3 Setting the FlashN
 Flash exposure compensation
See “ y Flash Exposure Compensation” on page 85.

If [ Average] is set, the flash exposure wi ll be averaged for the entire

Whenever you set the power switch to  or , the Self 
Cleaning Sensor Unit operates to aut omatically shake off the dust on 
the front of the sensor. Normally, you need not pay attention to this 
operation. However, you can execute  the sensor cleaning at anytime as 
well as disable it.
1Select [Sensor cleaning].
 Under the [ 6] tab, select [Sensor 
cleaning], then press < 0>.
2Select [Clean nowf].
  Select [Clean now f], then press 
< 0 >.
  Select [OK ] on the dialog screen, 
then press < 0>.

Normally, the Self Cleaning Sensor Unit will eliminate most of the dust 
that might be visible on captured im ages. However, in case visible dust 
still remains, you can append the Dust  Delete Data to the image to later 
erase the dust spots. The Dust Delete  Data is used by Digital Photo 
Professional (provided software) to erase the dust spots automatically.
  Get a solid-white object (paper, etc.).
  Set the lens focal length to 50mm or longer.
  Set the lens focus mode switch to < MF> and set...

3Photograph a solid-white object.
 At a distance of 20 cm - 30 cm / 0.7 ft. - 1.0 
ft., fill the viewfinder with a patternless, 
solid-white object and take a picture.
XThe picture will be taken in the aperture-
priority AE mode with  an aperture of f/22.
 Since the image will  not be saved, the 
data can still be obta ined even if there 
is no card in the camera.
X When the picture is taken, the camera 
will start obtaining the Dust Delete

Dust which could not be removed by the automatic sensor cleaning can 
be removed manually with a blower, etc.
The surface of the image sensor is extremely delicate. If the 
sensor needs to be cleaned directly, having it done by a Canon 
Service Center is recommended.
Before cleaning the sensor, det ach the lens from the camera.
1Select [Sensor cleaning].

 While cleaning the sensor, never  do any of the following. If the 
power is cut off, the shutter will  close and the shutter curtains and 
image sensor might get damaged.
• Setting the power switch to < 2>.
• Opening the battery compartment cover.
• Opening the card slot cover.
  The surface of the image  sensor is extremely delicate. Clean the sensor 
with care.
  Use a plain blower without any brus h attached. A brush can scratch the 
sensor.

With the single image display, you can turn the  dial to jump through the images.
1Select the jump method.
