    Printing from a Computer
     Scaling  Documents 
     You can enlarge or reduce documents to match the output 
    paper size. 
     There are two methods for scaling a document: select the 
    output size of the document to scale it automatically, or 
    specify the scaling value manually. 
      
     1  Click [Page Setup]. 
     For instructions on how to display the printer driver screen, see 
    “Printing” or “Configuring the Default Print Settings” in the e-Manual. 
          
     2  Select paper size of the document you created in 
    the application from [Page Size].  
           
     3  Select output size of the document from [Output 
    Size]. 
           
     The document is scaled automatically according to the settings 
    made in [Page Size] and [Output Size]. 
     4  If you want to increase or decrease the 
    magnification manually, select [Manual Scaling] 
    à specify the scaling ratio for [Scaling]. 
           
     5 Click [OK]. 
     
     NOTE 
    •   Depending on the printer model you are using, you may not  be able to magnify the document to the optimum ratio for the 
    selected page size. 
    •   The display may differ according to the operating system, as well  as the type and version of the printer driver. 
      
     Printing Multiple Pages on One Sheet 
     You can reduce and print multiple pages on a single sheet of 
    paper. You can place 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, and 16 pages of documents 
    on a single sheet of paper. Using this feature, you can make 
    materials that are easy to view. Also, this feature helps you to 
    save paper, and save space when storing. 
      
     1  Click [Page Setup].  
     For instructions on how to display the printer driver screen, see 
    “Printing” or “Configuring the Default Print Settings” in the e-Manual.

     2  Select the page layout from [Page Layout]. 
          
     3  Select the page order from [Page Order].  
      
        
     The output image is displayed in the preview area. 
     4 Click [OK]. 
     
     NOTE 
    •   You cannot enlarge and reduce manually when using this  function. 
    •   Although there may be a function for printing multiple copies  depending on the application you are using, do not use it 
    together with this function. If you do, printing may not be 
    executed correctly. 
    •   The display may differ according to the operating system, as well  as the type and version of the printer driver. 
      
      
     2-sided  Printing 
     Two-sided printing prints a document on both sides of the 
    paper. You can reduce paper consumption by half. 
      
     1 Click [Finishing]. 
     For instructions on how to display the printer driver screen, see 
    “Printing” or “Configuring the Default Print Settings” in the e-Manual. 
           
     2  Select [2-sided Printing] from [Print Style]. 
      
        
     3  Select the binding edge from [Binding Location]. 
      
        
     The output image is displayed in the preview area. 
     4 Click [OK]. 
     
     NOTE 
    •   The page sizes for which two-sided printing is available differ  according to printer model. For details, view the online help. 
    •   The display may differ according to the operating system, as well  as the type and version of the printer driver.

     Checking and Canceling Print Jobs 
     You can check detailed information about print jobs in the 
    middle of currently printing or waiting. 
      NOTE 
     Document name and user name displayed in the 
    operation panel 
     Some file name may be displayed incorrectly depending on the 
    type of the file to be printed. 
     If the Processing/Data Indicator on the operation panel 
    is: 
    Turned on/blinking A job is being processed.
    Turned off No jobs are in the memory.
      
      
     Keys to be used for this operation
    Status Monitor/Cancel
    OK 
     1 Press [] (Status Monitor/Cancel). 
     2 Press [] or [] to select  and 
    then press [OK].

    canceled, and then press [OK].

     Pressing  [] (Stop) can also delete the print jobs  
     You can delete the print jobs also by pressing [] (Stop). 
    *   If only one print job is processing or waiting, you can stop the  job by pressing [
    ] (Stop) twice.

      Using the Scan Functions  
     The documents scanned by the machine can be stored in a computer.  
    *   If you are a Macintosh user, see the Scanner Driver Guide.  To view how to display the Scanner Driver Guide, see “For Macintosh Users” ( àP.9-4).

    Using the Scan Functions
     You can scan a document using the keys on the operation 
    panel. 
      NOTE  To scan documents by operating a computer 
     See “Scan” in the e-Manual.

       NOTE  When scanning using the operation panel 
     You cannot scan multiple documents from the platen glass. 
      
     2 Press [] (Copy/Scan) until the scan mode 
    screen appears. 
     3 Press [] or [] to select , and then 
    press [OK].

    and then press [OK].

     Scanning operation starts, and the scan mode screen reappears 
    after saving the data. 
       
     If you cannot scan 
     You cannot scan when the setting screen of the MF Toolbox is 
    displayed.

    ] to close the setting screen before scanning. 
      
        
      
     
    The location to save the scanned images
    The folder where the images are saved opens automatically 
    after scanning.
    By default, the folder for the date when you scanned the 
    data is created in the [Pictures] folder. (For Windows 2000/
    XP, the folder is created in the [My Pictures] folder in [My 
    Documents].)

    Maintenance
     Cleaning the Exterior  
     Clean the exterior of the machine and ventilation slots. 
     1  Turn OFF the power switch and disconnect the power cord. 
     2  Clean the exterior of the machine with a soft, well wrung out cloth dampened with water or mild 
    detergent diluted with water. 
           
      
     3  Wait for the printer to dry completely before  reconnecting the power cord, and then turn ON 
    the power. 
     Cleaning the Interior 
     Clean the machine’s print area periodically to prevent toner 
    powder and paper dust from accumulating inside. 
     1  Turn OFF the power switch and disconnect the power cord. 
     2  Hold the operation panel. 
           
      
     3  Lift the scanning platform. 
      
        
      
     If you cannot lift the scanning platform 
     Ensure that the feeder is completely closed. 
     Do not try to forcefully lift the scanning platform, as this may 
    damage the machine. 
    *   If you set thick documents such as a book, the feeder may not 
    be completely closed. Remove the documents. 
      
     4  Hold the grip on the left front side of the toner cover. 
           
     5  Open the toner cover.
