    Internet \fonnection Setup Wizard
    When confi\burin\b the router for the first time, we recommend 
    that you c\fick use the 
    Internet .Connection .Setup .Wizard, and fo\f\fow 
    the instructions on the screen. This wizard is desi\bned to assist 
    user  with  a  quick  and  easy  method  to  confi\bure  the  Internet 
    Connectivity of this router.
    Anytime durin\b the Internet Connection Setup Wizard, the user 
    can  c\fick  on  the 
    Cance\b  button  to  discard  any  chan\bes  made 
    and  return  to  the  main  Internet  pa\be.  A\fso  the  user  can  c\fick 
    on  the 
    Prev  button,  to  return  to  the  previous  window  for  re-
    confi\buration.

    This wizard wi\f\f \buide you throu\bh a step-by-step process to confi\bure 
    your new D-Link router and connect to the Internet.

    Step.1:.Set. Your.Password
    By defau\ft, the D-Link Router does not have a password confi\bured for 
    administrator access to the Web-based confi\buration pa\bes. To secure 
    your new networkin\b device, p\fease enter and verify a password in the 
    spaces provided. The two passwords must match.

    Step.2:.Se\bect. Your.Time.Zone
    Se\fect the appropriate time zone for your \focation. This information is 
    required to confi\bure the time-based options for the router.

    Step.3:.Internet.Connection
    Here the user wi\f\f be ab\f\ue to confi\bure the Internet Connectivity used by this device. If your ISP connection is \fisted in the drop-down menu 
    se\fect it and c\fick Next. If your ISP connection is not \fisted then you can proceed to se\fect any of the other manua\f\u Internet Connection methods 
    \fisted be\fow.
    The fo\f\fowin\b parameters wi\f\f be avai\fab\fe for confi\buration: Dynamic.IP.Address: Choose this if your Internet connection 
    automatica\f\fy provides you with an IP Ad-
    dress. Most Cab\fe Modems use this type of 
    connection.
    PPPoE: Choose this option i\uf your Internet con-
    nection requires a PPPoE username and 
    password to \bet on\fine. Most DSL mo -
    dems use this type of connection.
    PPTP: Choose this option i\uf your Internet con-
    nection requires a PPTP username and 
    password to \bet on\fine.
    L2TP: Choose this option i\uf your Internet con-
    nection requires an L2TP username and 
    password to \bet on\fine.
    Static.IP.Address: Choose this option i\uf your Internet Setup 
    Provider provided you with IP Address 
    information that has to be manua\f\fy con-

    Step.3:.Internet.Connection.(Dynamic.IP.Address)
    After se\fectin\b the Dynamic IP Address Internet connection method, the fo\f\fowin\b pa\be wi\f\f appear.

    MAC.Address: Enter the MAC address of the Internet \bate -
    way (p\fu\b\bed into the Internet port of this 
    device) here.
    C\bone.Button: If the confi\buration PC a\fso acts as the Internet 
    \bateway, then c\fick on the C\u\fone Your PC’s 
    MAC Address button to copy the PC’s MAC 
    address into the space provided. If you’re not 
    sure, \feave the MAC Address fie\fd b\fank.
    Host.Name: Enter the host name used\u here. You may a\fso 
    need to provide a Host Name. If you do not 
    have or know this information, p\fease contact 
    your ISP.
    Primary.DNS.Address: Enter the Primary DNS IP address used here.
    Secondary.DNS.Address: Enter the Secondary DNS IP address used 
    here. This fie\fd is norma\f\fy optiona\f. On\fy 
    one DNS address is required for a functiona\f 
    Internet connection, but usin\b a sec\uond DNS 
    address provides more stabi\fity.

    Step.3:.Internet.Connection.(PPPoE)

    option is on\fy avai\fab\fe if Static IP is se -
    \fected.
    PPTP.Subnet.Mask: Enter the PPTP Subnet M\uask used here.
    PPTP.Gateway.IP.Address: Enter the PPTP Gateway IP address used 
    here.
    PPTP.Server.IP.Address: Enter the PPTP Server IP address used 
    here. This is norma\f\fy the same a the \uPPTP 
    Gateway IP address.
    User.Name: Enter the PPTP username used here.
    Password: Enter the PPTP password used here.
    Verify.Password: Re-enter the PPTP password used here.

    Internet (Manual)
    On this pa\be the user\u can confi\bure the Internet Connection settin\bs 
    manua\f\fy. To access the Manua\f Internet Connection Setup pa\be, c\fick 
    on the Manual Internet \fonnection Setup button. On this pa\be ther\ue a 
    mu\ftip\fe parameters that can be confi\bured re\bardin\b the Internet Con-
    nection setup. We’\f\f discuss them from top to bottom.
    At any \biven point the user can save the confi\buration done, on this 
    pa\be, by c\fickin\b on the Save Settings button. If you choose to discard 
    the chan\bes made, c\fick on the Don’t Save Settings button.

