    For E3200, E4200 
    Why  would  I  need  to  configure  stor\fge?  By  default,  when  you  \bonne\bt  a 
    sto\fage devi\be to you\f \foute\f, the enti\fe \bontents of the devi\be a\fe available fo\f 
    \fead and w\fite a\b\bess to anyone on you\f lo\bal netwo\fk (no login \b\fedentials a\fe 
    \fequi\fed)  Howeve\f, you \ban also \b\feate sha\fed folde\fs that you \ban \bonfigu\fe 
    to sha\fe only with spe\bifi\Sed g\foups 
    To control \fccess to the USB drive \ftt\fched to your router, you need to 
    perfor\b two t\fsks:
    1. C\feate  one  o\f  mo\fe  sha\fed  folde\fs  (see “How  to  \b\feate  sha\fed  folde\fs” 
    below)
    2. Manage  g\foup  and  Use\f  A\b\bess  to  Sha\fed  Folde\fs  (see “How  to  sha\fe 
    folde\fs and set a\b\bess \fights” on page 46)
    Ho\b to create shared folders
    To cre\fte \f sh\fred folder:
    Storage > Disk
    1. Log into the b\fowse\f-based utility (see “How to open the b\fowse\f-based 
    utility” on page 21)  
    2. Cli\bk the Stor\fge tab, then \bli\bk the Disk page 
    3. Cli\bk Cre\fte  Sh\fre  next  to  the  pa\ftition  you  want  to  sha\fe   The S\bared

    If you want to sha\fe a spe\bifi\b folde\f:
    \f. Ente\f a unique name in \Sthe Displ\fy N\f\be field 
    b. Cli\bk Select next to the folde\f name you want to sha\fe  
     •To open a subfolde\f, \bli\bk Enter into Folder 
     •To navigate to a p\fevious folde\f, \bli\bk Return to Upper Folder 
     •To \b\feate a new folde\f, type the name into the New Folder field, 
    then \bli\bk Cre\fte  
    c. Cli\bk S\fve  Settings  at  the  bottom  of  the  s\b\feen,  then  \fepeat  the 
    above steps to add mo\fe folde\fs that you want to sha\fe   
    Ho\b to manage group and user access to shared 
    folders
    To  manage  a\b\bess  to  sha\fed  folde\fs,  you  need  to  disable  Anonymous  Disk 
    A\b\bess,  then  \b\feate  g\foups  and  use\f  a\b\bounts  on  you\f  \foute\f    A\b\bess  to  the 
    \foute\f is \bont\folled by use\f a\b\bounts, but a\b\bess to sha\fed folde\fs is \bont\folled 
    by g\foups  
    1. Disable  Anonymous  Disk  A\b\bess  (see “How  to  disable  anonymous  disk 
    a\b\bess” on page 43) 
    2. C\feate a g\foup that you will use to assign \fights to a sha\fed folde\f  
    3. C\feate use\fs and assign those use\fs to the g\foup 
    4. Add the g\foup to the sha\fed folde\f that you want to \bont\fol

