    							Replacing Consumable Products64
    Chapter 4
    Replacing Consumable Products
    Precautions During Replacement
Always observe the following handling precautions when replacing consumable products:
For details about the replacement, see the instructions on the package.
❏Provide enough space for the replacement procedure. You will have to open some parts (such
as the printer cover) of the printer when you are replacing consumables.
❏Do not install the consumable products that reach end of service life into the printer.
    w
    Warning:
❏Be careful not to touch the fuser, which is marked CAUTION HOT SURFACE, or the
surrounding areas. If the printer has been in use, the fuser and surrounding areas may be very hot.
❏Do not dispose of used consumable products in fire, as they may explode and cause injury. Dispose
of them according to local regulations.
Precautions for Replacing the Toner Cartridge
When the Toner light and the Error light are on, the printer has run out of toner. If the indicator
lights light up in this manner, or if a message is displayed on the EPSON Status Monitor screen,
    replace the toner cartridge.
Always observe the following handling precautions when replacing the consumable products:
❏Installing a genuine consumable product is recommended. Using a non-genuine consumable
product may affect print quality. EPSON shall not be liable for any damages or problems
arising from the use of consumable products not manufactured or approved by EPSON.
❏When handling a toner cartridge, always place them on a clean, smooth surface.
❏If you move a toner cartridge from a cool to a warm environment, wait for at least one hour
before installing it to prevent damage from condensation.
❏Do not expose the toner cartridge to room light any longer than necessary.

    							Replacing Consumable Products65
❏The toner cartridge is not an independent unit that you install directly into the printer. The
cartridge needs to be inserted into the developer unit’s casing and then installed into the
    printer.
    w
    Warning:
❏Do not touch the toner. Always keep toner away from your eyes. If toner gets on your skin or
clothes, wash it off with soap and water immediately.
❏Keep consumable products out of the reach of children.
❏Do not dispose of used consumable products in fire, as they may explode and cause injury. Dispose
of them according to local regulations.
❏If toner is spilled, use a broom and dustpan or a damp cloth with soap and water to clean it up.
Because the fine particles can cause a fire or explosion if they come into contact with a spark, do
    not use a vacuum cleaner.
❏Be careful not to touch the fuser, which is marked CAUTION HOT SURFACE, or surrounding
areas. If the printer has been in use, the fuser and the surrounding areas may be very hot. If you
must touch one of these areas, wait 30 minutes to allow the heat subside before doing so.
