    Fax
    Using the Machine for Fax Only
    Set the fax receive m\fde t\f .
    1	Switch to the Fax mode (→p\f15)\f
    2	Press [▲] or [▼] to highlight , and then press [OK]\f
    3	Press [▲] or [▼] to highlight , and then press [OK]\f
     
    \fhen a Fax or Call Comes In
    When a fax c\fmes in, the machine aut\fmatically begins receiving the fax. If a v\fice call 
    c\fmes in, the caller will hear a fax t\fne.
    Using the Machine for Faxing and Phoning
    Set the fax receive m\fde t\f < Fax/Tel Auto Switch>.
    1	Switch to the Fax mode (→p\f15)\f
    2	Press [▲] or [▼] to highlight , and then press [OK]\f
    3	Press [▲] or [▼] to highlight , and then press [OK]\f
     
    4	Specify ring settings\f
    Specify h\fw l\fng the machine will attempt t\f detect a fax t\fne 
    bef\fre the machine starts ringing (5-30 sec\fnds).
     Specify h\fw l\fng the machine will ring during an inc\fming call 
    (15-300 sec\fnds).
     Specify h\fw the machine sh\fuld behave when an inc\fming call 
    is n\ft answered:
    •	
    : Disc\fnnects the call.
    •	 : Receives a fax.

    \fhen a Fax or Call Comes In
    The machine aut\fmatically detects whether the call is a fax \fr v\fice call after tw\f rings.  
    If the call is a fax, the machine starts receiving the fax. If the call is a v\fice call, the machine 
    rings until it is answered \fr the caller hangs up.
    T\f change the number \ff rings bef\fre the machine receives a fax, press   
    [ 
     ]                specify the number \ff rings      [ 
     ].
    Using the Answering Machine
    Set the fax receive m\fde t\f < Answering Machine>.
    1	Switch to the Fax mode (→p\f15)\f
    2	Press [▲] or [▼] to highlight , and then press [OK]\f
    3	Press [▲] or [▼] to highlight , and then press [OK]\f
     
    \fhen a Fax or Call Comes In
    The c\fnnected answering machine answers the call, and if the call is a fax, the machine 
    starts receiving the fax. If the call is a v\fice call, the answering machine answers and rec\frds 
    the caller’s message.
    \bef\fre use the answering machine, set the number \ff rings bef\fre the 
    answering machine activates t\f at least tw\f, and then rec\frd a greeting.

    Using the Machine Primarily for Phoning
    Set the fax receive m\fde t\f .
    1	Switch to the Fax mode (→p\f15)\f
    2	Press [▲] or [▼] to highlight , and then press [OK]\f
    3	Press [▲] or [▼] to highlight , and then press [OK]\f
     
    \fhen a Fax or Call Comes In
    The machine c\fntinu\fusly rings in Manual m\fde. Pick up the receiver \ff the external 
    teleph\fne t\f answer the call. If the call is a fax, y\fu will hear a beep. See “Receiving Faxes in 
    Manual M\fde” bel\fw t\f receive faxes manually.
    Receiving Faxes in Manual Mode 
    F\fll\fw the pr\fcedure bel\fw t\f receive faxes manually.
    1	When an incoming call rings, pick up the telephone receiver\f 
    2	If you hear a beep, press [▲] or [▼] to highlight , and 
    then press [OK]\f

    If y\fu d\f n\ft hear a beep, start y\fur c\fnversati\fn.
    3	Hang up the receiver\f
    •	When y\fu pick up the teleph\fne and get a fax signal, y\fu d\f n\ft need t\f 
    g\f t\f the machine t\f receive the fax. Just enter the rem\fte RX ID number 
    (default setting: 25) with the teleph\fne, and y\fu can start receiving the fax.
    •	T\f change the rem\fte RX ID, press [  ]                specify the rem\fte 
    RX ID number      [

    Receive a Fax from Memory
    If a fax is st\fred in mem\fry, y\fu can view the sender \ff the received fax and print \fr f\frward 
    the fax.
    Switching to Memory Lock Mode
    1	Press [  ]\f
    2	Press [▲] or [▼] to highlight , and then 
    press [OK]\f
    3	Press [▲] or [▼] to highlight , 
    and then press [OK]\f
    4	Press [▲] or [▼] to highlight , and then press 
    [OK]\f
    5	Press [▲] or [▼] to highlight , and then press [OK]\f
    6	Set the details as needed\f
     Register a seven-digit PIN t\f pr\ftect the mem\fry l\fck 
    settings.
    Y\fu can use numbers between "0" and "9," but 
    cann\ft register c\fnsecutive digits that c\fnsist \ff 
    \fnly "0" as a PIN.
     Set the RX Result Rep\frt t\f print aut\fmatically when faxes 
    are received int\f the mem\fry.
    •	<
    Off >: D\f n\ft print the RX Result Rep\frt.
    •	: Print the RX Result Rep\frt.
    T\f use this feature, y\fu must als\f activate the 
     item:

    The default setting is < Off>.
     Set this feature t\f receive faxes int\f the mem\fry \fnly f\fr a 
    specified time. When the preset time starts, the machine is 
    switched t\f receive fax int\f the mem\fry. When the preset 
    time ends, faxes st\fred in the mem\fry are aut\fmatically 
    printed and the mem\fry receiving feature is deactivated.
    7	After you have specified the setting, press \f

    Fax
    Viewing and Canceling Received Fax Documents
    Y\fu can view the sender \ff the fax st\fred in mem\fry. Y\fu can als\f delete unnecessary faxes 
    \fr f\frward them t\f \fther destinati\fns.
    1	Press [  ] (Status Monitor)\f
    2	Press [▲] or [▼] to highlight , and then press [OK]\f
    3	Press [▲] or [▼] to highlight , and then press [OK]\f
    4	Press [▲] or [▼] to highlight a job to be checked or deleted, and then 
    press [OK]\f
    •	
    T\f delete the fax j\fb, press < Delete>, press [▲] \fr [▼] t\f highlight < Yes>, and then 
    press [ OK].
    •	T\f f\frward the fax, press < Forward>, specify the f\frwarding destinati\fn fr\fm the 
    Address \b\f\fk, and then press [ OK].
     
    5	Press [  ] (Status Monitor) to close the screen\f
    Printing Received Fax Documents
    When the mem\fry receiving is deactivated, all faxes st\fred in the mem\fry are aut\fmatically 
    printed.
    IMPORTANTIM PO RTA N TThe machine d\fes n\ft supp\frt the functi\fn t\f select fax d\fcuments t\f 
    print. Delete the unnecessary d\fcuments first.
    1	Press [  ]\f
    2	Press [▲] or [▼] to highlight , and then

    View and Cancel a Fax Job
    Y\fu can view \fr cancel fax j\fbs that are waiting \fr in pr\fgress.
    1	Press [  ] (Status Monitor)\f
    2	Press [▲] or [▼] to highlight  or , and then press [OK]\f
    3	Press [▲] or [▼] to highlight , and then press [OK]\f
    4	Press [▲] or [▼] to highlight the job you want to view or cancel, and then 
    press [OK]\f

    T\f cancel sending, press < Cancel>, press [▲] \fr [▼] t\f highlight < Yes>, and then 
    press [ OK].
    •	On the < Details> screen, press < Delete> t\f delete the received fax, \fr press 
    < Forward > t\f f\frward the received fax (
    →p.65).
    5	Press [  ] (Status Monitor) to close the screen\f

    Change the Fax Settings
    Y\fu can change the fax settings f\fr sending and receiving t\f suit y\fur needs.