    Ho\b to disable anonymous disk access
    By default, no passwo\fd is needed fo\f \fead and w\fite a\b\bess to the d\five  Befo\fe 
    you  \ban  manage  g\foup  and  use\f  a\b\bess  to  sha\fed  folde\fs,  you  must  disable 
    anonymous disk a\b\bess 
    To dis\fble \fnony\bous disk \fccess:
    Storage > Administration
    1. Log into the b\fowse\f-based utility (see “How to open the b\fowse\f-based 
    utility” on page 21)  
    2. Cli\bk the Stor\fge tab, then \bli\bk the Ad\binistr\ftion page 
    3. Next to Anonymous Disk Access, sele\bt Dis\fbled 
    4. Cli\bk S\fve Settings at the bottom of the s\b\feen 
    Ho\b to create a group
    By  default,  the  default  Admin  g\foup  has  \fead  and  w\fite  a\b\bess  to  all  sha\fed 
    folde\fs    By  default,  the  Guest  g\foup  has  \fead  only  a\b\bess  and  has  no  a\b\bess 
    \fights to any of the sha\fed folde\fs  
    IMPORTANT
    Mo\fe than one g\foup \ban be \bonfigu\fed with a\b\bess to a sha\fed 
    folde\f, but a use\f \ban be \Sa membe\f of only on\Se g\foup  
    To cre\fte \f group:
    Storage > Administration
    1. Log into the b\fowse\f-based utility (see “How to open the b\fowse\f-based 
    utility” on page 21)  
    2. Cli\bk the Stor\fge tab, then \bli\bk the Ad\binistr\ftion page 
    3. Unde\f Group Management, \bli\bk Cre\fte New Group 
    4. Complete the Group N\f\be and Description fields  
    5. F\fom  the Access  d\fop-down  list,  sele\bt re\fd-only  to  g\fant  \fead-only 
    \fights  to  the  g\foup,  o\f  sele\bt re\fd-\fnd-write  to  g\fant  \fead  and  w\fite 
    \fights to the g\foup  
    6. Cli\bk Cre\fte  The g\foup is now \b\feated, and its a\b\bess \fights a\fe displayed 
    in the Access \bolumn 
    7. To  \bhange  a  g\foup’s  name  o\f  a\b\bess  \fights,  \bli\bk Edit  next  to  the  g\foup 
    name 
    8. To delete a g\foup, \bli\bk Delete next to the g\foup name

    Two use\f a\b\bounts (Admin and Guest) a\fe p\fe\bonfigu\fed fo\f \foute\f a\b\bess  The 
    passwo\fd fo\f the Admin use\f is the same passwo\fd that you use to a\b\bess the 
    \foute\f   By  default,  the  use\f Admin  is  a  membe\f  of  the  g\foup  named Admin, 
    and  the  use\f Guest  is  a  membe\f  of  the  g\foup  named Guest  To  keep  it  simple, 
    \bonside\f \b\feating use\f a\b\bounts on you\f \foute\f that use the same use\f names 
    and passwo\fds that a\fe used by you\f \bompute\f’s ope\fating system  
    NOTE
    Use\fs \ban be a membe\f \Sof only one g\foup  
    To cre\fte \f new user:
    Storage > Administration
    1. Log into the b\fowse\f-based utility (see “How to open the b\fowse\f-based 
    utility” on page 21)  
    2. Cli\bk the Stor\fge tab, then \bli\bk the Ad\binistr\ftion page 
    3. Unde\f User Management, \bli\bk Cre\fte New User 
    4. Complete the N\f\be, Full N\f\be, and Description fields   
    5. Ente\f and \bonfi\fm a passwo\fd   
    6. F\fom the Group Me\bber d\fop-down list, sele\bt the g\foup to assign the 
    use\f to, then \bli\bk Cre\fte  The new use\f is disp\Slayed in the use\f list\S 
    7. To  \bhange  the  use\f  name,  des\b\fiption,  o\f  g\foup  membe\fship,  o\f  to 
    tempo\fa\fily disable the a\b\bount, \bli\bk Edit 
    8. To delete the use\f, \bli\bk Delete 
    Ho\b to grant group access to a share
    To gr\fnt group \fccess to \f sh\fre
    Storage > Disk
    1. Log into the b\fowse\f-based utility (see “How to open the b\fowse\f-based 
    utility” on page 21)  
    2. Make  su\fe  that Anonymous Disk Access  has  been  disabled   (See “How  to 
    disable anonymous disk a\b\bess” on page 43 )

    in the Groups wit\b Access \bolumn, then \bli\bk  FTP Server
    1. Log into the b\fowse\f-based utility (see “How to open the b\fowse\f-based 
    utility” on page 21)

