Custom Printing Your Photos31 Using DPOF to Select Your Photos If your camera supports DPOF (Digital Print Order Format), you can use it to select your photos for printing and the number of copies you’d like to print while the card is still in your camera. See your camera’s instruction manual for details. 1. Insert the camera’s memory card in the RX620. 2. Press the Memory Card button. 3. Use the u and d buttons to highlight Basic Print or Custom Print. 4. Use the l and r buttons to choose DPOF, then press OK. 5. If you selected Custom Print, continue with the steps on page 27 to make your print settings. 6. Press the x Color button to print your photos. Restoring Default Settings If you want to reset the print and copy settings to their original default settings, follow these steps: 1. Press the Setup button. 2. Use the u and d buttons to choose Restore to Factory Settings. 3. Press OK, then confirm as instructed to restore the settings.
32Making Prints From Your Digital Camera Printing From an Index Sheet An index sheet gives you a thumbnail printout of the photos on your memory card and lets you select which ones you want to print. You can use the index sheet to make borderless prints on 4 × 6-inch, 8 × 10-inch, and letter-size paper. Use plain paper to print out the index. When you’re ready to print your photos, you’ll need to load one of these papers: 1. Load several sheets of plain paper. (If there are more than 36 photos on your memory card, you’ll need more than one sheet to print the index.) 2. Press the Memory Card button. You see this screen: PaperDescription Epson Premium Glossy Photo Paper (4 × 6, 8 × 10, or letter-size)High-gloss, bright-white finish; looks and feels like traditional photography paper. Printing From an Index Sheet33 3. Select Index Sheet, press OK, then highlight Print Index Sheet on the next screen. 4. Press the x Color button to print the index. Note: To cancel printing, press the yStop button. If there are a lot of photos on your card, allow time for them to be processed before printing begins. Selecting Photos From the Index Sheet Follow these steps to print selected photos from the index sheet. 1. Load the type of paper you want to print on. You can choose any type of paper listed on page 32. 2. On the index sheet, fill in the oval beneath each photo you want to print with a dark pen or pencil. 3. 34Making Prints From Your Digital Camera 4. Place the index sheet face-down on the scanner glass, so that the top edge of the sheet is aligned with the left edge of the glass. 5. Close the scanner lid. 6. On the control panel, make sure Scan Index Sheet is highlighted, then press the x Color button. The sheet is scanned and your photos are printed. Note: To cancel printing, press the y Stop button. If you have more than one index sheet, wait for the RX620 to finish printing. Then repeat the steps above to scan and print from each additional sheet. Connecting Your Camera Directly PictBridge and USB Direct Print let you print your photos by connecting your digital camera directly to the Stylus Photo RX620. Make sure your photos meet these requirements: ■JPEG files or uncompressed Tiff files only ■Resolutions ranging from 120 × 120 to 4600 × 4600 pixels ■No more than 999 photos on your camera (you can have additional ones, but the printer can read only the first 999) Left edge of glass Top edge of sheet
Connecting Your Camera Directly35 1. Remove any memory cards from the RX620. (If you leave a card in the RX620, photos will be read from that card instead of your camera’s card.) 2. Connect the USB cable that came with your camera to the EXT. I/F port on the front of the Stylus Photo RX620. 3. If necessary, turn on the Stylus Photo RX620 and your camera. After a moment, the RX620 reads and counts your photos. 4. Press the Setup button. 5. Use the d button to highlight Direct Print Image Set, then press OK. 6. Load the type of paper you want to print with (see page 28). 7. Use the RX620 screen to select the Paper Type, Paper Size, Layout, and Quality settings (see page 27). Note: You can also make special print settings as described on page 29. 8. When you have finished selecting your print settings, press OK. 9. Use your camera to select the photos you want to print, adjust any necessary settings, and print your photos. See your camera’s manual for details. Note: If your camera is not compatible with PictBridge or USB Direct Print, you’ll see a message saying that the connected device cannot be used. Epson cannot guarantee the compatibility of any cameras. EXT. I/F port
36Making Prints From Your Digital Camera Cropping a Photo If you have a photo with a subject in it you want to emphasize, you can crop out the rest of the photo. Then you can print just the main subject by itself. Note: You can crop and print only one photo at a time. Cropping does not change the original file on your memory card; it changes only the way the photo is printed. 1. Press the Memory Card button. 2. Use the d and u buttons to highlight Crop Print, then press OK. 3. Use the l and r buttons to select the photo you want to crop, then press OK. 4. Load the type of paper you want to print with (see page 28). 5. Select the Paper Type, Paper Size, Layout, and Quality settings (see page 27). Note: You can also make special print settings as described on page 29. 6. When you have finished selecting your print settings, press OK. You see the first cropping screen: 7. Use the u, d, l, and r buttons to place the frame where you want it. (If the frame stops moving when it reaches an edge, you can come back to this step later after resizing the frame.) Press OK when done.

Note: To readjust the frame’s position, press the Cancel button to return to the previous screen. 9. When you have finished framing the photo, press OK until you see a preview of the cropped image: 10. Press OK if the photo is cropped to your liking. (If you need to adjust it further, press the Cancel button to return to the previous screens.) 11. Use the u and d buttons to select the number of copies (1 to 99). 12. Press the x Color button to start printing. To cancel printing, press the y Stop button. Tip: For best results, press the x Color button even if you’re printing black-and-white photos. Color inks can be combined for improved results over black ink alone. If part of your photo is unexpectedly missing when you print, turn off the Fit to Frame setting (see page 30).
39 Scanning to a Memory Card You can use your Epson Stylus Photo RX620 as a stand-alone scanner to save scans of photos, film, and slides to your memory card. You can also scan to your computer instead of a memory card (see the instructions in your on-screen Reference Guide). See these sections: ■“Inserting a Memory Card” below ■“Scanning a Photo” on page 40 ■“Scanning Film or Slides” on page 41 Inserting a Memory Card You can scan to any compatible type of card listed on page 23. Caution: Do not insert more than one card at a time. Wait for the memory card light to stop flashing before removing your card or turning off the RX620, or you may lose data on the card. 1. If the Stylus Photo RX620 is connected to your computer, unplug the USB cable that connects it to your computer, or turn off your computer. 2. Open the memory card slot cover. Open cover
40Scanning to a Memory Card 3. Make sure the memory card light (next to the card slots) is off and all the slots are empty. Then insert your card as shown: The memory card light flashes, then turns green. Note: If the card is not properly formatted, you see a message on the RX620 screen. Press the button indicated on the RX620 screen to format the card. Any data stored on the card will be erased. Scanning a Photo After inserting a memory card, follow these steps to scan a photo to the card and save it in JPEG format: 1. Open the scanner lid. 2. Place your photo face-down on the glass in the upper-left corner, as shown. Tip: Slide your photo about 1/8 inch away from the edges of the glass to ensure that the edges of your photo are copied. 3.
