto TM is set to open when a digital camera is connected, iPhoto opens. 4. To copy photos, drag and drop them as needed. When you’re done, remove the card as described on page 68.