    To configure FTP \fnd control folder \fccess:
    Storage > FTP Server
    1. In the Storage tab’s FTP Server page, \bli\bk Specify Folder 
    The FTP Folder s\b\feen opens in a sepa\S\fate window  
    2. In  the Displ\fy  N\f\be  field,  ente\f  a  unique  name  fo\f  the  FTP  folde\f   The 
    name must use only alphanume\fi\b \bha\fa\bte\fs (lette\fs A to Z and numbe\fs 
    0 to 9) and \ban be up t\So 15 \bha\fa\bte\fs long 
    3. To sha\fe the enti\fe d\five, \bli\bk Sh\fre Entire P\frtition  
    – OR -
    To sha\fe only spe\bifi\b folde\fs:
     •Cli\bk Select next to the folde\f you want to sha\fe 
     •To navigate to a p\fevious folde\f, \bli\bk Return to Upper Folder 
     •To view and sele\bt folde\fs within a folde\f, \bli\bk Enter into Folder next 
    to the folde\f name 
    4. To \b\feate a folde\f, ente\f a unique folde\f name into the New Folder box, 
    then \bli\bk Cre\fte 
    5. To \bhange g\foup a\b\bess, sele\bt a g\foup in the Available Groups o\f Groups

    8. To modify sha\fed folde\f settings:
     •To \bhange a FTP folde\f’s name o\f g\foup a\b\bess, \bli\bk Edit 
     •To delete an FTP folde\f, \bli\bk Delete 
     •To see a detailed summa\fy of FTP folde\fs, \bli\bk Su\b\b\fry  A sepa\fate 
    window  opens  and  shows  the  folde\f’s Display  Name, Partition, S\bare 
    Folder, and Groups wit\b Access  Cli\bk Close to \blose the window 
     
    Ho\b to access files remotely
    For E3200, E4200 
    To a\b\bess files \femotely, you must fi\fst atta\bh a USB d\five to you\f \foute\f and set 
    up that sto\fage fo\f \femote a\b\bess   Fo\f inst\fu\btions, see “How to \bonfigu\fe you\f 
    \foute\f’s sto\fage fo\f \femote a\b\bess” on page 45  You \ban then a\b\bess files f\fom 
    anywhe\fe on the Inte\fnet 
    To \fccess files re\botely:
    1. Make  su\fe  that  you\f  \foute\f  is  \bonfigu\fed  to  sha\fe  files    Fo\f  mo\fe 
    info\fmation,  see “How  to  \bonfigu\fe  you\f  \foute\f’s  sto\fage  fo\f  \femote 
    a\b\bess” on page 45 
    2. Make su\fe that you\f \foute\f has use\f a\b\bounts set up, and that you have 
    taken  note  of  the  use\f  name  and  passwo\fd  you  will  use  to  a\b\bess  the 
    \foute\f’s sto\fage  If you have enabled Anonymous FTP (not \fe\bommended), 
    you will not need a use\f name and passwo\fd   Fo\f mo\fe info\fmation, see 
    “How to \bonfigu\fe sto\fage” on page 41 
    3. Take note of the IP add\fess of you\f \foute\f  To view you\f \foute\f’s IP add\fess, 
    open the b\fowse\f-based utility, \bli\bk the St\ftus tab, then \bli\bk the Router 
    page and take note of the numbe\fs in\S the Internet IP Address field 
    – OR –
    If  you  have DDNS  (Dynami\b  Domain  Name  Se\fvi\be),  take  note  of  the 
    domain name \fegiste\fed to you\f \foute\f   Fo\f mo\fe info\fmation, see “How 
    to find you\f netwo\fk on the Inte\fnet” on page 25 
    4. At any \femote lo\bation whe\fe you \ban a\b\bess the Inte\fnet, you \ban:
     •Use  FTP  (File  T\fansfe\f  P\foto\bol)  \blient  softwa\fe  to  \bonne\bt  to  you\f 
    \foute\f  You will need to ente\f you\f \foute\f’s IP add\fess   If a\b\bess to you\f 
    \foute\f \fequi\fes a use\f name and passwo\fd, you will also need to ente\f 
    those  details   Fo\f  mo\fe  info\fmation  on  using  the  FTP  \blient  softwa\fe,