    My Internet \fonnection is: Dynamic IP (DH\fP)
    The defau\ft WAN confi\buration for this router is Dynamic IP (DHCP). \uThis 
    option a\f\fows the router to obtain an IP addr\uess automatica\f\fy from the 
    device that is connected to the Internet port. 
    Note: If you’re not sure about the type of Internet Connection you have, 
    p\fease contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for assistance.
    After se\fectin\b Dynamic IP, the fo\f\fowin\b parameters wi\f\f be avai\fab\fe for 
    confi\buration:
    Host Name:The Host Name is opti\uona\f but may be 
    required by some ISPs. Leave b\fank if you 
    are not sure.
    Use Unicasting: Tick this option if y\uou ISP uses the unica\ust 
    method to provide IP addresses.
    Primary DNS: Enter the Primary DNS IP address used 
    here.
    Secondary DNS: Enter the Secondary DNS IP address used 
    here. This fie\fd is norma\f\fy optiona\f. On\fy 
    one DNS address is required for a func -
    tiona\f Internet connection, but usin\b a 
    second DNS address provides more stabi\f-
    ity.
    MTU:  Maximum Transmission Unit - y\uou may need to chan\be the MTU for optima\f performance with your specific ISP. 
    1500 is the defau\ft M\uTU.
    MA\f Address: The defau\ft MAC Address is set to the Internet port’s physica\f interface MAC address on the Broadband Router. It 
    is not recommended that you chan\be the defau\ft \uMAC address un\fess required by your ISP. You can use the \flone 
    Your P\f’s MA\f Address button to rep\face the Internet port’s MAC address with the MAC address of your Ethernet 
    card.
    Internet \fonnection Type
    In this section, the user can s\ue\fect from a \fist of Internet Connection types that can be confi\bured and used on this \urouter. Options to choose 
    from are Static IP, Dynamic IP, PPPoE, PPTP, L2TP, and DS-Lite.
    After se\fectin\b a specific Internet Connection type, this pa\be wi\f\f automatica\f\fy refresh and provide unique fie\fds to confi\bure re\fated to the 
    specified Internet Connection type.

    Section 3 - Confi\buration
    Se\fect Static.IP   to  manua\f\fy  enter  the  IP  settin\bs  supp\fied  by 
    your ISP.
    Enter the IP address assi\bned by your ISP.
    Enter the Subnet Mask assi\bned by your ISP.
    Enter the Gateway assi\bned by your ISP.
    The DNS server information wi\f\f be supp\fied by your ISP (Internet 
    Service Provider.)
    Maximum Transmission Unit - you may need to chan\be the MTU 
    for optima\f performance with your specific ISP. 1500 is the defau\ft 
    MTU.
    The  defau\ft  MAC  Address  is  set  to  the  Internet  port’s  physica\f 
    inter face  MAC  address  on  the  Broadband  Router.  I t  is  not 
    recommended that you chan\be the defau\ft MAC address un\fess 
    required  by  your  ISP.    You  can  use  the  Copy.Your .PC’s .MAC.
    Address button to rep\face the Internet port’s MAC address with 
    the MAC address of your Ethernet card.

    Manual Internet Setup
    Static (assigned by ISP)
    Se\fect Static IP Address if a\f\f the Internet port’s IP information is provided to you by your ISP. You wi\f\f need to enter in the IP address, subnet mask, 
    \bateway address, and DNS address(es) provided to you by your ISP. Each IP address entered in the fie\fds must be in the appropriate IP form, which 
    are four octets separated by a dot (x.x.x.x). \uThe Router wi\f\f not accept the IP address if it is not in\u this format.

    Section 3 - Confi\buration
    Internet Setup
    PPPoE (DSL)
    Choose  PPPoE  (Point  to  Point  Protoco\f  over  Ethernet)  if  your  ISP  uses  a  PPPoE  connection. Your  ISP  wi\f\f  provide  you  with  a 
    username and password. This option is typica\f\fy used for DSL services. Make sure to remove your PPPoE software from your 
    computer. The software is no \fon\ber need\ued and wi\f\f not work throu\bh a router.

    menu.
    Address Mode: Here the user can speci\ufy whether this Internet connection 
    requires the use of a Dynamic or Static.IP address. PPPoE usua\f\fy 
    requires a Dynamic IP confi\buration.
    IP Address: Enter the PPPoE IP address used here. This option is on\fy a\uvai\f-
    ab\fe if Static IP is se\fected.
    Username: Enter the PPPoE account user name used her\ue. This information is 
    \biven by the ISP.
    Password: Enter the PPPoE account password used here. This information is 
    \biven by the ISP.
    Verify Password: Re-enter the PPPoE account password used here.
    Service Name: This optiona\f fie\fd en\uab\fes the user to enter a service name to 
    identify this Internet connection here.
    Reconnect Mode: Use the radio buttons to specify the reconnect mode. The user 
    can specify a custom schedu\fe or speci\ufy the \fn.Demand, or 
    Manua\b option. To specify a custom schedu\fe, use the drop-
    down menu to se\fect one of the schedu\fe\us that has been defined 
    in the Schedu\fes pa\be.
    To create a new schedu\fe, c\fick the New.Schedu\be.button to open the Schedu\fes pa\be. Schedu\fes wi\f\f be discu\ussed \fater.
