7-5 Troubleshooting 7 Push up the green colored part (A), and then pull the paper exit guide to open. (A) (1) (2) (3) 8 Remove any jammed paper by pulling it gently. If you do not see the leading edge of the jammed paper Do not force to pull the paper, and proceed to step 9. 9 Lift the paper exit guide, and then firmly close it. Ensure that each end of the paper exit guide is closed. (1) (2) 10 Remove any jammed paper by pulling it gently. (1) Gently pull any jammed paper downward from between the fixing unit (A) and transfer roller (B) until the leading edge emerges from the machine. (B) (A) (2) When the leading edge emerges, hold both sides of the jammed paper and carefully pull it out. 11 Remove any jammed paper by pulling it gently. 12 Lift the dust cover.
7-6 Troubleshooting 13 Remove any paper loaded in the paper cassette. 14 Remove any jammed paper by pulling it gently. 15 Reload paper into the paper cassette and lower the dust cover. Next, continue to clear jams in the rear cover. 16 Open the rear cover. 17 Remove any jammed paper by pulling it gently. 18 Close the rear cover. 19 Insert the toner cartridge. Fit the protrusions (A) on each side of the toner cartridge into the guides located on each side of the machine,and then slide the toner cartridge into the machine until the toner cartridge meets the back of the machine. (A) (A) 20 Close the toner cover. If you cannot close the toner cover Ensure that the toner cartridge properly set in the machine. Do not try to forcefully close the toner cover, as this may damage the machine. 21 Lower the scanning platform. The machine is ready to print.

Action Remove the jammed document. #037 Cause 1 The machine’s memory is full. Action 1 Print, send, or delete any documents stored in the memory. 7-8 Troubleshooting The message appears when the paper size specified in , or in the menu is different from the size of the paper loaded in the paper cassette or multi-purpose tray. If the message appears, perform the following operations. NOTE When printing using the printer driver To ignore the message and proceed to print on paper that is currently set, press [] or [] to select , and then press [OK]. However, images may be printed improperly, for example, part of images may not be printed. Change the menu according to the size of the loaded paper Cancel the job, see “Setting a Paper Size and Type” (àP.2-14) , and then change . 7-9 Troubleshooting If one of the following problems occurs during use, try the actions suggested here before contacting technical support. Check the Following First Is the power switched ON? Ensure that the power cord is securely plugged into the machine and into the wall outlet. Ensure that electricity is supplied from the power cord. Use another power cord or verify that cord is broken using a voltmeter. Turn ON the power switch. If there is no problem Has the power switch been just turned ON? Wait a moment for the machine starts and warm up. If there is no problem Is the machine in Sleep mode? Press [] (Energy Saver) on the operation panel to exit the Sleep mode. If there is no problem Are the settings proper? If the machine emits the entry error tone and does not start operating when you press [] (Start), your combination of settings may be invalid. Recheck the settings. If there is no problem Is the Error indicator on or blinking? Ensure that paper is loaded properly in the paper cassette or multi-purpose tray. “Loading Paper” (àP.2-9) Check if paper is jammed. “Clearing Jams” (àP.7-2) Turn OFF the power switch of the machine, wait for more than 10 seconds, and then turn it ON. If the problem is solved, the Error indicator will turn off and the display will return to standby mode. Paper Curls Perform one of the following solutions according to the cause. Damp paper is used. Solution 1Replace the paper with new paper in an unopened package. “Paper Requirements” (àP.2-6) Solution 2Perform the following procedure in the printer driver when you are using plainpaper (60 to 90 g/m2). 1. Display the [Page Setup] tab. 2. Set [Paper Type] to [Plain Paper L].