     •Type  the  \foute\f’s  IP  add\fess  into  a  web  b\fowse\f’s  Inte\fnet  add\fess

    but you \ban usually use these \bommon a\btions to navigate th\fough 
    FTP folde\fs:
     •Cli\bk a folde\f name to open it 
     •Cli\bk  a  double  pe\fiod  (  )  o\f Up  to  \f  higher  level  directory to 
    open a pa\fent folde\f 
     •Cli\bk o\f \fight-\bli\bk a file to download o\f view it 
     •D\fag a file f\fom anothe\f window and d\fop it into the FTP window 
    to upload it  (To upload a file, you\f use\f a\b\bount must have w\fite 
    a\b\bess )
    Ho\b to set up your router as a media 
    server
    For E4200 
    Wh\ft is \f \bedi\f server \fnd how would I use it? A media se\fve\f lets you sha\fe 
    media  \bontent  a\b\foss  you\f  netwo\fk    You\f  \foute\f  \ban  a\bt  as  a  media  se\fve\f  if 
    it  has  a  USB  d\five  atta\bhed  if  you  have  UPnP  AV  (Audio  and  Video)-enabled 
    o\f  DLNA  (Digital  Living  Netwo\fk  Allian\be)-\be\ftified  devi\bes  in  you\f  home   
    Examples  of  UPnP  AV-enabled  devi\bes  in\blude  digital  media  playe\fs,  gaming 
    \bonsoles with a buil\St-in media playe\f, and digital pi\btu\fe f\fames 
    Fo\f  example,  if  you  have  a  digital  media  adapte\f  that  sends  \bontent  to  you\f 
    ente\ftainment  system,  and  if  you\f  \foute\f’s  set  up  as  a  media  se\fve\f,  then  the 
    digital media adapte\f \ban a\b\bess you\f \foute\f’s atta\bhed USB d\five

    If you delete a media folde\f, you a\fe not deleting the\S folde\f’s

    11. To manually s\ban all s\Sha\fed folde\fs, \bli\bk Sc\fn All

    Ho\b to connect your UPnP device to the media server
    Afte\f  you  set  up  you\f  \foute\f’s  media  se\fve\f,  you  need  to  \bonne\bt  an  UPnP-
    \bompatible devi\be (su\bh as an UPnP-\bompatible game \bonsole o\f digital media 
    playe\f) to the netwo\fk so that you \ban play the media se\fve\f’s \bontent 
    To connect \fn UPnP device to your router’s \bedi\f server:
    1. Conne\bt  you\f  UPnP  devi\be  to  you\f  home  netwo\fk  with  wi\fed  (Ethe\fnet

    Ho\b to set up port for\barding for a single port
    Why would I use port forw\frding for \f single port? Single po\ft fo\fwa\fding 
    is a featu\fe that fo\fwa\fds inbound t\faffi\b f\fom the Inte\fnet on a spe\bifi\b po\ft to 
    a  single  devi\be  on  you\f  lo\bal  netwo\fk    An  example  of  single  po\ft  fo\fwa\fding 
    would  be  to  fo\fwa\fd  inbound  web  \fequests,  typi\bally  on  po\ft  80,  to  a  web

    To set up single po\Brt forw\frding:
    Applications & Gaming > Single Port Forwarding
    1. Follow you\f devi\be’s inst\fu\btions fo\f \bonfigu\fing it with a stati\b IP add\fess 
    o\f  use  DHCP  \fese\fvation  to  assign  it  a  pe\fmanent  add\fess  (see “How  to 
    set up the DHCP se\fve\f on you\f \foute\f” on page 24)
