Turning the Printer ON/OFF
The printer can be turned ON/OFF using the power switch on the right side of the 
printer body. Be sure to observe the following instructions in order to prevent 
unexpected problems.
 
Turning the Printer ON
To  use this printer, press I of the power switch to turn the printer ON.  After 
r unning a self-diagnostic test on the printer unit and optional accessories, the 
printer will be ready to print.

If no abnormality is found during the self-diagnostic test, the Online indicator, 
Ready indicator and Paper Source indicator for the currently selected paper 
source come on,  appears in the display, and the printer is ready to 
print.

Power Saving (Power Save Mode)
You can reduce power consumption efficiently by using Power Save Mode when the 
printer is idle or not in use.
There are the following two kinds of Power Save Mode.

NOTE
•You can release Power Save Mode by setting TIMER SETTINGS to WAKE UP TIME 
(See p. 5-14).
•To  configure the printer so that it does not enter Power Save Mode, set POWER SAVE 
MODE (See p. 5-10) to OFF.
•To  contigure the printer so that it dose not enter Power Save Mode when an error is 
occurring in the printer (when the Message indicator is on, or the number in the message 
b links), set PWR SAVE IN ERR (See p. 5-11) to OFF.
